  1. Be interested in the answer to this too (as my Vortech filter will sooner or later do with a clean) - however I don't think its a K&N - often wondered if a HKS mushroom filter would fit in the space?
  2. Thats fantastic info Alex - I'll get the diff opened (or at least my mechanic mate will) and check out the tolerances. Thanks again Shane
  3. Thanks Alex - Yes it is the 24 plate Kaaz diff - It came with the Kaaz install manual - I'm just kinda stuck on what size shims I need and where to source them. I'll get the diff opened and measure them up I guess. It may be possible that the existing shims will be the correct size. If not do you know where to source shims - I guess these don't exactly come with OE part No.s?
  4. I'm fitting a new Kaaz 2 way diff at the moment - not as straightforward as I thought it'd be and need some advice re additional bits needed to get the diff set-up reliably. I have already bought diff and extra piece to convert to 1.5 way plus gear oil etc. Also bought the 10 ring gear bolts, Circlips x2 , side oil seals x2 and side bearings x 2 but I understand I may also need to get hold of the correct sized shims for my 03 ex-UK car (the supercharged Zed that used to be owned by Spills and Dave). Can anyone shed any light on what shims I need to get hold of as my local Nissan stealer can't really help much? They mentioned there was 12 different sizes of shims - will I have to open the diff to find out what size I need? (and therefore this will take a lot longer than expected as the Zed will be out of action while I source the shims).
  5. These are Topspeed reasonated decats and come with anti foulers for the check light. Had these on my Zed before - very high quality - would be surprised if you could buy them new and include anti foulers for less than 200GBP.
  6. The Intercooler on my Vortech SC Zed is hidden behind a meshed Nismo V2 and tbh is almost impossible to see unless you really look - hence I am changing to an Amuse front bumper and will just put mesh in the sides and leave the front open. Whether you use mesh or not will largely depend upon the design of your front bumper - as previously mentioned the ideal would be not too in your face - just enough to make out the intercooler.
  7. My Zed has had the N2 spoiler with and without canards. I prefer the cleaner look. Having said that I'm now waiting for a Shine Amuse front bumper from Envy.
  8. How do you change the diff oil in the standard viscous diff? I was of the impression that its non-serviceable?? What diff oil did you use?
  9. What diff are you running that you had to change the oil?
  10. Adam - if you were doing a few track days/1.4 miles per year combined with some road work what diff would you go with?
  11. My Zed is in getting a Kaaz 2way (converted to 1.5way for road) diff fitted at the moment. Its not about oversteer per se - its about more controllable oversteer and getting traction/grip down in and out of corners. IMHO the standard viscous diff is rubbish - at least it was in my last two Zeds. It may be down to it loosing its effectiveness over a couple of years but it certainly wasn't up to putting down the 400BHP/360Ibft on my present Zed on either 1/4 mile or track. The diff shouldn't be particularly noisy if the backlash is set-up correctly and broken-in properly. Regular diff oil changes with the correct oil will also help here. If its clunking/whining excessively then backlash is either too loose/too tight. If you are going for road use then a 1.5way diff will be most suitable. I wouldn't personally want anymore than an 60-80% lock up either - something to keep in mind when setting up the diff.
  12. Yip - Had these on my last Zed and they worked fine with both standard and RSR exhaust I had fitted so you should have no probs.
  13. I have spare topspeed resonated decats (running hiflow kinetix on my SC Zed) - excellent decats that will prevent the vibrations and rasp you get from non-resonated decats. These also come with antifoulers (inc. in pic) to prevent the engine check light from illuminating. Was holding onto them cause I was considering swapping them out with the hiflows for a bit more power/sound but will sell for 85GBP inc shipping (I have to ship from Ireland).
  14. Yep - Orig owned by Spills and another mate (Dave350Z) here in Ireland before I got hold of it. Presently running 404bhp/354Ibft torque (Dave fitted a Utec and modified the SC belt) - Kaaz diff and some styling mods are in the process of being added at the mo.
  15. Last Zed on 18 inch Gunmetal Rota GTR's with Eibachs springs: Present (supercharged) Zed on 19 inch Nismo LMGT's and Tein SS coilovers:
  16. You guys would be very welcome over here. All I can add is to head West - there are some fantastic roads on this side of the country.
  17. Nice pics but a 15.4 is rather poor for a standard Zed. My last NA Zed (276bhp) ran consistant 14.1 sec 1/4 miles (0-60 in 5.1 secs) so you really should be aiming for early 14's. Out of curiosity - what tyres were you running - was the track wet/damp/dry? - any mods whatsoever (is it a 296bhp model?) Present Supercharged Zed (400bhp/350Ib.ft torque))is quite a bit quicker - hoping that the addition of an uprated LSD and R888's will solve my present traction problems on the 1/4 mile.
  18. I am having an issue with my rear right hand side lamda sensor - I recently ran over a piece of metal on the road and it damaged the decat pipe and possibly the sensor as well. I put back on the Cats and reset the ECU but the CEL light has stayed on. Nissan stealers have quoted me big bucks for the lamda sensor - is there any other options out there? Is there a universal option with a 4 wire connector and 18mm thread? Kev/Phil perhaps?
  19. Hi guys - I'm a bit of a lurker on here and thought that it was about time I introduced myself and Zed. Have the Zed for almost 2 years now - imported it as a bog standard "ST" and have made a few changes since - the usual suspects really - CF induction cutout / Popcharger / Kinetix plenum / Iridiums / Topspeed Decats / ESR Y pipe / RSR exhaust / Rota rims / CF Nismo splitter and Nismo V2 CF rear spoiler / INGS skirts and rear bumper and a few other bits and bobs.
  20. I'm guessing this means that the 350z's have a limited slip diff then? They do yes - and its a proper mechanical one. News to me! - I was under the impression it was a Viscous LSD?
