  1. Finally got some pics of the new clicky bits that I treated myself to for my b'day Stans Arch rims on Pro II hubs with XT cassette (from Moonglu - excellent chaps, did a very good deal and great service)
  2. +1 Cant beleive they are releasing yet another grey IIRC they have had the back up camera on the JDM model since the 370z was launched. About time they made it available everywhere else.
  3. Sounds like a good price. As with Stew mine was about 500 quid all in but I did it over more half days. Definately get someone local to your test centre, they know all the routes etc. Although don't get too hooked up on nailing the route, as when I had my test I had a car examiner as a stand in so he took me on the car route. Fortunately my instructor had taken me on that too for training so was all good What bike you looking at? Not the best time of year to be passing your test if I'm honest!
  4. If you need some extras, I'm sure me and a mate can make the effort to come. At the moment I am leaving it open to others though And Chris - my garage looks a little like their light tunnel, it has 4 strip lights across the roof in the space of the car (and lights up half the neighbourhood at night with the garage door open
  5. GLWS once again, hope you get the R34 this time around
  6. Hope it works out matey That road demands a gokart of a car if you're not using the Zed. Agree with Stew, get a Clio
  7. Thanks guys, had a pretty good day given that I had to go to work and take on the tube strikes. To my (nice) supprise, they were running one stop between Waterloo and Canary Wharf, so it was easier to get to than usual Maybe - all I will say is click click click click click click (its Amanda's fault, I needed them too, will explain that one when we next see you and Fran!). Pics will go in the MTB Corner thread when I get a minute to take them.
  8. They wont test it, so someone will buy it, play it for more than 10 mins, watch it die and take it back, most likely trading it in against a new one, so you may do them a favour too!
  9. Well worth paying Tim to travel, IIRC his milage charge is very reasonable, and he does travel some distance before charging it, so Surrey shouldnt cost too much
  10. Doesnt sound right to me. but Im no expert Nor me, on my Rotas they had the same spiggot rings front and rear and fit just fine, you could use any ring on any hub.
  11. Yes the auto box is old skool style (with a torque converter) but its very fast at what it does. Its not a DSG style double clutch, so that will be why you are feeling some lag. To me this feels more natural, DSG just doesnt feel right to me, its too seamless, doesnt have any character. Once you get used to it, its very quick at what it does, you just need to relearn how it likes to be driven. Once the torque converter is locked up, its like a manual with the clutch engaged, no breaks in the transmission. Its only if you are on/off a lot that it will unlock. Also I find giving it part throttle/small amounts of throttle, it doesnt lock up very quickly, if you give it a good prod it gets the idea
  12. Handbrake would surely do feck all at those speeds and chances are if you apply enough power to it, you'll lock the rears and spin into the gravel. Best course of action would have been to take it head on and hope the gravel does its job before hitting the tyre wall.
  13. The lack of on/off acceleration is because you have the auto box. It doesnt have a fly wheel, but a torque converter. This is usually very quick to lock up, but if you are on/off when it is not locked, it will feel odd as it takes a slight delay for it to get up to speed and lock, once locked its very responsive. Have a google about torque converters and it will explain all Only way to make the auto quicker is to get new clutch packs and valves for the auto box, but I dont think there are even upgrades for the 370z box yet. Just get used to driving it and you'll get on just fine with it. Was the TT an auto?
  14. Bit of an oldie that isnt it, seem to remember seeing it before
  15. Dont think sidelights need to be bright, main thing you want is a good colour match to the main lights. Good to know the Philips 4000ks are a good match Not sure if its the same in the 370z, but the angle of the 350z sidelights means that with single LED lights, most of it shines out the side and not forwards. To get it to light up bright, you needed multi LED bulbs that lit up all around the fitting not just facing out, but they looked rubbish when not lit. At least with the 370z I think they are hidden behind frosted sections.
  16. I`ve never seen Go Faster stripes in the engine bay before Sure I saw some in your engine bay Darren And yes the go faster stripes were a joke! Some carbon will be making an appearance, but he only stuff I am willing to put on there ATM is slightly expensive
  17. You could fit a relay to turn it off as soon as the IGN comes on, but please dont come back here like many posting that you've had a bit of an accident It can be "oversensitive" on the track, but if you are spinning the wheels on the road and TC is kicking in means you are driving past the limit of the tyres grip, as TC only kicks in when the wheels spin, and that is no good thing in the current climate, so you may want to reconsider leaving it on for the winter.
  18. Not a lot of difference in the exhaust stakes between a 350z and 370z. The Stillen sounds very Nismo like on the 370z, so if you like that sound, I think you will like it. You can always try out the vids on YouTube too. Stillen have brilliant customer service, I would fully recommend going to them direct
  19. Far simpler than that, it just costs too much In the States it didnt offer enough for the cost at their price point, obviously it was better to sell the cars a bit cheaper than include it. The car costs more over here, so they can justify it as on the Infiniti range they are meant to be high end cars and its a USP people are willing to pay for. Quartz is definately the best colour though They werent planning on making it available in this country to start with
  20. Check out http://www.cliosport.net/ - if they are anything like here (not been on in ages) they'll have the best advice Will probably have owners with spare cats and bits for you to try
  21. There doesnt seem to be a lot of info about Scratch Shield, mainly because our main source of info - the US - dont use it much any more, litterally only on the GTR I beleive - the G37S didnt have it after the first model year and Nissan never put it on the 370z out there. Over here, Infiniti do use it on the G37 and Nissan have it on 370z and GTR. It only comes on metallics and pearls. From what I have read, it is an extra resin in the clearcoat which allows the clearcoat to expand slightly. This has restricted movement, so will only cover small scratches to the clearcoat only, if you go through the clearcoat, it wont do anything. Its designed for swirls and very light scratches. Heat activates it (Infiniti confirmed to me that they use heatguns on it), and it pretty much only works once due to the spreading effect having limited movement. Having seen multiple details on it, some have said the paint is a pain as it warms up, swirls go away, it cools and they come back. Others have had more success and have not had this problem, my guess being they use a more agressive compound and generate less heat so cut straight through the clearcoat. Those that work it more, warm it up and get the weird results. Mostly I think going by DW forums, its not hard to deal with.
  22. Insured with Admiral too, but on a multicar policy. I have it on business use, to 20k/year and it cost ~£600 for my part of the policy
