  1. Was it this you used? http://www.ecotekplc.com/pb_application.htm As mark says, could be the oxygen sensor, there are two on the Zed (one on each manifold bank). If one fails the ECU will ignore the duff one and will drive pretty normally. If you had done anything more serious the car would probably go into limp mode.
  2. what product did you use? What is it designed to do? There is also an ECU reset procedure that might help if the light has come on because of a glitch, if the problem is genuine it will come on again if there is something wrong. Disconnecting the battery wont help
  3. Off topic. I dont think your oil tank install meets with building regs....... I'll get me coat
  4. Is your life sad? Have lots of time on your hands? Do your friends regard you as a geek even though they wear milkbottle glasses and elbow patches? If you can answer yes to the above and you are into fiddling with video install myth TV and make your own multimedia system and install it under the stairs. Support for 16(+) simultaneous channel recording, it laughs in the face of twin tuners. Web interface so you can programme it to record remotely compatible with digital terrestrial AND satellite supports streaming to remote clients (eg; your laptop, or even a hacked XBOX) TiVo "like" functionality (if you have ever heard anyone say sky+ is great TiVo invented it better first, think about a system that learns your favourtite shows and records them on the off chance you might want to watch similar ones). Why be constrained by the paltry 160Gb HD in the PVR you are going to buy when you can fill it with several Terrabytes of cheap disk space and never delete anything - why bother to burn anything to DVD (unless its to send to someone else) when you can just keep it on disk. But you do have to meet the criteria above! Anyhoo, off my soap box, my dad has a humax and seems pretty happy with its stability, not the exact model you describe though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MythTV
  5. Cheeky young whipper snapper. LOL Ming the Ancient just teasing mate, I'm in denial thats all. Age hits us all, like a truck!
  6. What are you talking about? I know you are called ming but I didnt think you really were from another planet......
  7. Your probable right. Although a gallardo has been round there in 1:37 in the wet: 1) Middlec (Westfield Mega Busa) 1:24.2 2) Rezzie (Ferarri 430) 1:28.0 3) Duncan C (Dax Rush Hayabusa Turbo) 1:30.2 (w) 4) Pvapour (Maserati 4200 Sypder) 1:33.0 5) Steve H (Porsche 997 Cab 2S) 1:33.4 6) Peter M (Merc CLK AMG) 1:35.8 7) PCM (Suburu WRX Sti Type R) 1:36.5 8) Squirejo (Lambo Gallardo) 1:37.0 (w) 9) Rezzie (Ferarri 360) 1:38.2 (f) 10) Sarnie (Nissan 350Z) 1:39.2 11) David T (Porsche Boxter) 1:40.7 (f) 12) Diceman (Noble M400) 1:41.9 (w) 13) Agent Orange (Porsche 993 GT2 CS) 1:42.0 (w) 14) Morgy (Atom 275) 1:45.0 (w) 15) Madras (Honda NSX 3.0) 1:45.6 16) StevenG (Supercharged Nissan 350Z) 1:46.7 (w) 17) Mini_ralf (Mini Cooper S) 1:50.2 (f) 18) Neil (Lancia Integrale Evo 2) 1:50.2 19) JP7152 (BMW E36 M3) 1:50.4 20) Spartacus (TVR Cerbera) 1:52.8 (w) So I'd like to think I could get round there quicker than that if its dry, maybe even around 1:34-35 ??? You should spank that on your second visit, just remember to put some air in your tyres this time
  8. How about a mini meet? I'm always up for a walshy day....... preferably in the wet
  9. I think the Zeds have gone, last time I went they had been replaced with XKR's Didnt feel as fast as the Zed TBH despite claiming higher BHP (but more weight too). Proper big GT but not as much fun.
  10. Thats good advice. The throttle balancing thing is a skill in itself, its like a sixth sense and when it clicks the smug smile on your face is huge and well worth the effort. As an exercise go and sit in your Zed on the drive and try revving to 1500 rpm and hold it there, no flapping up and down just hold it at 1500 rpm. Sounds easy. but go try it. Thats the sort of throttle control you need to drift smoothly. Once you have learnt that delicacy of feel in your normally hammer-like right foot that is just about enough pressure to hold a Zed in a drift in second gear on a wet private roundabout. Its the karate drift kid equivalent of wax on wax off. practice delicate throttle control....
  11. +1 I would rate the day with Andy On the Top Gear day you will explore the limits of your Zed, on the carlimits day you will explore (and cross) your OWN limits and learn that it was your bad technique that upset the car. but either is a hoot!
  12. I could watch these all day! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSphfONzzS4&feature=related Heres Ari again, got to love this one for the moment where the navigator says "Oh......dear god!"
  13. +1 FYI "maybe" is a pace note abbreviation for "slippy maybe" (say it with a scandanavian accent and you might get it) it's certainly quicker than saying "it's a little bit slippery". So you will often hear "slippy" if its really slippery. Its not the navigator being indecisive! Anyway, seeing as everyone is posting rally vids this week I'll add this one for a demonstration of guts and racer spirit...... hopefully not a repost and apologies for opening old wounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ci_p6ulyTRg&feature=related
  14. Hence my offer above! and the nice car obviously
  15. How old is your mum? (toyboy in waiting!)

    Top Speeds

bother, wrote a long and informative reply to this and have lost it! cant be fagged to type it again...... that will be the drink talking.....
  17. Whilst on the subject of snow, anyone tried Autosock's or Weisssocks on their Zed?
  18. is his racelogic datalogger the "performance box" or the "driftbox"? If its the driftbox he should be top of the scoreboard with that!
  19. to be honest its not as good as you want it to be. sure the all in price for unlimited (well 20 hours a month unless you upgrade) internet access is not bad. Doesnt do multimedia (no sound) and video doesnt really work. Basically its like a citrix client (if you know what that is) over GPRS onto a server running a web browser, it does load pages pretty quickly so navigating around links is not bad. The keyboard is a little slow to use (much too small to touchtype and the typing interface is clunky) so just trying to send an email is a pain in the @r$e. I find I can text an email faster from my mobile phone than I can from this device. Having a reasonable size screen is useful and its handy when you just want to check something quickly (its a pub quiz-toilet cheat-marvel) but not really a serious competitor to a laptop (not that it pretends to be but I hoped it might save me carrying a laptop to some meetings and make do with googlemail/googledocs and then update them when back at the office)or even a wireless PDA. Gadget factor - 8/10 Early adopter factor - 9/10 Practicality - 4/10 price - 8/10 Frustration to use 10/10!
  20. Was just shopping for something when I saw this http://www.autotrader.co.uk/EDITORIAL/car_page_content/37243.html
  21. Could use an escrow service like http://www.escrow.com , there are many others too (Google is your friend). I have never used one myself so this is no sort of recommendation, just an option you might like to look into
  22. Didnt spot that, was working my way down a list; o Not an MSA circuit (can tell by the lack of edge lines and "furiniture") plus I would probably have spotted it. o Not an Airfield (not with that dirty great hill in the way) o Thought it might be a UK sprint or hill climb circuit like curborough, dunkeswell, aintree, lyddon hill, prescott etc but wasnt ringing any bells plus you said it was a circuit. Had me beat anyway.....
  23. +1 thats pretty much the norm from what I understand, plus may reveal sick days etc. If you choose to give an additional "character reference" to support your application from someone you know personally thats fine but your previous employer will be very careful to commit anything more in writing than the bare facts. However "dismissed for misconduct" could be stated as a bare fact. As nixy said, disclosure is probably the best option. If you witheld anything in interview that came to light later you could be dismissed from the new job!
