  1. I did enjoy it, its why I now have to cup my ears when people speak to me in class
  2. Last year I had an incident, long story short, lorry cut the corner I was entering into. I stopped and he proceeded to drag down the side of the car, cracking the wing mirror mount, damaging the paint on the wing mirror and the straps left scratches down the side of my door. photo I took clearly shows him on my side of the road, and they also show the damage. lorry driver wants to settle outside of insurance; I gave him the quote for repair and he refused to pay; went through insurance at which point he says he was never there, then he stopped answer calls fast forward a year later: story from third party is that he was there, but the vehicles never touched, but they'll settle for 50:50 liability I've lost 1 year no claim, half my excess and what ever the premium increases will be while this is on my record. whats bugged me most is how I ended up screwed when I did everything right, and the pee-ni in the lorry has got away with it. both places I spoke to said it would be my word against his in court and the judge would settle 50:50 anyway. I shall be investing the money I get back for half my excess in a dash cam most likely a blackvue 650 just irritates the crap out of me
  3. ah the good old days of perforated ear drums and blood on your shoulders
  4. My concern on staying in if we vote Bremain; is that its basically going to green light our acceptance of a full federal Europe and we will just disappear into it. we've never had a serious voice in the EU and we certainly won't if we stay. if I'm honest I don't think our negotiation abilities improve if we stay or go. things may be tough to start with if we leave, but long term in the EU if we stay could it be worse? I struggle to believe Cameron when even he doesn't believe in the EU even he said in the past if we can't get the best deal for reform we're better off out and now he's flogging us a product even he doesn't fully believe in IDS gave an interesting interview on radio 4 on Monday I think.
  5. haven't had chance to re read all 19 pages but I found the 2 part documentary on the history of the EU interesting, we've basically been on the outer fringes since day one and never had much control at the negotiation table. my concern is long term is the EU a safe bet? The germans are not happy about the TTIP trade agreement with the US it looks like it could be negative long term on EU trade and put the power into big multi nationals and away from governments. Climate wise parts of south western Europe could be facing harsh times with serious droughts and floods etc could we end up supporting them fginancial if tied into Europe. With the current migrant crisis and counties already putting in place new border agreements could it be the problem that splits the EU Greece, spain and italy are all huge financial risks with shakey economies and large financial props if greece defaults it runs the risk of dragging europe with it. if we stay will it give the rest of Europe the go ahead to instigate a full federal system; i don't believe that if we stay that we won't just be integrated and become a state in a large country and the euro would soon follow. with other countries looking at joining all with weak economies, it will be the job of richer countries to financially stabilse them, costs for membership will increase and so will the size and numbers of free movement. All hypothetical I know If we left would others follow suit? if you look at all other "empires", "super States" they don't last forever, British empire, soviet union, roman empire, mongol empire, greek empire, all collapsed eventually. I don't think there is an example of a lasting cohesive group. people always want to go back to having their own identity and leadership. i think we're screwed either way If we stay the Eurocrats will screw it up if we leave the politicians here will bodge it up as well. I suppose the decisions is who do you think is going to screw you over the least.
  6. first and last time I listen to my wife; the Touareg was my first choice but my other half convinced me the Volvo was better. my wife is now completely locked out on any future car decisions.
  7. So what've you got now RTB ? VW Touareg V6 TDI as having a family car goes I like it a lot. when the twins are bigger and can get in and do their own seatbelts up i'll swap to a hot estate or saloon
  8. Worst car owned ... Volvo XC90 bought what was thought to be a good car till it rained heavily and it turned out to be a monumental headache waterleaks turned the footwells into swamps where also all the expensive electrics are kept; at which point we had complete electrical failure everything dead but the engine while driving in the dark. then the gear box would randomly cut out. monumental heap of shiizer had another as a courtesy car and it reminded me of its oil tanker turning circle; agricultural sound and rattly interior; put me of Volvo for life.
  9. I have the Avic F60 DAB in my Touareg, was pretty straight forward to fit, and has been a great piece of kit, its enabled for apple carplay as well, not that i've tried it. streams music from pendrives, micro SD, bluetooth etc. and the satnav is pretty spot on as well.
  10. Jaguar XKR was my favourite by a long shot, loved that car closely followed by my S2000
  11. have found over the last few years tyre leader is always the cheapest, but i check across tyre leader, openeo, camskills and peneu (not sure of spelling french for tyre) online. haven't used camskills for a long time the last 4 sets of tyres have come from else where.
  12. looking good, glad you're still going and hadn't given up. look forward to seeing the finished job
  13. Which ever cable is the earth cable or handbrake cable just fix the end of it onto anything metal, best point of contract is under a bolt head, even better is to remove/scratch the paint off underneath for a good bare metal conection.
  14. I have this currently with the lorry that hit me; still on going. my insurers are now taking him to court but i've still had to pay out of my own pocket. infuriates me as insurance is there for a reason and it pee's me off when it doesnt work how it should. i was stopped and they drove into the side of me. there claims went from "they were never there" to "we never made contact" even though my pictures show the truck on my side of the road. I have come to the conclusion most lorry drivers are twunts!
  15. Looks good mate glad to hear its running again; if i can help let me know. With regards to painting you could always plastidip or wrap to cover up the old paint. cost would be around £1000 With regards to the welding i have a MiG welder and angle grinder. and i can weld. if you can source the arches i can probalby do the work.
  16. Great cars, massive money pit if you plan to own long term. At that price I would be buying and running till something expensive happens and then scrap it. Neil covered all the major issues. Nikasil linings shouldn't be an issue now. If it was going to go pop it would have. Gear box and tensioners are your biggest running gear issues. Factor in £900 to do the tensioners minimum and £400 to do the gearbox from memory. Rust will be your biggest enemy and its not the rust you can see that's the biggest worry. Have a chat with tony over at paragon design uk. He knows the worst tust spots as he rebuilds them but at the age and mileage they are starting to rust through in places like the footwells, subframe etc. All can be repaired but it depends on how deep your pockets are and how much you want to spend.
  17. i have tried watching the new series of 5th gear, its alright but its not as entertaining as top gear. i enjoy watching the program and would be sad to see it go. i also enjoy watching clarkson. i'd be disappointed to lose one of the few programs i actually look forward to in the year.
  18. Ipswich accident and repair. Very very good. Have one best body shop on a couple of occasions and come certified and accredited by all the correct places.
  19. sorry Arran, but have to disagree, the zed engine has been one of the most dissappoint sounding engines I've owned. Its not a bad sound, but its a long way from being the best. If I'm honest even with exhausts etc I'd put it as an average sound. Not dull, but doesn't set my heart a light. each to their own but it's the sound of the zed that made me want one. If I didn't hear one scream past me that one day I would be driving a dc5. Which sound cak Have a listen to this.... Link: Now try to say the 350 doesn't sound good (granted it has a good exhaust on it). sounds alright, but it doesn't excite me. Pitch is too high for my liking. I moved to a v8 because I realised what I was missing was the sound of a v8 and the zed in comparison just doesn't do it.
  20. Hi guys, sorry for the slow reply, have seen the addresses and orders. Have been dealing with alloy of issues of late. I'm off work as of Saturday. And will get them all cut and out for next week. Apologies for not being on and picking up messages. Hardly been on the internet in general.
  21. get alot more for your money in comparison to places like woodbridge and wickham market. we've had to move further out to get the space we need for the family. but the area is on the up. waitrose has moved in to the area so it can;t be bad.
  22. and with regards to solicitors we had a very easy process with the last conveyancer and we're going with the recommended one this time from the new build place due to discount offered and the fact they have done most of the properties there and are known to be quick.
