Most modern paints are a lot softer now and very easily scratched. Not sure what your definition of a wipe down is but likely you are causing the scratches if not washing the car properly. A few years ago I had a brand new Civic Type R that was covered in scratches when I went to collect it - they were employing an 'unskilled' valeter for the delivery prep and one bad wash was enough to make it look like it has been washed with a scouring pad! Some car buyers are even asking the delivery prep to be done by a valeter of their choice, and at their own cost I guess, to avoid their pride and joy being wrecked before they even take delivery. A price we pay for non-solvent paints and saving the planet.

Hi, potential new 370z owner in the making

Can highly recommend a Cobra exhaust. £650 - £700 for the half system. Not too loud, not boomy, but changes the character of the car. -

Plenty of other oldies on here. I am 55 this year. Good that you are keeping something in common with your son - they grow up fast and it is easy to lose touch with them. -
Nissan 370z GT Edition Wanted

Don't beat yourself up thinking that you 'missed' a bargain there. It was significantly cheaper than the other Z's they sell - ask yourself why? Was it really for sale at that price or was it just used to draw in buyers? -

It's your money - spend it on what you want. I have known people who drive around in a crap car but will happily spend £10K a year on a holiday. I would rather have a nice car and spend a 'sensible' amount on a holiday. I recall an argument between two work friends, one who was berating the other for financing a car. But the one doing the berating smoked 30 cigs a day, which would be around £450 a month now, and that was acceptable to them because they 'enjoyed' it.

+1 for APM Customs. My son did some work experience there (filming not wrapping) and they are a highly professional outfit and all around good guys. Their premises are immaculately clean and have a dedicated clean room for wrapping. They are located in a couple of different places but Deeside is the HQ, that's where I would take my car if I was going to have it wrapped.

JB33 - congratulations on your purchase. Shame it's going to be a long wait but will be worth it when the day comes for collection. You will get a lot of the could have done this, could have bought that etc. but if I were you I would just ignore this thread now so it doesn't spoil things for you. I choose Z's because there is something special about them which is why I have owned 3 now.

Worst case surely is that the OP hands it back after 3 years having paid £300 month? If it is worth more than the GFV after the 3 years then he could buy it and sell it on. A pretty bog standard family car will cost £23K these days ....
-
Don't get where this supposed £20K hit in 3 years is coming from. If the OP buys for £23K (with the discounts) and car is worth £13K after 3 years then that is £10K. If the OP just makes the monthly payments for 3 years and just hands the car back then he will have spent £11K, still not £20K.
-
The money he will be spending IS the depreciation so you can't add them together. I bought an Xtrail last year. Pre-reg, similar arguement that I wanted a hassle free new car. List price was £30K but picked it up for £20K. 100 miles on the clock and all the new warranty, service etc. Stuck the details into WBAC after a couple of months and they were offering more than I paid so had already negatated the massive hit that you normally get driving a brand new car of the forecourt. JB 33 - might pay to put details into CARWOW and see what deals that other dealers will offer you and maybe also phone around. I did a 4 hour round trip for the Xtrail but saved me a fortune. I am on my third Zed now, virtually no losses on the first two and looking good on the third. Buy wisely and they dont have to be a money pit.

dangerous tailgater caught on dashcam, what would you do?
Ponsonby replied to EcoFriendlyAL's topic in Off Topic Discussion
A national speed limit does not mean that you have to drive at 60 mph. You drive at a speed that is safe for the current conditions. On a wet, narrow road with compromised view I would also have been well below the NSL. We have all been stuck behind someone who we may feel is driving too slowly, particularly on roads we know well, and we may swear and curse but certainly do not harass or tailgate the car in front. I think the OP is justified in being angry and I would also be doing something about it. Would any of want that bus driver carrying our kids? He 'may' tone down his behaviour with kids on board but then again he may not. I rarely get tailgated in the family hack but it is common in my 370, also people pulling in very close in front when they have overtaken on a dual carriageway. -
I am bald as a coot, cannot grow a full beard and would look rather daft in skinny jeans - say hello to me TT if you see me in Manchester. I will stick out like a sore thumb

Best to keep an eye on the Overclockers forum to see if it is still on. I think they are really trying not to cancel in case people don't get the message and have travelled a long way. I would be surprised if many turn up if it does go ahead so there may be plenty of coffee and pizza for those that do. -
Never mind the speeding - obviously using a phone while driving! Hung, drawn and quartered..

Don't wait until you can get to speak to the salesman who sold you the car - they may have wind that you are thinking of pulling the plug and avoiding your calls. Get yourself down to the dealership and don't leave till you have sorted it. Insist on speaking to the Sales Manager who will no doubt be in a meeting but just sit and wait, drink all their coffee and generally make a nuisance of yourself until you get to speak to someone. I don't know the legalities but I suspect that like a lot of financial transactions there is some sort of cooling off period. There must be something that 'protects' the unwary punter who has signed up after the salespeople have done a good job on them. Without doubt though, the sooner you get it sorted the better. Hopefully some 'legal eagle' will be along to offer advice soon. -
My Nismo is staying safely tucked up indoors. Not my driving I am worried about, it is other people's. Plus would be daft not to use the family wagon 4X4 on the few days when the 4WD may actually be useful.

Mine is a 2016 model, 10K miles, and just went outside for a good look. The leather on mine looks smoother and is completely unmarked. Given that you are careful, and your car has only done 1700 miles then it is certainly worth taking up with Nissan.

If you are sliding across the bolster when getting in and out then yes, it will get knackered pretty quickly. Maybe also consider what you are wearing in the trouser department, no zips, studs, etc. But please don't resort to driving around only in your trackies or 'lounge wear'. My son laughs at me because of the way that I enter and exit my Nismo. My bum does not contact the bolster as I piruette in using my hand on the sill for support. Like a 14 stone ballerina : )

I find on my Nismo that the boot works fine if the parcel cover is retracted. If the parcel cover is fastened in place, onto the hatch, then the boot does not work. Strange but true...

Very nice the RX7. Still a lovely looking car. I have had a couple of RX8's but not an RX7. Also had S12, S13 and S14. The S12 was the first turbo car I owned and had monumental lag - but for laughs it is probably the car I fondly remember the most.

Not wanting to give my age away but I was around 20 when I got my first 'sports car'. It was a 2.0S Cortina and my Dad told me I was mad for buying it. It was pushing 105 or 115 bhp, too old to remember.
