  1. common method, used by many on here. seen it done at shows to get over low curbs
  2. whats the card slot, is your car pay-as-you-go? as for the TC button it should be in that area, my guess is where the hole is. but you say there is nothing behind there? have you taken the dash off to look?
  3. i use them so that i can work on the car in the garage.
  4. the ramps don't stick out far enough behind the wheel to interfere with jacking. I've used them on the zed the S2000 and the jag
  5. age old adage... you can't polish a turd
  6. Cheers Rich, but I don't think the highest level will give me sufficient room in which to undertake tasks under the engine bay. Thanks for the offer though.... no the idea is you drive on to them to give you the height needed to get a jack under the car.
  7. The typhoon setup added about 4bhp as shown on dyno somewhere. as for the RC2 setup it is in an enclosure of sorts so will help against heat-soak, but to be honest will probably perform as well as a JWT. my question would be what is the filter element made out of. it may well have brilliant airflow, but has it sacrificed filtration in order to achieve it. i personlly only use 2 different types of filters on any of my cars. either Apexi or BMC. i had the typhoon on my old Zed but modified it to take the Apexi cone.
  8. i have a set of these at home http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARAVAN-MOTOR ... 231509be63
  9. that was the 3M stuff, you might find the hexis stuff wraps them better.
  10. i did it a while back but i don't do them anymore. i had a pro do them for me. but i don't know if it was the stuff he used or what but apparently it lifted after a while on a customers car. so i no longer do it.
  11. the only area where your weight reduction will make a difference to an everyday car is the wheels. get a set on enkei RPF01's as they weigh bog all. and aren't horrendously expensive. other named branded light weight wheels are available of course but alot of wheels which are forged etc are very expensive. i just happen to know that the rpf01s are lighter than the rays. at 18" size. add a set of light weight wheel nuts. and some light brake discs (cost a fortune) and your on your way to a lighter performing car. but unless you are removing the doors and the boot lid. the rest of the changes will make as much difference as remembering to go for a poo before you drive it. its there for when you get a puncture so you can get home. and yes it does fit. but you can use a can of tyre weld although personally i'm not a fan of the stuff. but your doing it to a road car not a track car, these small weight savings won;t be noticable unless you're pushing the car on the very edge of its ability. like on a track. there is no way the car will be anywhere near that on the road. i'm not slurring ability or experience here, but proper track day tuition will greatly improve any driver regardless of what they have grown up with or their experience. which can then be transferred to the road. yellow stuff is good but if you want mega stopping power you need to look at PF or DBA
  12. cheers much appreciated. fireman with moustaches, its going to be like a scene from a gay movie i'm a teacher so A. my students have only ever seen me with a beard and never clean shaven so thats going to freak them out. and B. when i do grow the moustache they are going to have 30 days of mockery for me as well
  13. without being rude, the amount you'll spend making the zed lighter, would be better invested in a faster car? also the more you take out the less of an every day car it becomes. just out of interest what do you do if you need to take the wheel off in an emergency by the side of the road? AA membership i suppose. if you want a super light car buy an elise. or a VX220 if you want the zed to performer better, get some driving tuition from a race specialist. most people can;t get the best out of the zed because they don't actually know how to drive it to its full potential. most poeple think you need more power to do better. but actually learning how to get the most out of the car makes a bigger difference.
  14. Well lady folks and man people its that time of year again November, some may only know it as that cold month just before December, but others will know it as Movember; the month of the moustache!!!! Growing a moustache you say, most of you must now be thinking i'm some kind of community misfit or pedo but worry not. this is not a facial statement of intent, but actually a great way to show support for and raise money for mens prostate and testicular cancer. This year i am participating with a group of friends and the aim is to raise awareness and money for cancer awareness. i will post updates of my moustache in here for people to follow. and it would be great if people could donate in support for this cause. with out being rude to the ladies we are a male orientated site so it is an issue that affects us all. so it would be good to see some support. here is a link to my mospace: http://mobro.co/richardthompson where you can follow and donate
  15. it wouldn't pass and win by as much as you think. modern hot hatches are very quick even in stock terms. add a bit of wet weather and a twisty B road and you might find they'll leave the zed behind, as for the type R yes in a straight line drag the zed has more torque. but stick the 2 on a track (especially one with lots of bends a not many straights) and that type R will be right up your jaxy all the way round. but agreed i would rather turn up to an event or occassion in the zed or something like minded. than in a bright coloured hot wheels toy car.
  16. supercharger kits for the MX5 aren't stupid prices either
  17. mk3 mr2 roadster £2k turbo conversion £2k car weight of about 1 ton maybe less power with out turbo 140 bhp with turbo 220bhp power to weight with out turbo = 140 bhp per ton power to weight with turbo = 220 bhp per ton take the zed as an example, thats 1.6 tons of car with 276 = 172 bhp per ton lighter car = brakes and tyres lasting longer, and less stress on the car. smaller wheels and calipers so tyres and pads are cheaper. you can drop the engine out of them easy peasy. needs very little stripping out as its already got feck all in it. and parts cost bog all. and its a toyota so its fairly solid. oh and it revs to 8.5k which pi$$es on the mx5
  18. to be honest unless your pushing the car to its upper limits i'll doubt you'll notice much difference. your top 3 choices from what people use on here vredestein ultrac sessanta Falken 452 toyo proxies t1r and i'd rank them in that order. but to be honest i think the toyo's are rubbish; that and they are slowing production of them as well. sessantas are hard to find at times they go out of stock quick falkens good alrounder
  19. they'll only go in if the countries got oil. not worth it otherwise
  20. drop me a line buster and i can supply you with the best vinyl for the job to about the right size. viewtopic.php?f=38&t=49257&hilit=rtcustomz+price+list
