  1. Having looked closely at the model S vehicles they have been testing at Thatcham crash lab I concur they stack up pretty well. However every road traffic collision is unique. Take Volvo for example, I have attended RTAs where all occupants of a Volvo estate walked away without a scratch after leaving the road and ploughing through trees. The flip side was a fatality where a motorcycle entered the windscreen of the Volvo. To speculate on the outcome of an RTA based on size or safety kit is foolish at best. My comment on size was meant as humour not an indicator of possible outcomes dependent on vehicle size
  2. You might have been taken out by a truck and not a little Seat. What if what if. You should know by now it's not the size it's what you do with it My missus has a Note and it's absolutely fine for family duty.
  3. ^^ I rarely looked back at the M on a garage forecourt. With the Z I always do
  4. I did the same, moved from an E46 M3 to a Z. The only thing I miss is the adjustable seat bolsters I never gelled with it either when it was out of the garage being fixed. Overrated cars with chocolate brakes and peaky engines.
  5. The young woman here is mentally ill by the looks of it. Certainly a nasty piece of work. Assisted suicide in the case of terminally ill patients I agree with. Assisting in the death and offering encouragement to someone to kill themselves is scheming and manipulative especially when they are physically OK. In my opinion she received less than she deserved!
  6. I certainly won't be going back to BMW! Looking at Lotus Elise's and Porkers at the moment. Can't afford a GTR but wouldn't mind one
  7. Haha its taken me nearly three years to mod my car by stealth My missus is an accountant and we have spreadsheets for everything! I only got a two seater because my eldest son no longer employs us for taxi runs. Welcome to one of the best car forums out there and enjoy the car.
  8. Well I've run it again today and all fine so far. I don't usually run the car below half a tank fuel wise. Plenum bolts needed a tighten and I've replaced the HKS filter for a new OEM paper job. Some moisture had bypassed the HKS filter but it's unlikely that caused the issue. More than likely a fuelling/spark issue so I will replace the coil packs just in case. She's in for coilovers next month at Hdev so they will investigate further.
  9. I don't have any records in the history for the car so I'm assuming they are plus 90k miles coil packs anyway. Sod it I might as well change them just to eliminate the possibility. Thanks for the input.
  10. I've had grinding through the clutch pedal on previous cars as the clutch had worn down to the studs on the plate. This is usually followed by it jumping put of gear periodically. So in my experience alone it's always been the last warning sign after the early symptom of slipping.
  11. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar thing happen. Car started fine today and I went to reverse up my drive which is on a slight gradient. For the first time in three years I stalled it! It was quite a jarring stall in reverse. So handbrake reapplied and I went to start it again and it fired up but was lumpy, like it was firing on 5 not 6. I gave the throttle a little blip and all was well. After about two miles of driving the car started doing it again juddering and kangarooing down the road. Not wanting to bugger it completely I pulled over and called the AA. I was thinking maybe a coil pack had gone but no EML at all. About two hours later Mr AA turned up and predictably the car ran fine, lovely smooth tick over as normal all cylinders firing etc. I then took it for a five mile run with the AA in tow just in case. Nothing happened and I drove home with no issues, in fact it felt better than before! The only thing I can think of is maybe moisture in a coil pack or dodgy fuel. The only other point of note is when I checked the air box the filter (HKS) didn't look snug and there was evidence of debris engine side of it. Having heard a few negative comments on HKS I've put a nice clean standard filter back in just in case something had bypassed it and caused the issue. As for water in a coil pack I did wash it yesterday but didn't deviate from my normal routine and water goes nowhere near the block. Faith in the car is dented a little so if anyone has experienced a similar thing I would appreciate some input please.
  12. Didn't it used to be the case that insuring a black car was slightly more expensive and yellow was cheaper or was that an urban myth Common sense dictates the brighter the colour the easier your seen. Either way I assume the Tesla has DRL? He saw you I expect but underestimated either your approach speed or passing speed and averted the gaze in the opposite direction before manoeuvring.
  13. At the end of the day dash cam or not it was the vehicle in the junctions responsibility to wait and assess your movement. Even if the other driver claims he saw an indicator they are still at fault in making the assumption you were turning. The position of the impact looks to me like the driver did see you initially (hard to miss a white car) but then directed their gaze in the opposite direction and assuming you had already passed by pulled out. Could be wrong but it bears the hallmark of driver assumption.
  14. I had a huge faff when I T boned a Hampshire Police Traffic car in my Civic type R. It was his fault and eventually they paid out but the officer lied through his teeth during the claim. Good advice this about getting a dash cam.
  15. Yeah 20 all round for spacers makes the car sit just right It will also lend itself well for the coilovers you will eventually fit On the subject of seats IMO the alezan works well on silver, grey and black cars. It gives it a more premium look. The black ones look good on the blue and orange cars whilst the frost looks great on dark blue HRs. I went for them because my car was gunmetal but I'm not a huge fan of the orange gear surround, handbrake or steering wheel in alezan as it's overkill IMO. Other mods I would recommend on an early DE are led tail lights and facelift bi xenons to freshen it up and improve visibility.
  16. Biting point is high even on a new clutch. Mine has never sprung up on the pedal though that's a new one to me. Jerky starts when pulling away, well mine was like that until I had the Uprev map done, now it's smooth with no lag in the throttle pedal modulating it is fine. I have a GM colour car so went for the alezan seats to brighten up the interior as the black ones made it a little dark and dreary IMO. Zeditus is real
  17. I need to hook up with my old mate Mark, he runs a company called "The solar shop".The guy has been banging on about solar power since I first met him in 96 He made a mint marketing solar powered street lighting in SA. Don't worry gangzoom no accounts hacked I think the solar revolution on the horizon with regards efficiency has sparked a new interest in the topic of EV vehicles for me.From cars to street furniture and even roads generating power my concern over charge times on EVs are dissipating.
  18. They reckon no more than five years before super efficient tandem layered panels go mainstream. The substance can be used on its own but is subject to degradation and damage. Once perfected even glass trim on a vehicle could be harnessing the power of the sun. Quite an exciting prospect to be fair all that free clean energy helping to charge the cars of the future.
  19. Missus has a fiesta already? You would get a decent focus estate for that money.
  20. Perovskite/silicon tandem panels, there you go
  21. Possibly mate I don't know without looking it up. The program was about silicon and it's use in PV products. They were basically saying most of the energy from the sun is wasted on conventional panels and they were experimenting with combining a carbon based substance which traps and then transfers more solar rays to the panel. I'm no scientist but it was an interesting program and if successful it would make the solar panels ridiculously more efficient at harnessing the energy.
