    Audi TTS

Been a while since I posted on here, always like coming to you guys for opinions . Me and the Mrs are considering selling both our hot hatches and having one sensible car and one fun car between us. The fun car would have to be something we are both happy with, budget up to about 15k. As some of you know I currently drive a CP320 Focus ST and the Mrs drives an FN2 Type R. The obvious choice would be a Audi TTS, unfortunately our budget wouldn't stretch to the TTRS. I'm under the impression they can be a bit of a weapon when tuned and I want something I can fettle with on the weekends. Not to worried about running costs etc but it would have to be reliable and fun to drive. I've watched a few youtube videos etc and it all looks pretty promising. Not sure I can cope with the hairdresser jokes which does put me off a little. Does anyone have hands on experience with the car? Would be good to hear some opinions.
  2. Would make a great weekend toy but I wouldn't fancy daily driving a 200SX. Everyone I know who's had one has always been fiddling around with them to keep them on the road.
  3. Yea In reality I'd expect it to be around 40K too. Which for me personally is not affordable or particularly desirable either.
  4. That's quite hard to answer without knowing what performance will be like etc. Lets say sub 6 to 60 and 350+ BHP, I'd be hoping for a car close to the 30k mark. I suspect that's wishful thinking tho....
  5. I'm still quite exited about this, at the end of the day at least it's not likely to be a turbo 4 pot like everything else at the moment. It will have to be running good power and priced reasonably or it will fail miserably in today's market of 30k Hot hatches with 300 + BHP.
  6. I live near the Nissan garage and every tom dick and harry has a Juke round here. Generally driven by chav types and always have something to prove.
  7. Might as well just chuck money into the wind really
  8. Interesting. I can't see a huge reputable Tuner like Jurgen doing anything to risk prosecution. Surely must be a loop hole or something somewhere as loads of tuners do this now??
  9. Wow thanks for the offer! Still going to bide my time and see how the running costs on the ST go while I settle into my new house but I'll keep that in mind if the car is still up for sale in a couple of weeks should I become serious about getting one. Always has been a good forum, hence why I'm still here and haven't had a Z in over a year!
  10. Their may well be better cars out their for 8K but not necessarily ticking the boxes I need currently. To me 8K for a boosted Type R is pretty good value, I mean it's likely to be very reliable, very fast and cheap to run. It would leave most of the modern 30K plus hot hatches wondering wtf just happened when it goes flying past them on track too. I get it tho, it's a lot of money for a civic. Saying that I paid 11 grand for a ford focus last year soooo.....
  11. 8K is about right for a boosted one that's been done properly. The EP3 Prices are going a bit mad at the minute tho I agree, a low mile Premier edition will fetch 7K + now.
  12. Yea I quite like that. It will be a bit of a weapon with 290BHP, the EP3 is a very light car. Jackson racing charger is a solid set up so shouldn't really have any reliability issues. I really do prefer the unique aspect of the JDM version tho, could always buy a Mint low miler and look into boosting it at a later date when the funds allow it.
  13. JDM EP3 - https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/honda/civic-type-r/honda-civic-type-r-jdm-fresh-import/6604330 Supercharged EP3 - https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/honda/civic-type-r/honda-civic-mk6-type-r--jackson-supercharged-288bhp-full-service-history/8321251 Supercharged seems like a good option as it retains decent fuel consumption if driven sensibly, it also means I wouldn't be looking at a huge decrease in straight line performance. The hardest part of getting rid of the ST will be loosing the effortless Torque and Power.
  14. Lot's of votes for the Wee Honda! I've had two EP3's one was stripped, semi caged and running Kpro ecu etc, the Mrs Daily drives a FN2 Type R at the minute too. Currently looking at a Jackson Racing Supercharged EP3 and a JDM EP3 with the Diff in champ white. Really keen on the JDM EP3 actually and I always wanted one back when they came out, still hold very good money for an EP3 tho 7K +
  15. DC5 Is looking like the likely option, will have to be fairly high miles in my budget as sub 70k ones are going for silly money. Non within 100 mile of me which is a bit of a pain in the rear end but I'm prepared to travel for the right car. Never considered the BRZ/GT86 - off to pistonheads again
  16. It's been a while since I've posted on here, been over to the dark side and became quite involved in the Fast Ford Scene over the last year or so. After spending quite a lot of time around the MK2 Focus RS recently I was set on buying one later this year and getting myself in a position to pick one up. A well sorted RS with 400+ BHP is an absolute thrill to drive and sounds fantastic! My ST while plenty fast feels like a boat in comparison, they really did a sublime job with the handling and reducing torque steer in the RS. However circumstances have changed, Me and the Mrs got offered a house we couldn't refuse. The house is awesome but I now live over an hours drive away from work and I'm currently spending over £100 a week in fuel, this on top of decorating a new house is breaking the bank a little at the moment and taking the fun out of the car. Unfortunately this means the RS off the cards for the time being and I have to look at if it's really worth keeping the ST. I have done a lot of driving, moving stuff around etc which has contributed to the cost and I intend on waiting until things settle into a routine so I can judge things better but it's looking likely that I'll be looking for something a bit cheaper to run in the near future. So, budget will be a max of 10K but ideally 8K, I'm looking for something with good handling, involving to drive and light. Has to be big enough to fit kids in the back when needed and fun enough to attack a B road in every now and again, I'm not worried about it being some eco machine but being able to achieve above 30 mpg + on the motorway is necessary. Current contenders DC5 Integra - Top of the list at the minute for obvious reasons but top of budget for a decent one and getting old now FN2 Type R - cheap and cheerful but a bit bland to drive Renault sport Clio - the 200BHP one, nice handling and good fun, awful interior and a bit of a young lads image and I'd probably feel a bit daft driving one Fiesta ST - Does have boost and again meant to be great fun but I can't help but feel it's just a worse version of my car and that might get on my nerves Thoughts guys? Any other idea's?
  17. Personally I think any of the modern 4 wheel drive hot hatch backs would be a contender for this. My MK2 ST is a great versatile drive, very comfy on normal commutes and also bags of performance when needed, however horrendous running costs let it down in this area.
  18. Great fun to drive but I can't get away with the looks either unfortunately. I think the previous version was better looking.
  19. It's a 3.0 straight 6 turbo isn't it? They sound epic with just a turbo back exhaust tbh, had a run with one not long ago in the ST.
  20. Yea man! After seeing videos of 2000BHP GTR's doing 200MPH in a matter of seconds I can't even imagine how mental this thing would be.
  21. Jesus!! Wouldn't be a track big enough in the world to stretch the legs on that thing.
  22. I Constantly worry about this owning a Highly Modified Focus ST, parked slap bang in the middle of a council estate, one of the most stolen cars too apparently. I go as far as parking on a tiny bit of land in the front garden and blocking my Car in with my partners Type R. The Mrs isn't keen on this and feels it draws more attention to the house, I used to hide the cars keys upstairs too but due to having a child in the house I don't bother anymore, just leave them visible downstairs.
  23. Been quiet for a while and forgot to update this thread! After a rather disappointing day on the rollers recently I have been changing a few bits and bobs. Car ran 292BHP and 380IBFT instead of the 320BHP I was expecting. I put this down to a VERY hot atmosphere temp (29) and rubbish intake. Worth a mention several cars were down on power this day when compared to runs done last year with exactly the same set ups etc. Since ordered a nice carbon enclosed intake instead of the open cone I had previously and a nice vent pod boost gauge to accurately monitor boost (with the bonus of it looking cool). Aiming for a few subtle styling mods and then calling it a day for now and putting my money into other ventures (such as the house before the Mrs kills me). Will get some recent pictures and videos of the Dyno run up shortly.
