I agree. Especially if that's what's happening at the Oscars. I think it's just down to the law of probability. More white candidates for nomination will drown out the minority - whether they are Black, Asian or Hispanic. I like to think it's for that reason. Yes, you may think that at least ONE person who is not Caucasian would be selected but perhaps the competition is too high this year and that's just how it is. Whilst it's true that when men talk about the third person as a "He" and women will do the same but only as "she", then a white director/writer will write parts for a white person perhaps. I think there should be more Black directors and screen writers to help bring balance. But if there is no interest on their part to be directors or writers, then the situation will probably remain the same. There aren't many women in F1 or Rally, it doesn't mean there aren't the opportunities for them to take part. it also doesn't mean that the people involved in such sports are sexist.

I think what a lot people might feel is, if you're not racist, it's almost like you have to prove you're not these days. Perhaps that's how this Oscar fiasco is coming across. My uncle works for London Underground. He tells me they have a quota of how many Black, Asian people they have to employ. So positions could take longer to fill due to minimizing potential employable candidates, to find someone who ticks all the boxes including ethnic background. I don't have anything against that and neither does he but, it does come across as proving you're not racist because it may look like there are too many white people in the office.

I do believe the head of the Oscars is a Black women. It could only be more PC if she were a disabled lesbian too. So, for black actors, producers, directors who feel they don't get nominated and that it could be down to racism, is just ridiculous. I'm sure there is racism in Hollywood, it'd be naïve to think otherwise but to make it so obvious in something as public as the Oscars, that really is shooting yourself in the foot as a black woman who has achieved a high status job in managing the Oscars.
