  1. I'd rather smear my own faeces on my car than use anything with Simoniz on it. Would give better results, too.
  2. I've been known to be able to make people feel sick on track quite easily, I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or not...!
  3. If you haven't booked up already, you're going to struggle to get anything at this point. Some places have a handful of camping sites left, but they won't be the better ones. Saying that, as long as you have somewhere to sleep, then that's all that matters really! Tickets for the main event can be bought on the gate, but for ease you might as well just pay the extra and get them from your operator. I'd definitely get a grandstand, that way you're guaranteed the sun is going to shine all weekend whereas if you didn't then you know it's going to rain Le Mans is one of those events that's different for everyone, and there's no right or wrong way to enjoy it. And I'll second the 'don't speed' thing. Having had my licence confiscated and relieved of 750EU at a cash point (never mind them chasing me for another 750EU when I got home), I can confirm they don't much around. That said, you can have a laugh with the gendarmes when they're trying to fill the paperwork out and you don't speak French: You try miming 'plumber'...!
  4. And if you don't want it to flood if you need to turn it off, hold the revs at 4k when you switch the ignition off. Just budget for a rebuild, around a grand and you'll have it sorted
  5. Yeah, decided to make the most of the trip, bit more time to relax
  6. We're going out on Weds at 8:20 on the Tunnel, returning Mon at 17-something.
  7. Yup, should be fine. Keeps the 20mm stagger, and 245s do fit on 9.5" rims (just!).
  8. I know a bloke who can get you a cheap sawn-off, no questions like.
  9. Your chicken, your responsibility.
  10. Purple Haze does smell amazing though
  11. There is no best option, just what you prefer. Soft wax is easier to work with but doesn't provide as much protection long-term, and hard wax is the exact opposite. With DJ stuff, I'd go for the harder option but tbh there's not that much difference. Actually, I wouldn't use either, I'd grab a jar of Supernatural instead as it's a billion times better. Easier to use AND lasts longer, with a better finish. Don't worry about getting a full tub, even a panel pot will last you a couple of years on a Zed.
  12. So the wheel could expand to meet the caliper, then?
  13. No insurance company has the authority to write a car off, unless you give them permission to. The only person who can write a car off is the owner, after advice from the insurance company.
  14. But if you'd changed insurers or haggled, then you wouldn't have paid a penny more. That said, that's just very bad luck that it happened when your wife was driving your car. Same thing with me, I was driving someone else's car and they had to claim off their insurance, meaning they have to declare an accident they weren't even a part of. That bit does suck.
  15. You cannot be compensated for a future loss as you have no idea what that extra will be. Tbh it could be as low as zero, or an amount not even worth worrying about. I have an at-fault claim on my driving record, and the increase is about £30 a year extra. Absolute peanuts! I can only imagine how tiny the extra will be on an at-fault claim. If it's too high, then simply move insurers.
  16. This! The Focus must live on!
  17. Sounds pretty clear to me. If you have a covenant stating you must keep the pathway clear for access, then you cannot fence it off inside your garden.
  18. I really hope that somewhere there's footage of Toto and Arnie together. That would be a combination never to mess with!
  19. Boo to me, camera didn't get all the fun stuff However, it did get this little bit, which is me chasing down a mate in his 231 RX8. His car is stripped and on 888s with Yellowstuff pads, and the driver knows Anglesey as well as me. So I'm at least 500kg heavier, on MPSS with OEM brakes but do have about 100bhp more... I had to work really, really hard to keep up with him, which is no mean feat on a track that is completely unsuited for big barges. I was practically sweating by the time I left the car afterwards, serious workout! Great fun though, and it's surprising how quick the BMW can be hustled. I was pulling about 115mph down the back straight before lifting for the run up to the Rocket complex, and I reckon if I'd had decent brakes and a willingness to kill them I could've eked another 5mph out of that. Apparently there were quite a few people wondering what the hell someone was doing tracking a 6 series, according to sources ear wigging on the pitwall
  20. Agreed. Trouble is, how do you ban someone having a sh*t-hot engine? Power restrictions? Well sure, that'd work, but it's a bit harsh and you'd have to apply it to all the Merc-engined cars to be fair, and if you're going down that route then you might as well just have a homologated engine to share between the field. Merc are ahead by having an awesome engine and chassis, not by bending the rules. RB were masters at that, as were Williams and McLaren in previous years, but this time the car in front is there by doing things absolutely by the book. To penalise that would be incredibly unfair.
  21. They really don't load it as much as people think they do. Why bother with insurance if you're never going to use it? What if he changes his story? What if the repairs are crap? What if he doesn't agree with the price? Just hand it over and stop worrying about it
  22. Given you bought new wheels with the correct offset and were assured they would fit over the Brembos, why have you not just sent them back to get what you ordered?
  23. As I just said on FB, just call your insurer and let them sort it. That's what you pay £500 a year for!
  24. Or to work quicker
  25. Wales to win, Ireland to win, England to choke again and lose to France. Title to the paddies, I reckon.
