  1. Its spa francorchamps, but its still funny!
  2. cardboard boot floor, not sure it would support clubs!
  3. Are we still talking about luggage nets? Personally speaking mine is oversize and so is my luggage net. It has hooks along the side so it can be clipped to the top loops as well so I can contain alot more beneath it. If I can remember where I got it i'll post up a link...
  4. Everest do this now (yes the double glazing people). http://www.everest.co.uk/flat-roofs.asp as do others. Or for a quick pathup try something like http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=A336134&ts=60527&id=10990
  5. this http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=400474 gets a bit of a mixed review on pistonheads, know nothing about it but it might help you. Dont fancy it myself......
  6. Maybe they do this to control the right foot in the bedding in miles? You're not usally meant to rev a car above 4000 (ish) in the first 1000 miles are you. Would certainly keep me under control. Setting the shift light at this rpm is also very "green" if thats your thing. (okay you probably would be on a teslacars forum if that was your thing and not a Zed one!). The shift light starts flashing 500 rpm before the set speed ie; 3500 which is about peak torque and therefore the most efficient engine speed. Ill get me coat
  7. The XK is pretty standard, they have uprated the brakes and suspension iirc but other than that out of the showroom from what I remember. The dash is lit up like a christmas tree though with warning lights! Traction, abs, etc etc....
  8. it is a great day out, I was surprised at the performance of the XK though, I didnt think it was as good as the Zed. More comfortable yes, but not a sports car (well it is a big GT!)
  9. the mobile masts log your phone position every time it registers with the network or performs a handover (a transition from one mast to another as you move about). Most operators store this data for up to a year but theres nothing to say it couldnt be held longer. They dont just give it to anyone though! Your phone even sends a "dying gasp" to the network when you turn it off to say "I have been turned off" so the network understands its off rather than just gone out of reception (hold your phone near a radio and turn it off to hear the buzzy data stream it sends telling the network whats going on). Precise position triangulation is not what the system offers, it pretty much tells you which is the nearest / strongest signal mast thats serving the call. The most public reporting of this was following the soham murders http://p10.hostingprod.com/@spyblog.org.uk/blog/2003/12/soham_murders_mobile_phones_an.html It has been reported that operators keep the data for up to 6 years for "billing" reasons. You could always try this site......... http://www.sat-gps-locate.com DOH! you beat me to it!
  10. +1 Also, the mint leaf, http://www.mintleafrestaurant.com/ for a cutting edge taste of india on Haymarket (3 mins walk from picadilly circus).
  11. Im very interested............ I would prefer something that stored a few more channels from the CAN bus though (throttle position, revs, speed)
  12. just out of interest, what sort of issues were TDI reporting?
  13. if you have a multimeter measure the resistance between the shield and the pin of the antenna connector - might tell you if the coax is shorted or has water ingress. ******************** EDIT ********************************** Ignore this bit, just re-read the post from the start and you said it just scans so does sound like the antenna. Did you have any sucess with the alternative antenna? *********************************************************** Does the unit display RDS info (ie; does it receive station name infomation) if it does then the antenna is fine and the audio patch from the receiver to the amplifier is stuffed). Try a channel not in your presets as sometimes these are cached. Or if you search for a station by pressing the scan button does it lock onto any? If so (and it doesnt just sweep continually) then its not the antenna. *********************************************************** Do the AM bands work (as these dont normally use the same antenna). If you let us know the results of the above we can try some more.....
  14. I can probably match Steves offer...... but I will expect the 20p toll money to cross pangbourne bridge. We could even have a mini-meet there Steve.
  15. if the tyres are "brand new" they will still have mould release agent on them which takes a 100 miles or so to wear off. The first couple of heat cycles can also affect the tyres so dont push them too hard just yet. Also, as other threads on here have suggested if the rears are brand new and the fronts are nearly worn this can lead to the traction kicking in due to the slight differential in rolling radius (up to about 5% iirc). but I'd give em a chance, the 'stones are great. go on flame me now.....
  16. Sometimes it doesnt start "listening" to you for a brief delay after it has finished speaking. So you might be speaking too quickly. try pausing briefly. Z: "the name please" You: pause "my home" Z: "repeat name" You: pause "my home" it should then say Z: "the number please" but it does seem to be a bit vague. Also I have had long conversations with it saying Me: "Dial name" Z: "the name please" Me: "Mark" Z: "Pardon" Me: Louder "Mark" Z: "Pardon" Me: Louder still "Mark" Z: "Pardon" Me: "Mark! how many times do I have to tell you" Z: "Pardon" Me: "Mark! Mark! F****ing Mark" Z: "Dialing Susan" Me: "AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGHHHHHH!" and so it goes on.......
  17. So it was just me then......... To be fair I wasnt there too long (just dropped by to be sociable but there were no Zeds there apart from me). Overall turnout was good despite the weather.
