I reckon you will have some serious rubbage when your suspension compresses. Arch rolling will be neccessary IMO. I rolled my arches on an offset of et18 (albeit running tein coilovers) and my mate is getting rubbing on the rear arches under load on his standard suspension Zed running a 9.5 inch rim on an offset of et12.

Couple of mine. Couple of track shots in Mondello: My Zed as the hero car in a new low budget Irish "gangster" short film:

Heres my (dirty at the mo) SC engine bay - the Vortech ain't pretty but it sure makes up for it when you put the boot down.

Em! - didn't get any PM mate. To avoid all this stripping lark -I'm going to drop the price to 15,500GBP - Zed can be delivered (i.e. driven by me) to anywhere in the UK. If anyone wants this Zed cheaper than this then I can start taking off bits - for instance it'd be around 800 GBP cheaper again but without the KAAZ LSD (Viscous LSD in its place) or the CF interior. These type of mods would sell easy enough on the forum I'd imagine.

My last Zed - a JDM ST seemed to have a much smaller capacity tank than the present UK spec GT. Does anyone know if the JDM tank is smaller?
-
No thanks on the trade + 2K - it'd actually cost me money once import tax and expenses were taken into account and I'd expect to get at least 3.5K for the SC unit and ancillaries if stripped nevermind the rest of the mods like the Kaaz LSD, CF interior, CF rear diffuser and roof etc I may start a thread shortly to see if theres any interest in the bits on the Zed - no point stripping to find theres no takers for the parts.

You are probably not going to believe me but I just bought droplinks and am going to get them done along with the tie-rod bolts in the next couple of days - the bad weather kept the Zed in the garage since oct/nov. I'm not forgetting about you mate and appreciate you waiting.

Header = exhaust manifold in my book?

Just bumping this up there guys. The Zeds been tucked up in the garage since November so no changes to spec. Stuck it up on Pistonheads as well but only got offers of trades which aren'r realisitic for me as I'd have to pay the VRT on import - no such problem with importing from Ireland to UK though. Any offers before I start to strip?

I'm not a big fan of the OE diff - its better than nothing when new but once the fluid shears then its worthless IMO. I ran almost a full second quicker on the 1/4 mile with the Kaaz diff over the OE one and its been by far and away the best mod I made for track use. If I was to start modding the Zed all over again the first things I'd address on the Zed would be Coilovers & ARB's, Diff and Brake set-up (in that order). The Kaaz comes as a 2 way diff but I got an additional piece to convert to 1.5way to make it more suited to road driving. Total cost for diff, some extra bits and bobs (10 ring gear bolts, Circlips x2 , side oil seals x2 and side bearings x 2 + shims ), Kaaz Gear oil and of course the set-up of the diff ran me to over 1K euro - so around 900GBP. Important that the diff is set-up correctly - on the road you wouldn't realise I had an aftermarket diff (apart from locking/scrabbling at low speed) - none of those tell-tale bangs you often hear on poorly set-up diffs. It really does surprise me that more people on here don't upgrade the diff before adding big power forced induction.
-
+1 Either way the standard viscous diff is pants. My change to a Kaaz diff (1.5way) was a massive improvement over standard - though I suspect that the viscous fluid has sheared a few times to many which meant I had effectively an open diff - and I also expect that any Zed more than a couple of years old with 30K miles + has similar issues. The OE viscous diff is a sealed unit and is not serviceable (apart from changing the oil around the unit).

Lost my Dad at your age Stephen - similar story with regard to my hospital experience. You'll need to be brave now and keep your Dad as positive as possible - its might seem odd but I found injecting a little bit of humour into the situation helped my family pull through what was a very difficult time.
-
Thanks for the comments guys - just to add that I would deliver this car to anywhere in the UK for the sale price.

What tyres are you running out of interest? They don't look like a high performance tyre - this may be the biggest issue with your handling.

Been contemplating this one for a while and now that the winters set in and the Zed has been tucked away in the garage for weeks and likely will be till next spring (apart from an occasional run) - the Murano is getting all the use and its starting to seem a bit silly to have a 20K toy that I am just using occasionally. The plan is to sell on the Zed now and buy something similar in the spring so here goes- 03 350Z - 37K miles only (and a full history of services every 2-3K miles on average). Engine and Drivetrain Spec Vortech Supercharger (recently refurbed with two new belts and all new pulleys + intake) - spares also avail as part of sale price. FMIC Walbro Fuel Pump Utec ECU with Map Selector (Gives the ability to run two maps) APS Plenum APS Strut bar APS Oil Pan (much larger than standard) RC550cc injectors Iridium Plugs Spill's grounding kit Stainless Steel Coolant and Power steering pot Stainless Steel Bolts Nismo Oil and Radiator Cap Samco Hoses Carbon Battery and Brake Fluid Covers Carbon Slam panel Tein Bonnet Struts Decat Invidia G200 Exhaust (Cats or hiflow cats also inc) Power, max setting, 419bhp and 354ftlb and "low" setting 383.7bhp 337ftlb, mapped using a Turbo XS Utec Kaaz LSD (2 way converted to 1.5 way) - offers fantastic traction and control. Brembo 4 pot front brakes with brand new Performance friction floating calipers and DS2500 pads and 2 pot Brembos on rear with Endless pads. JWT Clutch and Flywheel Nismo Sway Bars and control arms Tein Superstreet Suspension and EDFC (adjust damper settings inside car) Interior Saga guages, oil temp, pressure and boost 6.5" DVD Nismo Titanium gear knob Full Carbon Interior Kit includes: stereo surround, upper and lower, vent trim, crown cover, corner pieces, door inserts Usual GT spec, leather heated electric seats, cruise control, phone etc Exterior Shine Amuse Front Bumper with a CF intake and CF splitters CF roof overlay, Mastergrade (Top Secret) rear CF diffuser. Nismo Version 2 rear wing Upgraded facelift rear lights (LED type) Carbon pillars Carbon wing mirrors Rolled arches to accomodate aggressive offset Rota Drifts and 275r/245f Toyo R888 tyres. Theres a lot of spec I am certain I have missed out on - this Zed must be viewed to be appreciated. Front cover car on Japanese Performance and MIJ magazines. Recent 3K service of engine and supercharger - all fluids - brakes etc. A list of receipts (over 10K Euro in past year alone) that would give my Bank Manager a heart attack. EDIT - NEW PRICE 09/02/11 15,500GBP inc shipping anywhere in the UK or Ireland If a buyer would like a supercharged Zed but doesn't want certain mods then - 500GBP without Kaaz LSD (OE Viscous instead) - 300GBP without CF interior - 300GBP without CF rear diffuser - 180GBP without rear updated LED lights etc etc etc My other option is to strip the Zed (bring back to standardish spec) and sell the aftermarket parts - probably makes the most financial sense but I just don't have the heart to do it - its what I feel the 350Z would have been like if Nissan weren't concerned about budget and just set out to design the ultimate performance coupe. What colour is your Zed? I have two OE blade silver sideskirts sitting in the garage.
-
Welcome along McGintus - theres a couple of Irish blokes on here - oh and Andlid as well who everyone thinks is Irish. Gas man though. Where did you pick up the damaged Zed? Any pics?

Offset and PCD of 114.3 would be fine. 350Z bore is 66.1 and FTO bore is 67.1 so there may be 1mm that may need to be machined away on the rims. I've had two FTO's in the past and would be interested to hear how you get on with this. Seems obvious but just remember that if the OEM rays already have tyres on then they are gonna be too large (and probably wide) in diameter. You'll need a shoehorn a set of 235/35 18's or 225/35 18's on there to try and avoid rubbing on the FTO.
-
FWIW - my advice would be sell your own Zed and buy (or at least test drive) an SC Zed that has all the money already spent on set-up (e.g. Ians) - it really takes quite a lot of effort (and beans) to get the Zed set-up properly for FI and running reliably. My present Zed (Vortech SC with uprated fuel pump, injectors, APS plenum and oil sump, decat true-dual exhaust, Utec EMS inc mods like Tein coilovers & EDFC, uprated Nismo ARBs, JWT clutch & flywheel, Kaaz LSD, R888's, PF discs & uprated pads plus an amount of other mechanical and cosmetic mods) would cost an arm and a leg to bring a standard Zed to where mine is at but the difference to drive really is night and day. I would never recommend that anyone modify a Zed to the extent that Ians or P15ULT or my own Zed is at because for similar money you'd be most of the way to a R35 GTR - much better to buy a Zed where someone else has taken the financial pain.

As a temporary repair - while the fixings make be broken you could just drill a few new holes through the plastic and use tie-binds to fix to original bolt points. At least it'll keep the undertray off the road.

RSR comes with bungs in the rear pipes and it needs them - its just too loud under load though its not too bad on motorways if you're jut cruising. Heres a sound clip of the RSR on my last Zed (first car in the clip) -
-
Don't really have a good sound video of the Invidia on my Zed tbh. Its the G200 true dual system with Decats and while it sounds quite subdued (for my tastes) on my Zed its most probably because of the supercharger. I reckon if you don't like your exhausts too loud - just cultured sounding - then the G200 is for you. Had an RSR exhaust on my last Zed and that was just too loud apart from 1/4 miles or trackdays when the Zed "sounded" like the fastest thing on earth.
-
Yep nasty damage to the plebs that reverse/bump into you in car parks. I have a front and rear toe hook on my Zed permanently for this very reason and I think it adds to the track look. (Bonus points for whoever can identify the handsome devil in the background)

I got my CF roof overlay and Mastergrade TS rear splitter through Sarah on here. Both pieces were excellent quality and fit. Not sure if Mastergrade are around any more though.

Running 420bhp at the moment (which certainly feels plenty for the road) on a standard block and the main reason I'd go forged would be for reliability so tbh I reckon I'll be waiting for the engine to go bang before I'd be looking at my options. And I wouldn't pay more than 5K GBP for a forged block.
