Kept an eye on it - Was interested in the ESX 3i thing for blades. We have a bladecentre I was looking to get ESX running on and that would probably be the best way. Not looked at costs - guessing it costs even more than ESX which is the stopper for me at the mo. Quite hard to justfy the cost of the full bladecentre again just for ESX on all the blades. Never know VMware could do us a parner deal lol

US teen trades hacked iPhone for Nissan 350Z
Rob_Quads replied to stevie_350z's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Give it a year or so of being out and there will be hacks out there. Anything that has a big profile i.e. DVDs, HD-DVDs, iPhones etc will always be cracked due to the respect you get for cracking it i.e. DVD-Jon etc. Lesser things like the codec Sky+ Boxes could be cracked but there is not a bit enough market for enough people to be trying -
I'll be there all the 350 will be staying home. Will either be getting a lift or taking up a friend 206. Will be mostly round the kicker stand no doubt

Might only be a small difference but would still need a completely new mould so as said - surprising they bothered (maybe they could have designed it to go just below the plates?

Doh - sorry wrong thread

Not sure if its a sign of how softly my cars been driven (got it with 27 on the clock now 36) but I have only just changed the brakes all round and the backs had a surprising amount still on there. 99% sure they had not been done before as I have receipts for everything else that had been done

May well have to hold to the 12 month warranty but could stop it there and remove the normal 3 year warranty
-
Anything beyond statuary rights they can do what they like.

Interesting developments about the warranties - Nissan are considering voiding 2nd owner warranties if they are sold on within a year (to stop people flipping them and making some money on them)

IMO As long are you have informed them that its got the decat it will be fine. If the cars in an accident such that its a right off I am going to hazzard a guess and say the engine will not run thus there would be no way to prove it would fail the emissions - that said I have never heard of anyone refused insurance on a modified car due to it being illegal (where they informed them of the mod that is) If the assessor comes and looks at the car they are only going to bother looking for things that could affect crashes etc - the exhaust is not really going to make much difference. They are much more liable to pick up stuff like different suspension etc.

I'm 28 - I would say the age of people owning these sorts of cars have come down recently for various reasons such as Larger number of young people in IT/London with more disposible cash Years ago when houses were 60K/80K to spend 20K on a car seemed a hell of a lot. Now where the same houses are costing 180/200K to spend 20K does not seem as much money. I know quite a few who have thought sod it, if I can't buy a house I am going to enjoy myself when I am young. Cars getting cheaper someone mentioned the Supra - typical example - generally I would say the Supra and 350z were similar - it cost 50K, now the 350z costs ~25K

Its generally very well organised. Unfortunatly its only 15 minute sessions you get and if anyone goes off the track during your session then its cancelled and everyone is pulled off while they retrieve the car - as a result of this it means that most people are well behaved as they don't wan't everyone else on the session to get on thier case. There are normally some sessions availlable towards the end of the day - the morning and early afternoon are normally booked up well beforehand.

He is correct in saying its not thatcham approved. Generally if you were to get it fitted you would get your Cat 1 part of the alarm installed - get the certificate and then add the remote start afterwards, then you would have a certificate you could show to the insurance if they asked (although technically it would not be valid. AFAIK there are no remote start mechanisms that re thatcham approved.
-
having it fitted does not make it legal. technically it is illegal to use it on the public highways. Something like you are not allowed to start your car without you being in it - can't remember the exact law but there is one BUT that said I have never heard of anyone convicted for it. As long as you go for a decent one ie the clifford then you should be fine. There are many dodgy ones out there which people fit where its possible to start the car any time resulting in car lurching due to being in gear etc. I had it on my old car and it is VERY useful in the winter months. Start it 5 minutes before walking to the car and its all nice and warm and windows are defrosted.

Although there are always the usual chavs TRAX imo is the best show of the year. First if you want you get the chance to drive the full F1 circuit in your own car also get to see some very powerful cars out there. There is normally a good selection of VERY power skylines, evos etc - the likes of Norris Designs etc normal are there.

Nope - The standard headunit is slightly smaller and made by Clarion. It's used in the X-trail too. However, in the US, their standard headunit is the same size as the Bose! The Bose unit is also made by Clarion!

That is way off for a P1 - I got mine done st Sparshatts (down a M27 a few juntions from you) for £120 + oil supplied. Sounds more like a quite for a P2 than a P1

Sounds about right price wise. I know a normal round at Royal Troon was £220 for the day (i.e. morning & afternoon rounds). Lucky for me it cost £5er

Just bought this stonking driver (Golf Driver, not car!)
Rob_Quads replied to rickya's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Wouldn't go that far. My short game is what saves me. I used to be very wild but I slowly taming my drives and long irons. You don't want to know how many balls I lots at Troon - that is one place that is NOT forgiving - miss the fairways by 3 yards and its bye bye ball half the time. That or you land in a bunker and have to play back. -

Rob_Quads replied to rickya's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Looks good. Had a few days up in Scotland playing golf last week, played a couple times at Royal Troon then at another course near Glassgow. Will need to start looking at getting another driver soon, not really played mine at all as I am not comfortable with it. Lucky for me the 3 iron was going well. Hit 1 fareway shot on a par 5 256yrs which I was very happy with (although the people on the green were not lol) Played with my cousins and they hit the odd stonking drive 330+. Watching someone hit a good strike is sooo impressive. -
Using steering wheel controls with aftermarket unit
Rob_Quads replied to Chesterfield's topic in I.C.E & Electronics
Tut site Admin not using the search http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6941 The new PAC units can also control units other than Alpine i.e. JVC etc -
What a supprise a stealer who knows sod all. Recharging your air-con will make NO difference to an smells - all it will do it potentially made it work better i.e. colder. if you find you have some smells I found this very good on my old car. It basicly tries to get rid of bad bacteria in the ducts etc http://www.commaoil.com/Product%20Pages/Maintenance/airconclean.htm

What you are proposing to do is illegal. That said it will work fine. It will not care about it being installed on a few machines. You only hit problems when lots and lots of people try using the same key i.e. it gets released on tinternet. There are certain keys around they can't ban due to big corps using it and it being too much work to ask them to change every machine

Connecting up the wing mirrors to the remote central locking
Rob_Quads replied to 350Satch's topic in 350Z Technical
I am sure the wiring will be the but the problem with all things on modern cars is that it all controlled by the CANBUS. Using the old systems it would be easy to trigger a signal to the mirrors for the locking but its much harder now. I suspect the option on the JDM means you can go to a dealer and get them to plug in their computers and set it up. I doubt this feature is enabled on the European computers otherwise they would offer it as an option here too.
