  1. Crazy. I don't understand that at all, it's only a car! How do you manage driving on the roads, all those crazy madmen speeding past you at 30mph must be awful!
  2. Ouch! Glad to see you're okay, could've been really nasty.
  3. I used it a couple of weeks back, but I didn't use it all and the bottle is still fine.
  4. Wait, what? So if there was no end space you'd just turn around and go home?
  5. We're with Pru Health at work, and our policy is excellent. It might not be the cheapest, but they certainly cover everything and are a pleasure to deal with over the phone. They're who I claimed through when I had my back operation last year, and that was as smooth as I could've hoped for.
  6. Must be you, my bottle was fine
  7. I was told that all those yellow flowers in the fields in the summer were mustard plants. It wasn't until I was 23 when I asked my girlfriend at the time why she was allergic to mustard plants that I finally discovered they were rapeseed. I argued the toss in the car all the way home until I could google it and discovered the sad truth that I'd been lied to by my parents
  8. Need? Never. Nice to have? When you've done all the breathing mods you intend to do (exhaust, intake, plenum etc).
  9. Of course they can. Anyone can request your details from the DVLA assuming they have a good reason: How else do the private ticketing companies get your details?
  10. Not a problem at all, as long as you handle it in the right way. Correct way is for the remaining finance to be paid off over the phone by the purchaser with the owner making the initial call, that is then followed up immediately by a confirmation email from the finance company confirming that they consider the debt settled and have no further interest in the vehicle. Purchaser can then take the car knowing the car is clean, and the ex-owner is sure that the money was legit and the finance company won't come chasing.
  11. £20 for a quality form of photo ID that lasts you for 10 years? That would seem to be a bit of a bargain to me. Can tell where you're from
  12. Who on earth told you that? They don't have to honour anything if you've not paid them a penny.

    Will they be ok?

I wouldn't bother upgrading my brakes just for 15mins at Japfest Better off investing in new mirrors, keep an eye out for all the numpties that will be on track with you! I've tracked on stock brakes, they're fine. If the pedal starts to go long, just back off your braking a tad.

    am i mad

It's a 300bhp sports coupe. It has plenty enough power.
  15. I may not agree with you, but fair play for your man maths!
  16. I had decent phone coverage everywhere, just very little data coverage. You'll be fine if you need to make a phonecall, less so if you want to check out film trailers on the go.
  17. Can't see a 3L Z4 being great on depreciation either One Z4 is a generic roadster with a pretty good engine that's built for posing and fuel economy over dynamics, and one Z4 is a purposeful sports car with all the benefits and pitfalls that entails, and fitted with one of the all-time great engines. I know which one I'd choose.
  18. Yeah, you really don't want to be with a mainstream insurer when you've done an FI conversion on any car. Even if your premium doubles, it'll be worth it to have some proper cover. £500 of mods wouldn't cover a lot on the Porker Wouldn't do too badly on the Impreza though, might have to get Jo to call them and add that on I think.
  19. Ooh, didn't know that, thanks! Not sure whether that's a bit cheeky or a bit handy really, I suspect the former. Do you know the percentage by any chance?
  20. Just bear in mind you're not covered for the value of those mods should you need to claim, so you'd only get standard stuff back We're with them on the Impreza. Great result though, that's a good price!
  21. Not trying to be funny, but what did you expect? That's what salespeople do, that's what they've always done and that's what they'll do until the end of time. Car insurance is the one that usually crops up on here when they quote high first of all, and then magically drop their prices once you have a better quote, but that's how business works. Granted, it sounds like the bloke may have been a bit more abrupt that a good salesman should be, but in terms of his tactics he's done exactly the right thing. Quote a little high hoping you've got a sucker, then drop to under the lowest quote if you can but give a deadline so that the customer feels like they should go for it now, and hope you don't get booted out of the door. You did the right thing booting, I'd have done the same. Don't take it personally, the guy is probably under some very tight sales targets and this is how his company wants him to sell. He knows that if he leaves then he won't get the commission as it'll go back into the pot and the next guy out may well get it, so why bother leaving a card? It's a crappy way of doing things, I know, but it's how the world works and none of us should be surprised by that. The companies that don't do that and actually offer their best price in the first place in a pleasant manner are the ones that get the repeat business, but usually only end up staying local. Sadly it's the guys that do do the above (or similarly harsh) tactics that get all the big money and end up at the top of the pile, but they're still considered cnuts by the majority of the public. See Ryanair, Tesco et al. It's a crap world, but unfortunately it's just how it works. I'm with Rich, I would never have considered ringing them in the first place.
  22. You won't get super in the highliands, full stop. I'm glad I took plenty of OB with me when I went, you'll want a bottle per fillup. That route will be awesome, although I'd suggest dropping down through the Cairngorms if you have the time instead of coming straight down from Inverness (towards N on your map), it's a far more exciting drive and coming over the mountains is incredible. I'll dig out my TT files for you that I used on my LeJog trip a couple of years ago if you like?
