Carla Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Right thats it I give up..........how do you get windows clean. Over the years I've tried all manner of sprays and what not but every time it come out looking like the windscreen of a sunshine bus! Currently its RainX cleaner/protector applied with a paper towel then buffed (buffed = smeared around the window to leave an interesting pattern) off with a microfibre. Discuss Quote
Ricey Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Meh.........and that would be me posting on the wrong log in! Quote

Ricey Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Tried AutoGlym Glass Polish?Or claybar? Or Cillt Bang? Various glass polishes, normal household glass cleaner, turtle wax glass cleaner, RainX Clean and Protect, glass wipes (worst pile of gash I've ever come across). Never thought about a claybar though. Quote
BulletMagnet Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Do you clean the inside of the windscreen too? Quote
SteveRS Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Tried AutoGlym Glass Polish?Or claybar? Or Cillt Bang? +1 Autoglym Glass polish works every time, its great stuff! Inside and out is best to make it crystal clear. Quote
doctor austin Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Ethanol.....or IPA anything else will cause smearing Quote
iain10101 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I use a solvent cleaner for upvc windows. Best glass cleaner ever. Gets stubborn stains off, buff to finish. Then use ag cgp. Quote

Sorry mate I actually meant the inside of the screen - out side seems fine but I just streak the buggery out of the interior so they end up worse than when I started! Quote
350ash Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 A second buffing with a microfibre might do the trick. I use either Auto Glym Fast Glass or Dodo Juice Red Mist and with two buff offs the windows always come out well. Quote
Husky Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 i saw the picture, you looked confused like you needed the next instruction Quote
RisingPower Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Nothing I prefer to: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/engine-an ... d_348.html Just noticed, they're out of stock Either way, if you're using ag glass polish and it's smearing you're either not letting it dry or using far too much and not a great microfibre. ioneabee Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Vinegar works well tends to leave a slight after-tang odour though Quote
Chris`I Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Megs Glass Polish/cleaner followed by IPA on the outside, then a very very small amount of Rain-X. Rain-X is a sod if you use too much and smears all over the place. You need to use a tiny amount and buff it off with a clean cloth after you fist buff it off. IPA and clean cloths for the inside, you'll be amazed at how dirty they are inside! Quote
ChrisS Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Meths. May as well as they spoilt the taste when they put the dye in it.(joke before you all start ) Quote

Ebized Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Vinegar works well tends to leave a slight after-tang odour though White vinegar smeared over single window at a time by a cloth then cleaned off using newspaper. Cheap and and effective inside and out and generally lasts for 2-3 months. I also use rain-X on the front and rear screens to minimize wiper use Quote
Chris`I Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Not on the side too Col? Nice to see the rain go flying off the side windows too Quote
tez162003 Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Lime Prime to remove really bad water marks that just wont come off. Then i just use Meguires last touch with a dry microfibre. Does 100% job everytime Quote
