I agree its not going to make much if any diff in a road car but from my personal (& finicky) point of view having two pieces bolted to the hub (Spacer & Rim) rather than one would have a negative effect on unsprung weight as well as the potential for more bits to go wrong. I have used spacers in the past and have a set there for the Zed if needed - if they're the proper bolt to the hub motorsport type then its no biggy.

My 1st Zed with GM Rota GTR's - Present Zed on LMGT's (they're cheap-ass copies of the Rotas ) Present Zed running Rota Grid Drift
-
The F1 Eagles were part worn and had a 35 profile while the R888's were brand new with a 40 profile - I suspect the R888's were quite a bit heavier. OP - Def stick with the LMGT's if you can - the only reason I'd have Rotas in their place is that the Rotas are cheaper to replace. The LMGT's are a cult wheel that'll hold their value if looked after and will add to the value of your Zed - most other aftermarket rims will detract from the resale value.

Those Rota GTR's can be got in much more agressive offsets than 25. My mate has the GTR's on his Zed and he's running an offset of 15 on standard suspension - slight rub on the back arch though when suspension compresses - could do with being rolled. I'd steer clear of spacers if you can - better to get the required offset on the rims in the first place. My 2nd set of rims are 18 inch Rota Drifts and am running an 18 offset on Tein coilovers but I've had to roll the back arches.

stock vs modified 1/4mile / in gear times

Drag 2 years ago in my first NA Zed with breathing mods: 14.1 0-60 in 5.1 secs Drag on same track last year with SC Zed (approx 400bhp) 13.9 0-60 in 5.2 secs (no traction - the OE viscous diff was terrible) Drag on same track this year with SC Zed (now with added Kaaz diff and R888's) 13.2 0-60 in 4.5 secs (est) -
Put a shopping list down the side of the car (with a subtle difference): MILK BREAD EGGS BUTTER

I wouldn't swap LMGT's for Rota's either but having said that I sold my LMGT's recently and currently have my 2nd set of rims on the Zed at the moment - which happen to be Rota Drifts with R888's and believe it or not the 18inch Rotas (with new R888's on) weight less than the 19inch LMGT's (with part worn Goodyear Eagles). 23kgs for the LMGTs vs 22kgs for the Rotas (inc tyres). While the LMGT's are the dogs danglies there is no performance benefit with running them over the Rotas and the Rotas are easily and cheaply replaced if damaged. ...but that's because you've dropped a size. Needless to say thats true - I'm comparing 19 inch LMGT's with 18 inch Rotas but I am also including the heavier tyres on the 18's - diameter stays the same. I'm not trying to fight the Rotas corner (the LMGTs are the superior rim) - I've had both LMGTs and Rotas - my point was there isn't the difference that many people seem to think there is.

Pretty sure, but hope I'm wrong about this offset

Lovely rims alright - the same width front and rear would suit a 4WD car like the GTR just fine. If your budget is 1400GBP though then the world is your oyster though for 2nd hand rims - you're better off waiting for the right set to pop up. I just bought a set of 19 inch Rays in a Zed fitment for 600GBP off ebay (putting them on a Murano though). -
Nice one, that sounds like a very good idea Forgot about those. One question, im not sure as im a zed newb but isnt the APS dual all the way, this means i will have to fit one to each side? Any links or recomendations to good ones, tried and tested perhaps? From what i understand you the more you close the butterfly the more it quitens the exhaust. But the gases still have to flow through the same exhaust so what differance does it reallymake? Also does restricting the flow cause any problems with too much back pressure or anything else. How did you find them, did they really work well? Ahh! Didn't realise the APs was true dual - then I guess its two ECV's or hi flow Cats for you unless you know of a company that can add a reasonator to each pipe on the centre sections. Two ECV's would be messy IMO. Surprised you are finding that exhaust all that loud tbh - are the cats straight pipes or the reasonated type? Restricting the flow of exhaust gas using the ECV will have much the same effect as fitting full cats. Back pressure is probably the most over-hyped and misunderstood element of exhaust speak that I have ever seen on car forums. Suffice to say you don't have to worry about it - as long as the exhaust flows free with minimal restrictions -air comes in fast (& cold) and exits as fast and uninterupted as possible (without going into CFD theories) then you'll have the preferred exhaust design. I never fitted my ECV to my RSR exhaust as I ended up changing the Zed to another SC Zed but from mates who fitted an ECV they appear to work well.

Its quite a wide wheel for the front - what width do you intend for the rear? Offset of 15 shouldn't be an issue with regard to brembo's - a 15 offset will clear brembos much better than say a weak offset of 30 to 40. Your bigger issue is gonna be rubbing on the wheel arch but then its not difficult to roll the arches either. TBH I wouldn't put a 10 inch wide rim on the front of the Zed as you're going to have to put a similarly wide (e.g. 275) tyre on which won't be ideal for an NA Zed's performance - it'll be likely to understeer quite a bit more than normal. -
Buy an exhaust control valve - best of both worlds - you get to keep your decats and the exhaust sounds bad-ass when you want and quieter when you need it to. I sold one last year off my last Zed - goes between Y pipe and centre section and is controled from the cockpit -

You're dead right. For some reason I thought I was on the "Show off your GM Zed" thread. Thats what happens when you've a ton of windows open at once.

Urban4 - that Zed is mint - v tasty indeed. Heres one of my GM Zed from a 1/4 mile event last weekend - if you look hard enough you'll be able to pick it out from the other totty!

I just changed my front discs to Performance Friction (+ DS2500 pads) and also bought a set of the titanium shims from Alex on here. (From reading about them on Zed forums) I'm lead to believe they're the dogs danglies but I've yet to take the Zed back on the road to find out.

Looks to me like you've circled the camber arm - the toe arm is higher up

What were you searching on ebay for to find "quality part porn"?

That is absolutely shocking. WTF is Mikey Graham (from Boyzone) doing in it? Looks like a film that was made by pikeys using their Ma's VHS camcorder for a pikey audience. Should do well so.

Yep - they're 18inch grid drifts - less weight than the LMGT's and I don't need to worry about damaging them off Irish roads - cheap to replace. Stuck a set of R888's on and the improvement in traction/grip has been immense. Ran a 1/4 mile with the new Kaaz diff and R888's last weekend. Ran a 13.2 vs a 13.9 on the same track with the OE viscous diff/LMGT's and F1 Eagle tyres. Thats some improvement in time by just changing the diff and tyres/rims.

+1 "Lip" on the Amuse (shine copy) is just some cheapo CF splitters from ebay - put them on to protect the actual bumper. Don't mind loosing them cause I bought spares. The actual proper CF splitter costs at least as much as the bumper again and wouldn't last a day on the roads over here (West of Ireland). http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUTOTECK ... ccessories

I like the Comps as well - real track look to the car. I thought about getting a set of those for my Zed as trackday rims but eventually went with Rota Drifts (TE37 copies) as they are cheap and easy to replace and actually weight less than the 19inch LMGT's I ran. If you are going to run the comps make sure you run an aggressive offset (or spacers to help) - otherwise I don't think you'll pull off the look.

Maybe he's adding on the power of his massive stereo and speakers to the engine bhp? You'd think the "Toyko Professionals" would have thought about upgrading the Jap poverty spec brakes to at least the brembos if they were running anywhere near 500bhp.
-
Like the bulge - not sure how it would fit in with the SC though? Its already very tight with the OE bonnet. Does the bulge take space anywhere else in the engine bay as the OE bonnet is already rubbing off the APS strut brace and APS plenum?

Master grade diffuser. Sarah (Chilli Red) sorted me out for the diffuser, CF roof overlay and Shine Amuse front bumper.
