Alot of people now think this is not a nissan at all but infact its just the body being used to test the new Toyota FT-HS
-
IMO to get more sales it would need to be mirror polished
-
You just have to be very very careful when you are going that speed as if anything happens - someone else's fault or yours, you will be found at fault if you are above the suggested speed limit Lane behavoir in Germany is generally much better than over here. You won't get something pottering along at 80 in the outside lane if the middle lane is free

Ah gotcha - I agree within warranty although legally you can go elsewhere due to the value of the car and the ease of sale I would definatly say stick to dealer service. Out of warranty like where I am is where it gets tricky between dealer and not. Doing it yourself on a car of this sort of value IMO is not a good idea if you are looking to sell it soon. If your going to be keeping it till its a 10K car etc then its may well be worth it.

But what do receipts prove? There is no guarantee those parts were even used to service the car? For me its about accountability no matter how incompetent the dealer is. If I buy a lambo that has had a new clutch fitted by a dealer 300 miles before, and it goes, It will be going back to that dealer to argue the toss as not fit for purpose, call trading standards or the local press etc. If I buy one that has been serviced by a non dealer or independant garage that give me no peace of mind of the cars traceable history from the last oficial stamp in the book to present day. End result? I walk away. I don't understand what the difference is in terms of tracability. If you got it fitted at a dealer and it goes tits up then you would go back to the dealer. If you had it fitted by a garage and it went tits up you would go back to the garage? It would be the same outcome i.e. it would be down to the garage to sort it. Going on the reports from Nissan warranty service working with a Nissan garage is not going to be any 'better' than working with any other garage. That said I'm talking about standard service items like you oil/filter/brake fluids

There have been a few threads around this topic and its often the first service people have out of warranty so are more likely to look else where to get it done. I have been trying to work out what it is and this is what I have found. I am not going to list all the Inspection points in the service book only the replace/major items Replace Engine Oil - Pro S 5W-40 Replace Engine Oil Filter - Replace LSD Gear Oil - Is this needed?- One service I have an inspection mark the other a NA mark? NCVT Fluid Chage? - Again I have it marked as NA on one service? Replace Brake Fluid - Any preferance on type? Replace Air Cleaner Filter - Replace PCV Filter? - What is this??? Replace Cabin Air Filter Replace Spark Plugs - I thought these were only needed around 50K miles Fuel Filter - Marked as maintenance free in on the service sheet Replace Coolant - Only if not done at 3 years So anyone got any thoughts on the queries , guide prices / part numbers for Nissan parts?

Even with receipts for those geniune parts? What about if another garage had done with with geniune or better parts

I'm in exactly the same situation. Car is now out of warranty and due the P3 service. Local Nissan places (Southampton) have quoted £330, £280 and £280 for the service. Its the sort of service that most places will do for £100 supplying the oil. Its a case of will I make £150 back when selling the car due to it being serviced at a Nissan garage rather than a local one?

IMO if all you are worried about is the seats then go for the non-GT, save your money and spend it on an aftermarket leather & alcantara retrim. Get Alcantara centres which then feel more luxurious than leather IMO and does not get as hot or cold. A pro trimmer could also put in some seat heaters too if you wanted them

Whats the secret to this system - the blob ellimator? what does it actually do?
-
There 'may' be some truth in what he says but its too general a statement. If you go for 19" wheels with the correct tyre fitment it should not make a difference as you are so close to the original size wheel and the ration front -> back remains the same. If you get the wrong offsets it could screw things up as you could have a rolling radius that is way out and also a ratio front -> back thats way out

Nice looking silver Nismo parked up in Waitrose this after noon. Personalised plate X???M. Looked nice and tidy

They should definatly be informing that buyers the cars have been modified as those changes 'should' legally be declared to any insurance company as the car is no longer a standard car. The fact they are standard UK panels make no difference.
-
I find the high shine silver much much better looking than normal wheels. My old Dares had that sort of finish and they were much shiner than normal wheels. Most Kahn wheels also come in a high-shine silver rather than the standard finish. As someone said. When parked up against someone who has standard finish the difference is very obvious

99.9999% sure the wiring will be fine. That side of things. Even if the cars did not have the buttons they will have still had the wires behind for them. I got the PAC unit for controlling my Alpine head unit - It only listed the newer models but it worked fine with my 2004 unit. Info on my installation can be found at http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic ... hlight=pac

DO busses have tackos? Not sure how long they have to keep them anyway. It would not supprise me if it was true. My short journey to work includes one short windy section with blind corners and crests. The number of times you find a bus going round the corner or over the crest and is outside thier lane is silly. If they bus don't fit then they should not be using the route

When washing a car normally do you notice water marks if the water dries on the car before you dry it?
-
Thats what I heard too....loads of sales hype IMHO You must either have a) a light coloured car or live in a soft water areas. These reduce the hardness of the water thus removing all the watermarks you get on your car if the water dries out on your car while your cleaning it. Its nothing clever. You could get the same effect with any water softener out there its just its in a handy to use packet.

Got the call I never wanted to Get - Ive driven into you car

Sorry Stevey boy but that really does seem like they are taking the ****. Its claims like that by bodyshops that cause insurance costs to be soo high. Your car is how old? 2/3 years. IMO any decent paint shop should easily be able to get a colour match on yours and thus be able to paint the door off the car. At most I would have said that would have been a 1K job. There is definatly no reason to be taking out stuff like the head/tail lights. Even if they were blending the paint they at most should be blending around 12 inches of it. If they are hitting the light area with paint all they are doing is moving the point of blend from being near the door join to near other panel joins. If anything its one of the scams many companys use. They blend it much further along the panel so when the customer looks at the car they look around the replacement/sprayed panels and its joints and think "Oh great match" what they don't look at is the colours on the panels next to it and how they match the panels next to them now. -

Keep your eyes out for those black & yellow ones.....
Rob_Quads replied to Jacko's topic in 350Z General
Sounds fair enough. its the sort of thing that they should get done for. As mentioned they will have just been giving evidence of what they witnessed. In the same way they should be able to get people done for flying down hard shoulders etc. Big difference between then giving evidence in a case like this to one involving speed etc. Black & white cases like going thought a closed lane is simple enough. When judgment is involved its completely different. -
A friend does something similar to that. Ends up traveling up and down the country working on the main pilons, getting lifted by helicopter every so often.
-
She really does believe that she is above soo many people.
-
Its something that I keep meaning to get checked. Changing wheels 'shouldn't' make a difference but if its out it will make it worse. Its really no worse to just changing your wheels.

I don't think an engine bay respray is essential when it comes to resale. As long as its neat and tidy. On this one it will all be black then it won't cause any problems. Its not as if you are going to be hiding that its had a respray with it being a non-factory colour. I doubt someone is going to pay the £500+ extra when buying it that it would cost to fully do the engine bay properly
