Your just like my mate, when he owns something its always the best. When he's got rid it not! Whay happens when you own a V12 Rich are the car inept best sticking to just V8's? WTF japanese and most new cars these days have a reputation for being reliable so if your no good at fixing stuff its a safe choice. and no i'm not like your mate, it just happens to have been that the zed was the biggest let down of a car i've ever owned, promised so much but delivered so little. loved my S2K still do, loved my MR2 still do, loved my old GTi6 was an epic car. love my jag its great (gots its problems, but still love it). but the zed by the time i sold it i could have set it on fire and not have been bothered. all my other cars i was sad to see go but the 350 i have no love for it.

he's a cool bloke

A decent corner and there will be tyre damage, I'll put my money on it. I am a bit confused to how you think going around a corner will lead to tyre damage there wouldn't

do love your descriptions but you are right that with any big car like V8's etc especially if they are over 10 years old there is a small element of a lottery to buying them. i've never had a big worry as i have enough technical knowledge of cars that i can fix them myself. and i enjoy doing the work. but for the car inept its probably best to stick to things that are either new or japanese or both.

new search then?

bushes etc are a doddle. as long as its maintained well there is no issue. the jag gear box is a merc box, and as long as the fluid is changed at about 80k they are good to go. i did mine at 100k and it was and seems fine. the V8's hardly tick over, at 70 mph its about on 2.5 rpm so if the car has done lots of motorway miles the engine has only really ever been sat just above tick over unlike 4 pots v8's don't have to work that hard and when they do its usually a very short burst to overtake etc. and its unlikely to have had the nuts ragged off it like the zed as its not a kids car. and the original price tag would have menat its been bought by someone who would have spent all their service cash etc at merc. so it should be well cared for.

too big for the car looks like a roller skate. preferred the 19"s you had on previously but if your happy i'm happy

Sorry, on the phone, nightmare to type on with my big hands.

100k on V8 is nothing. Car should easily do 250k +. My JAG's just rolled over the 100k mark. But I do play the good old game of hunt the electrical gremlin. But repairs have been cheap. 2nd hand parts are plentiful. Only thing I would suggest is a gear box fluid change. Unless its in the service book as done recently. Those boxes need the fluid changing about every 80k.. not a Willy expensive job, just find a good auto gearbox specialist who knows the MB's.

You know, its comments like this that make this place look a bit strange to the casual observer. The tyre hasnt failed because its been fitted to a different sized rim, its ridiculous to suggest it was. And no doubt going to get flamed for this, but even a 245 on one side and a 225 on the other cant cause an accident - it can unbalance the car but its still the driver that puts it into a wall. Mechanical failure of a component or oil on the track can be blamed, but even then no-one is going to pay you out because you stoved it up, differing grip levels from side to side isnt going anywhere in a court. i have to agree with Doc on this

The highway code states Law RTA 1988 sect 4 part 97 (can be seen below) http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTr ... /DG_069855 i think it would be difficult to part blame out on a third party when its the vehicle owners responsibility to check the road worthyness of their own vehicle. you would be more than within your rights if it had been spotted to go back and get them to swap them round etc. but to put the accident down to them for an accident that happened on private property and not covered by the normal road rules etc is nigh on impossible. if he was going that fast through a residential area i'd be more concerned about his driving. yes the wheels were not on right, but the tyres would have been well within tolerances for normal driving they were new, same brand all round and plenty of tread depth. this is starting to feel a bit like "where theres blame theres a claim" there have been mistakes made by the driver and the fitter. but being able to legally pin responsibility on a third party will be nigh on impossible. sorry to the OP that they are going through this, i hope they get an easy and low cost solution to the scenario. if you wish to pursue legal action i would go to the CAB (citizens advice) first

exige or VXR220 whats not too like, great cars sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun. just strip your zed first before PX'ing it in. other wise you're just pouring money down the drain.

without knowing who manufacuters it i couldn't tell you

nice wheels as for tyres i ended up using openeo for my falkens for my 20" as they came in cheaper than camskills. at the time i paid £600 for 2 285/30/20 and 2 255/35/20

as long as you can get the details of the person involved, then just put it through the insurance company. i.e. this person hit my car, here is the video evidence. and then your insurer should be able to do the rest from there.

i think you hit the limiter its not a vtec engine as for uploading pics, use something like photobucket to upload them to then copy and paste the IMG link under it once its on the system.

i'm over in ipswich, where are you?

Opinions please. I can actually afford this one...

higher mileage is often a safer bet, if it was going to show any major issues it should have done so already. downside is you might need to replace the odd consumable or susspension part if they are a little worn out. best bet is to go check it out. see if its sound if so then its not a bad bet. -
sad face if it makes you feel better the jag failed 3 times in a row, each for different things over 3 weeks recently the joys of owning old cars. and the fun of fixing them. hope you get it all sorted soon i want a pax ride (admittedly my extra weight wont help performance but it'll be like the good old days!)

i watched it open mouthed horrific behaviour, and the anti semetic stuff was nasty.

Waterless car wash shampoo...not all that bad.

chat to buster, he swears by the waterless system, and uses it on his zed. he was showing it off at the last grasshopper meet. -

^^ agree with above but the SC is alot more linear, i think your right with the TT having that surge would make abigger difference. weight wise i'm only 100kg heavier than the zed. but the shear size does take the edge off the speed. agreed as stock i'm better set up for it as it has giant 6 pot brembos 355mm discs 20inch bbs wheels with 285 rubber on them. with that in mind what neil said is bang on any car being boosted needs other aspects bringing up to standard to match it. so better suspension and brakes is a must. -
they also have a plastic polish as well plastx i think its called. if using this method, for best results i reckon a DA would do the best job, althogh doing it by hand can achieve the same finish if not with more elbow grease. other option is wet and dry and finish with something like aG3 polishing compound.

having made a jump from 276 to nearly 400 bhp i've not found it that different. nothing to do with my driving, just that i think sometimes there is this idea that the more bhp you have the deadlier the car becomes. yes there is noticably more power, but it hasn't become more of a handful if that makes sense. you adjust fairly quickly to the new power etc. i'm sure neil and anders and keyser and some of the other SC or TT boys know what i mean. i think with alexs TT setup his tyres make a big difference with the 888's the suspension and the brakes are all at the standard required to match the power.
