  1. Good old fashioned hot hatch torsion handling at the rear and a nice comfortable toy laden and surprisingly practical cabin. Didn't they do a run out champ white one with a LSD? I never fell in love with this one after owning an EP3 and Tegs and the motoring press made a meal out of the torsion beam but they were still excellent cars to be fair.
  2. Another member on here had a red roof put on some time ago, I commented then I thought it looked really good Welcome.
  3. I had a similar issue earlier this year but I doubt it's related to yours. I had an HKS air filter fitted and whilst restoring the headlights accidentally sprayed sealant into the air intake box. Now the car wasn't switched on at the time but when I went to drive the car the next day it started fine and then went into limp mode. I had a code that related to the throttle body actuator, I think it was 1122 or similar. The HKS filter had drawn in the sealant covered the maf and intake tube. I called the AA and after three hours they turned up. By the time they arrived and we started the car it ran perfectly fine and has done for 5 months since. I've also had it checked out at Horsham and all is fine. I have since dumped the HKS in favour of a JW filter. So in my case it was contamination passing the air filter. I was prepared for the worst and getting a new TB but luckily it was OK. Your issue sounds different regarding the flickering dash lights etc, that one has stumped me as that's an electrical power interuption and if that happened to me I would also be checking related components. The only time I've had that sort of issue was when the battery terminals became loose as the previous owner hadn't clamped the battery in the tray correctly and it was moving about.
  4. If you had touring alloys before you should notice the lack of weight on each corner now. I certainly did when I put the Rays on. Car felt more nimble.
  5. All sorted now thanks, product is by Gliptone.
  6. Haha don't laugh, company hack is a Golf diesel!! However this means I can get an impractical weekender so I'm going for a Toyota engined Elise. I've always wanted one and toyed with getting an earlier K series car as it suits it well. However after driving a few Rs they won me over as they offer a similar drive to some of the vtec Honda cars I've owned and enjoyed over the years. I've yet to try a supercharged but an S2 exige may also be a contender. The Z will always hold a place for me as a great all rounder though and on the right day is a great car to drive.
  7. I'm also looking forward to seeing this beauty finished
  8. I'm trying to purchase some liquid leather for my Alezan seats but they want me to send a sample so they can match the colour. Surely there must be a code or similar for the standard Alezan orange seats?
  9. Another car I will never have the pleasure of owning Very nice looking thing though, it takes cues from many fast coupes that have come before and blends them well. Traditional pinched waist and wide rear haunches are always a winner for me (I have the same taste in women, maybe there's a connection
  10. A strange one this, I've had a Z for just over three years now. For me to own a car for more than a year is rare so there must be something about them that appeals. I think the appeal for me is the fact it's the first car I've modified beyond just cosmetic stuff. The look of the car always appealed to me as did the noise it makes but the drive when standard wasn't up to my expectations at all. Don't get me wrong it felt better than the awful M3 that came before which is supposed to be a good car but coming from lighter more agile machines before that the Z didn't compare. Modifying has to me personally improved the car power wise and suspension wise to a point where the bulk is less apparent on quick direction changes, this has made it more confidence inspiring in the twisties So after three years of ownership and finally getting it sorted will I be keeping it .... errrm no. Yes I will miss the forecourt presence and that glance back at the pumps (a place most Z owners are very familiar with) , I will also miss the noise. However as a driving purist the Z still falls short on outright driving fun and with the imminent arrival of a new company hack my dream of owning a proper sports car for weekends looms. Would I own another, well if it was my only car for everyday use then yes, I've always liked the look of a 370 nismo
  11. Welcome, my old M3 had 110k and always went wrong My Z has yet to let me down on 99k miles, welcome to Jap ownership
  12. Over the years I've collected a number of qualifications/ licences both acedemic and not so. I may never use them but the way I see it it gives me options to continue earning money if I'm ever made redundant. Certain sectors are screaming out for people especially trades and truck drivers etc. The security industry although not the best paying is always looking for staff who have an SIA licence and it serves if nothing else as a stop gap between career moves. This September I'm leaving a company I've been with 15 years to go elsewhere and some of the industry quals I picked up years ago have finally proved useful. The moral I suppose and mirroring other comments on here is keep learning and diversifying your skill set. Make good use of your time and of course any training or quals will be dependent on financial outlay if they are to be a viable option.
  13. I had these codes for months before changing my rear bank 2 sensor. I popped to my local indy and they plugged in a diagnostic reader and confirmed it. Since fitting HFCs and having the Uprev I just had them taken offline. Unlikely but a failed cat can also bugger about with post sensors. You could also try giving the sensor connections underneath a clean but more than likely it's buggered.
  14. Hello mate, hope your well. Agreed on Longbridge Mill, also a shorter hop for Reading members. I'm probably moving the car on in October as I start a new job with a car that month and will be buying my Elise hence the reason for a short notice meet. I need to PM local members as no one has caught this thread bar you
  15. I was invited to go off roading in one of these near Bordon Army tank training facility in Hants. My old boss had one circa 2005 so probably not as capable as a new one. All went well and it was great fun until we bogged down in a water trough and got stuck Luckily a couple of Landrovers were there to pull us out.
  16. Another fixture of childhood memory gone
  17. I quite like the yellow fogs, a little retro cool isn't a bad thing.
  18. The GT4 in yellow looks great. If I had one it would be a stubby, facelift lights and some black external touches
  19. At this rate we will need G suits to drive to work in
  20. I'm looking to get another Basingstoke meet organised for late August or early September. I know a few of you are local to me so let's get our heads together and get something sorted Ideally this time a day meet at a weekend, last time around it was an evening pub meet but we were close to getting overwhelmed on the car parking spaces as I grossly underestimated the fantastic turnout by the excellent members on here. It doesn't necessarily have to be in the town but wherever we decide permission will need to be sought at the venue.
  21. Haha yes mines gunmetal mate, lowered, miltek and silver zunsport grille. I did organise a meet a couple of years back up at the Portsmouth Arms, excellent turnout too.
  22. Another Basingstoke member I've never seen on the road GLWTS
