  1. Do you have them set up for fast road use, if so have you lowered a bit also? I'm on standard rays and will be removing the spacers I have on currently.

  3. Second time I've seen this one at the weekend on the A339 heading from Newbury to Basingstoke after 7pm. Silver personal reg plate starting with N. Looks lowered with nice dark grey/black wheels.
  4. As stated when the cost comes down and EVs are mainstream, as a family wagon I think the X is an ideal pioneer for the cause. People like GZ are the pioneers of the new tech, out of my budget by 70k but the concept is great.

  6. Righto I'm having these fitted at HDEV next month and I'm after just the right set up for fast road use. I don't track the car at all but I quite fancy lowering it a bit and getting the damper settings right. I'm sure HDEV will advise on the day but I just wanted some advice from the members on here with the same units please. At the moment I'm running 20mm spacers all round but I'm thinking about ditching these once the coils are fitted especially if I'm lowering a little. Any advice would be appreciated
  7. I must also apologise for answering one of your posts using the word "bull". It certainly wasn't a personal dig. AWE for any given month is the ratio of estimated total pay for the whole economy, divided by the total number of employees. As a result, AWE is not a measure of rates of pay and can be affected by changes in the composition of an enterprise’s workforce. My response wasn't just a personal one but one bourne out of the experience of both myself and my peers. Certain sectors fair better than others, public sector workers seem to have suffered more than most. Stats are fine in essence but don't necessarily reflect a true picture if based on an average. A fat cat boss earning a ridiculous wage is thrown into the pot with everyone at the base level of the earning ladder . A fat pay rise for a CEO curried as an average with someone on 17k a year doesn't really ring true. Yes it gives a gross national average regarding economic decision making but doesn't reflect an accurate enough picture for the average earner.

  9. My mates? My statement was based on everyone I know bar a lucky few. So your wages have remained static too. Interesting that. I do still however love the Celica your running. I earn fairly good money, my other half is an accountant and earns good money. We have two offspring a mortgage and no debt. We scrape by with minimal ability to save. I'm sure we could increase our standard of living by borrowing against the house etc. We live in Hampshire and I originally come from Surrey. Maybe if we relocated elsewhere our lot would be better. It could well be our cost of living is regional and not a national trend who knows. Statistics and figures are one thing, easily manipulated. The average voter wont base their decision on all these lovely positive vibes being trawled out. They base their vote on their own personal circumstances. This is why we are in the situation we are in. The brexit politicians tapped into this and exploited it to the full, they saw an opportunity and took it. Stating such things as immigration, really! Immigration has assisted us in paying for the baby boomers retirement, without it things would have been worse. We have been continually lied to over successive governments and there is no trust in the establishment at all. Same old same old, naive is believing everything and ignoring the reality of what's going on around you.So with all these positive stats and waffle why on earth are we debating leaving the union. Rising incomes and low inflation, record employment, hey I hear you but millions have not based on their own personal circumstances.

  11. Truth. I remember taking a ride with an ex-Carrera Cup GB champion, and his control (not speed) was absolutely out of this world. He had a 911 doing things I would never have imagined. This^^ I had a VIP track day at Thruxton years ago and was assessed by an ex racing driver. At the end of my instruction he said "Lovely smooth drive, great car control but not very fast, are you a police driver?" He then took me round and proceeded to scare the living he'll out of me Totally different league.

  13. Bull, things might be rosy for you mate but I've not had a pay rise in 3 years. I don't care much for stats, I'm not the only one in this boat either. The level of inflation is relative to the cost of living for us normal people. Things are expensive, not just property. I certainly haven't seen any increase in the standard of living for the people in my life in fact it's the reverse and predates the referendum by nearly a decade.

Believe it or not, in this respect the majority of the Athens buses are 'dodgems', they are free wheeling (as opposed to tracks) and are a normal bus in every way, except for a huge dodgems metal connection thingy on the top and electric power only, these things are 20 years old most of em. The electric connection fails often and the drivers have a tool they use to re-seat the cable. It works quite well tbh, they aren't down for long. It's not a net like the totally free roam style of dodgems, but the cables criss cross all of athens. Trolley buses. We had them in some cities over here years ago.

  21. Huge hopes have been tied to electric cars as the solution to automotive CO2 climate problem. But it turns out the the electric car batteries are eco-villains in the production process of creating them. Several tons of carbon dioxide has been emitted, even before the batteries leave the factory. IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute was commissioned by the Swedish Transport Administration and the Swedish Energy Agency to investigate litium-ion batteries climate impact from a life cycle perspective. There are batteries designed for electric vehicles included in the study. The two authors Lisbeth Dahllöf and Mia Romare has done a meta-study that is reviewed and compiled existing studies. The report shows that the battery manufacturing leads to high emissions. For every kilowatt hour of storage capacity in the battery generated emissions of 150 to 200 kilos of carbon dioxide already in the factory. The researchers did not study individual brand batteries, how these were produced, or the electricity mix they use. But if we understand the great importance of the battery here is an example: Two common electric cars on the market, the Nissan Leaf and the Tesla Model S, the batteries about 30 kWh and 100 kWh. Even before buying the car emissions occurred, corresponding to approximately 5.3 tons and 17.5 tons of Carbon Dioxide. The numbers can be difficult to relate to. As a comparison, a trip for one person round trip from Stockholm to New York by air causes the release of more than 600 kilograms of carbon dioxide, according to the UN organization ICAO calculation. Another conclusion of the study is that about half the emissions arising from the production of raw materials and half the production of the battery factory. The mining accounts for only a small proportion of between 10-20 percent. The calculation is based on the assumption that the electricity mix used in the battery factory consists of more than half of the fossil fuels. In Sweden, the power production is mainly of fossil-nuclear and hydropower why lower emissions had been achieved. The study also concluded that emissions grow almost linearly with the size of the battery, even if it is pinched by the data in that field. It means that a battery of the Tesla-size contributes more than three times as much emissions as the Nissan Leaf size. It is a result that surprised Mia Romare.
  22. I read an interesting article today about battery production. It would seem the average Tesla battery from mining raw material to the completed item is responsible for the same amount of CO2 emissions as driving a modern petrol car for 8 years! I need to find a link to the article.
