  1. This for sure. Just take it easy out there, 140MPH on a "private road" while not familiar with the car is generally a pretty bad and dangerous idea. Don't get me wrong I've done similar speeds on a "private road" before too but it's just not worth it.
  2. Not sure but it's not normal, the Z should be planted at high speeds. Have you owned a rear wheel drive car before? What tyre set up do you have?
  3. Best bet is changing each year between two companies and taking advantage of new business offers. I work for one of the big names above and know exactly how it works. PM for details if interested.
  4. May well do it one day. I'd like a "911" but currently I'm more likely to be able to afford a 996 variant than a 997 but I'd prefer the 997 model as it looks better for starters imho. Could get a Cayman maybe but I've already got some ideas of what I'd like after my current car, the S3. The only problem with Porches is that I can't afford the decent ones My Mams New boxster is lovely to drive but I can't get away with the puny 2.7 lump in it. I can imagine the proper ones being fantastic.
  5. What I meant was that 0-60 as a measurement of performance isn't interesting or relevant. 30-100 or even better 50-150 is a much better measurement to use, really sorts the men from the boys 100% this. On paper my car look's slow if you're looking at 0 to 60. I'd expect to struggle to get in under 6 seconds, some guys on the ST forum have managed low 5's with similar mods but I wouldn't fancy trying. It's all about from a roll performance, this is something that took me a while to figure out for some reason, think I spent most of my early twenties obsessing over low 0 to 60 times
  6. Not sure to be honest.... The three door look's the best tho
  7. haha nice! Mine is on springs at the minute and I think it's had all the bushes done etc. I'm thinking coilovers for the future but don't want it to be so stiff I put my back out every time I drive it. Going to try and find a nice compromise between handling and comfort if possible. Boost pipes have now arrived, nice Auto specialists one's finished in blue. The previous ones look like some cheap ebay specials so not surprising it's gave out.
  8. Oh absolutely, the Z stiffens up at proper high speeds (120+ MPH), whereas the Focus becomes light on it's feet and doesn't feel half as planted, it's still not what I would consider to be bad or anything. My Old EP3 used to feel like it was going to take off at 120 MPH, the ST isn't like that. In a straight line it's just no contest as you say, ST will pull away from the Z every time. I think next on the cards after the CP340 set up will be suspension mods, breaks and good tires, I don't think it's necessary to keep chasing numbers at this point 340BHP is more than enough in this car.
  9. This may be just a tad over the top Dan... I do see your point mind and some of the old front wheel drive Jap stuff does exhibit the traits you mention. I don't find the Focus to be anywhere near as bad as some other fast front wheel drivers, not sure if it's got a fancy diff etc but it's really not a problem, certainly not on the roads anyway, maybe track would be a different story. .
  10. Can't argue with that Joking aside it's actually not half as bad as what people would expect, I went out in a 400BHP ST recently and even at that power the car still put's it down and goes like buggery from 2nd gear onwards. Here's a few recent pics for anyone not on my Instagram or facebook
  11. Boost pipe by the maf sensor has someone split and now I have no boost and a horrible misfire. New one on order and will be a DIY job over the weekend. I went to the ST/RS Z shed equivalent last weekend, a bloke called John Moore who happens to live on my doorstep, really nice guy and well known in the Ford scene. After a coffee and some discussion I have opted for the CP340 tuning pack. So block mod, RS fuel injectors, actuator and a MAP is on the cards soon. Should be somewhere between 340 - 350 BHP once this has been carried out. I've promised myself no more money is going on it after this
  12. I dont know a huge amount about Civics, but 800 kgs, thats seriously light, what are they supposed to be std? Not sure but 800kgs is not out of the ordinary for a fully stripped out EK. TT check out @dannyDC2 on youtube, he has a channel full of K swapped hondas. Just done a 8.00 Ring lap (with traffic) in a K20 DC2. Personally I'd love a K20 EK, such a raw and rewarding car to drive.
  13. Didn't realize stock DE's would run 13's! Quite impressive really for a car many consider to be "slow".
  14. Used to get stopped constantly in my Astra when I was a kid but that's going back 8 years. We used to travel up and down the country for skating tours/competitions and the police thought we were drug running, got stopped every time I passed a police car, it got really bad/ frustrating in the end. Lost a lot of respect for police after the way they treated me in all that. On the subject of police I was aggressively tailgated by someone yesterday on the way home, it was dark and admittedly I lost my patience a little bit and gave it a little stick through the tunnel so the tailgater could taste some flames/bangs. At the end of the tunnel is a set of traffic lights and the guy pulls up alongside me, it was two coppers in a 4x4 jeep style thing. They sit and rev the engine while looking over at me laughing and when the lights go green they gunned it. I couldn't help myself and accelerated hard up to the speed limit and passed them with ease. I slowed, they overtook and gave me a thumbs on on the way past. Very bizarre experience
  15. Lets see a video of your chops then Ekona!
  16. I'm not sure fella, no harm in getting it looked at while still in warranty tho I can say with confidence that my old Z used to love throwing up the EML randomly and it would always be linked to one sensor or other. Never had any issues with the car and after re setting the ECU it seemed to sort the issue each time. I think sensor error codes are pretty common and nothing too worry about.
  17. God I remember that! Absolutely horrendous
  18. I ran mismatched front and back tires on more than one occasion on the Z, I've ran stretched, camber all sorts of unholy set ups and never found it feeling dangerous or tail happy (sorry Dan).
  19. Most my friends aren't in the position to buy performance cars unfortunately. Note to self, stop hanging around with musicians
  20. Just out of interest, why do you prefer turbo over a big NA? My only experience with a turbo is with small engine cars, and I found I really missed the oomph in low rpm, maybe its much different with performance cars? Not sure what boosted cars you have drove but low end torque tends to be a strong point actually. I have about 400nm torque at 3.5k rpm if memory serves me rightly, so low end torque not a problem here That's irrelevant to your question tho, I like the way a turbo puts you in the back of the seat when it spools up, a big NA motor tends to be a more linear experience. Also the noise, call me immature but massive pops and bangs while giving it some through tunnel's etc is intoxicating.
  21. Must admit it did pull on the heart strings a little seeing it. Never seen any of my previous cars after selling them. I start a new job working away soon and the money is pretty good, found myself back on pistonheads again window shopping I've got a taste for boost now and much prefer a turbo motor to an NA, problem is I also much prefer real wheel drive to front and I can't really think of any modern turbo real wheel drive sports cars that fall into a reasonable price bracket. Well that is without going old school and jap and I can't be bothered with the headache of reliability issues.
  22. To be honest I feel like tracking her down and buying it back
  23. I was under the impression the garage I sold it too were going to break it for parts, not that I ever really believed that The car looked like it's been re painted and had the rust issues sorted, being driven by a youngish woman. Such a strange feeling seeing a car you built being driven around by someone else, forgot how well it sat on the coilovers and wide ass rota grids. Mixed feelings after seeing it this morning, happy it's still on the road tho. Dread to think what she paid for it after the peanuts I got for the part ex
