  1. I've had a JDM Zed previously and now have a UK Zed and tbh I think the JDM rear plate recess suit the lines of the Zed better - even more so when you start to mod. my 1st Zed on JDM plate (anyone recognise the house?)- then with an INGs rear on JDM plate Present SC Zed with UK plate
  2. Kaaz come as a 2 way diff - though I'll be running it as a 1.5 way to make it more driveable on the road. My Avatar is actually the Zed at Mondello - hope to give it a proper run a few times this year. I won't be going down the road of Launch control - I'm hoping the extra traction from the R888's and the Kaaz will be sufficient to see me into the 4's for the 0-60 sprint and the late 12's for the 1/4 mile. The standard viscous diff is really pants for getting power down esp when you add FI.
  3. If you're going to Ireland for the stag - then I'd avoid Dublin if I where you. West of Ireland - Galway or Kenmare would be far better craic - cheaper hotels and food and loads of activites such as quads, clay pigeon shooting, paintball etc.
  4. Back to the 0-60 in a Zed topic. My NA Fairlady ST with a few breathing mods (RSR,Y pipe, decat, Kinetix plenum, CAI Popcharger) - had a recorded 0-60 of 5.1 in a 1/4 mile sprint. My present 400bhp/354Ib.ft UK Supercharged Zed with a hell of a lot more performance mods could just manage a 0-60 of 5.4 secs on the same strip of 1/4 mile. A lot is down to how you get the power down on the road. Thats why 4WD cars tend to have faster 0-60 times. For the record to try and address the SC Zeds traction issues I have fitted R888's and hope to have my Kaaz diff finally in shortly.
  5. Very nice - out of interest - how does the M3 compare to the Zed?
  6. The canards bolt on to the bumper in two places and are actually quite sturdy. Re a rear bumper - Nismo just do rear spats on the V1 and V2 kits. If you went for some CF canards you could compliment them with something like the Top Secret CF rear diffuser or the Chargespeed rear with CF - viewtopic.php?f=118&t=28366
  7. The Nismo V2 canards were on my Zed previously - now off the Zed and at home in the shed - think it looks cleaner without.
  8. Closest you will get are the 19inch Rota GTR's - they come in a flat black colour though I had them in a dark gunmetal colour on my last Zed. If you want that "drift look" then you'll need to get 9.5inch all round and a fairly aggressive offset (20 or thereabouts which may require arches slightly rolled) though 245 width tyres on the front will be fairly stretched. I got a set of gunmetal Rota Grid Drifts recently in a 20 offset - prefer these to the GTRs. Using them for track work (already have 19inch Rays LMGTs for the road).
  9. DR's would def be better alright for the 1/4 mile - but I need a tyre that'll cover the trackdays as well. I think the combination of the Kaaz diff and the R888's will significantly improve my times on both 1/4 mile and track.
  10. For the 14.1 in the NA Zed I had 275/40 18 Bridgestone Potenzas running at 22psi on the rear and 40psi on the front. For the 13.9 in the SC Zed I had 275/40 18 Goodyear F1 DSD3's running as same psi as above. Has to be said that this was a once a year 1/4 mile event and the track was very dusty both years. Traction was the big issue esp with the SC.
  11. Good point - My 400bhp supercharged Zed wasn't significantly quicker than my previous NA Zed (300bhp approx) over the 1/4 mile 13.9 (SC) vs 14.1 (NA). This was all down to traction. In fact my previous NA Zed had a quicker 0-60 time of 5.1 secs (NA) vs 5.4secs (SC). However I've addressed this by buying a set of trackday 18's with Toyo R888's and am just now in the process of fitting a Kaaz diff so this should see my 1/4 mile times fall significantly. Next 1/4 mile isn't untill Mar though so won't know result till then. My Zed already has Tein Superstreets with EDFC and Nismo Anitroll Bars + control arms + upgraded clutch and lightweight flywheel so theres not much more I can do to improve the drivetrain.
  12. I have a RRS as a daily driver - absolutely totally different cars - the RRS is far superior in this type of weather but as soon as we're back in + degrees I'll be back in the Zed. The RRS is a seriously comfortable and roomy bus but the Zed has everything else - looks, performance, handling and better reliability. However if you had to pick two cars to own - you could do much worse than owning these two - they really do complement each other.
  13. Nope - VRT is now based on emmisions - over 225 CO2 and your into an additional 36% tax on the car purchase price + VAT (Open Market Sellin Price). This also applies to 2nd hand car sales so the Zed is also very expensive to import from the UK/Japan. The car market over here has basically crashed - not surprising really as it was pretty much taxed out of existance - add in the recession (and people no longer buying new cars) and there is no longer much of a car market to speak about. Large dealerships have closed down all over the place and its impossible to sell a large capacity petrol car. The Irish government have within the past couple of weeks brought out a scrappage scheme (on cars 10years and older) - too little/too late if you ask me - they were massively greddy for years as the motorist was such a soft touch - you have to own a car as theres no public transport to speak about especially where I live in the West of Ireland - yet instead of reducing their motor taxs when times got harder they choose to increase motor/fuel taxes and basically killed off any chance of a recovery in the motor trade. They ended up shooting themselves in the foot as the tax take fell through the floor as people just didn't spend the money on cars. Heres a slide of new car sales in Ireland in 2009 - says it all I think - http://www.motorcheck.ie/blog/stats/?y=2009&cat=1 149,000 cars sold in 2008 (itself not a great year for car sales) - 55,000 cars sold in 2009 - looking much worse for 2010.
  14. Combination of factors the largest of which is an extra tax called VRT (which is calculated on the orig price + VAT) - this was brought in as a vehicle registration tax - though as the EU has been making noises about it being an illegal tax - the Irish government are now starting to base this tax on emissions so they can play the green card. Add in the €1600 per year I pay in road tax on the Zed (and a further €1400 on the Range Rover) and Ireland is a very expensive place to own and run a nice car. The only good part about it (as a Zed owner) is that Zeds are as rare as hens teeth over here and they're only gonna get rarer.
  15. They haven't even bothered to release the 370Z in Ireland. There are still a couple of "new" 350Z models for sale - a snip at €69,000. - http://www.carzone.ie/search/Nissan/350 ... annel=CARS The real problem is though that the Porsche Cayman undercuts the 350Z on price - €65,000 new.
  16. tha Who says I need to transport anything? An electrician needs a small tool bag with a snips, screw drivers and a few other bits and bob's the tool bag would be the siza of a small kit bag. Think of all the tradesmen who drive the country day after day in vanettes & van's carrying nothing more than a few bits and bobs From what I understand from Irish regulations the volume of the cargo (rear area) must exceed the volume of the seating area - I'd say thats fairly touch and go on the Zed. I'm not trying to knock the idea - it'd be fantastic if this works out - I'm not fond of giving the government €1600 a year in road tax for the Zed.
  17. I'll be watching this thread with interest as I've been paying a shocking amount of road tax on my last two Zeds over the past few years. I think the biggest issue you will have is trying to convince the law that you are using the 350Z for commercial purposes - I mean the space in the back is not exactly suitable for transporting anything of a commercial nature.
  18. Why? +1 A doggie harness will save your dogs life (and possibly yours too) in the event of a crash. If you've ever had to brake hard with a dog in the car you'll know its important.
  19. I would have no problem putting my King Charles Spaniel in the front facing compartment of the Zeds boot provided he had a doggy harness on (connected to the strut brace) - safer than having him harnessed on the front seat IMHO. Haven't had to test the theory yet though - I use the Range Rover Sport (daily driver) for transporting the dogs.
  20. Heres the car alarm in my Zed - On a more serious note - I'm sure a toy dog like our King Charles would be fine in the front compartment of the Zed boot if properly harnessed (to the strut brace).
  21. Not bad looking spacers - at least they're not the universal type crap spacers. However I think you'll get caught out on the centre bore which AFAIK is 66.1 on the Zed.
  22. My Vortech last rolling roaded at 354 Ib/ft torque (have seen higher torque figures previously) - + circa 400bhp. Pretty respectable rise in torque on a standard Zed IMHO. Wouldn't like to chance either a turbo or supercharged running more power or torque without having a built block and thats gonna run into mega bucks. If you need 400bhp and a nice rise in torque - go supercharger - I love the supercharged whine and the incredibly linear power band right through the rev range. It feels like just the right amount of power for the Zed. If you want mega power then turbo is absolutely the best route but you will also be spending much bigger bucks on building your engine and I would imagine loosing much of the day to day driveability.
  23. My supercharger belt slips and squeels on start up and for the first min or so - changing the belts didn't seem to make much difference and the tension is fine (don't want to put too much pressure on cog and pulley bearings by tightening it any more). I bought a can of a belt grip spray that I spray on every couple of weeks and it stops the squeeling. If the belt is just damp try sprinkling a little talcum powder on top (mind the fingers).
  24. I use a Range Rover Sport as my daily driver - the Zed has had a long rest recently with the very wet and now very cold weather we've had over the past couple of months. The Zed would have been undriveable on the West of Ireland roads for the most part. The RRS is a very comfortable bus - a couple of small niggles (easily sorted) has been a small price to pay for owning one over the X5 etc.
  25. Nicely modded (and very well known) FTO - I've had two of them. Lovely sounding mivec engine though you really need to keep it in the mivec zone (5500rpm - 8400rpm) to shift. The RWD Zed is a nice move though - much more power available lower down and theres even more mods avail for the Zed than the FTO.
