Another of the favourite buzz phrases. Make an offer and find out usually helps, i have no idea why i would tell someone the lowest figure i would take is unless i was desperate to sell, there is a make an offer facility on ebay classifieds or the letters o.n.o Maybe i am making it hard for myself, but i am selling not buying so its up to the buyer to decide how much he wants to pay imho as i want to get as much as as i can and my lowest maybe less than his highest. The guy who bought my daily did what i expect any buyer to do, asked for my number (from ebay), called up, asked a couple of questions, arranged a viewing and made an offer, i declined his first and he raised it which i accepted, maybe its a generational thing as he was an older guy? A photo and description only tells half the story, how many times do we hear stories on here of people travelling miles to view a car described in good condition only to find out its not (in their opinion) and vice versa you may be pleasantly surprised and realise the car you view is actually better than expected/described/photos and worth the price being asked, as we always say, buy on condition and you will never really know that until your standing in front of it.

Not forgetting duty and vat at 20%

I havent really got any dislikes so to speak, but to make it something really difficult to better imho, its either a 100kg or so too heavy or 100hp shy, but if Nissan had sorted either of those out, it wouldnt have come in at £25k ish (or whatever it was).

^^^ your right no where is safe from it, I dont actually object to offers as said elsewhere in here, if you dont ask, you dont get and you never know the sellers situation, I always start on the low side and hope to meet somewhere in the middle, but I never set out to take the seller for a fool.
-
Personally I think you can thank that cheeky chappy (tw8t) mike brewer, banging on about offers, deals and cash, well I like to anyway. I am generally not sure where this trend is coming from, I change cars a lot, dailies as well and sold 3 cars this year, each time worst than the last, low ball offers and the magic words CASH, like its the holy grail, they dont seem to like it when I ask how else do they intend to pay, magic beans. I have come to the stand point, unless someone is standing next to the car for sale that they have just viewed i wont even entertain an offer, I had three people on the sale of my bongo this month make offers via message that I accepted, then never here from them again.

Coilovers are your answer, uk springs "may" be softer but after having had both jdm and uk there really isnt much difference, its a sports car, its supposed to offer a firm ride, you can soften coilovers right up, its your only solution.

I reckon a few people would do a proper job IF when you came to sell it there was a value for having a proper original kitted rb with some awesome rims etc and not dross like the one linked that exist because they have been built on bare bones £££ with replica kits, wheels etc Devalues a proper kit something terrible.

Dont forget some forced induction to give the go as well as the show

Been For a Test Drive - GT86 & 370z & Scirocco R(ejection)

I wouldnt exactly say the 86 sets the world alight in the looks department in std guise, very ordinary. A few choice additions can set it aside but same can be said for the 1 series, not the hatchback though, that looks dire. -

Yeah, much shorter life than a piston engine and they have to be taken care of; something which you can't guarantee when buying used. Not necessarily, a compression check like any other engine will tell you a lot, but they are not unreliable. -

Dont believe all you read, rotaries can be very reliable, they just have a limited life span usually 60-70k miles most of the people who say they are unreliabke have never owned one ; ) -
Not playing devils advocate and appreciate your stand point (to a degree), i dont think anyone drives down the road and thinks f*ck it, i am going to do 10 or 20 mph less than the indicated limit just because i can and its my choice, they are doing it solely because they are not capable of doing the national speed limit because they are not confident at said speed or confident in the roads (twisty a or b roads) and whilst we all have the choice to do whatever speed we deem fit up to the national speed limit if you dont have the confidence to drive at national speed limits, why would you want to be there in the first place, use public transport. My mum regularly says to me, i am not sure about my driving, so i go for a spin with her, on her own accord she has actively chosen to stop driving on dual carriage ways and mways (fortunately she doesnt really need to) because she doesnt feel comfortable at those speeds and has chosen to give up driving in the dark and if i went for a spin and i said, mum that was shocking, she would stop because she sees herself as a danger and hindrance to other road users, as Strudl says, most drivers are selfish and ignorant, even the ones who drive fast
-
I digress to, its a waste of time anyway, had police, camera etc on in the background the other day, caught a lad, 16 years old, driving his mums car with no licence and no insurance and literally on the limit for drink driving, 8 points for when he eventually got his licence along with a host of others who were already banned from driving being caught in stolen cars driving like c****, waste of our breathe really when thats the justice system
-
Easy, bomb every Audi dealership
-
Your mistaking that i am saying everyone should drive as fast as they ultimately can, i am not, i am saying everyone should be capable at driving at a pace suitable for the conditions, if they cant for whatever reason, then no of course they shouldnt be on the road.
-
Probably would be faster if you lost that lot though, just being pc for Codel
-
If they wrap it round a tree, they have gone past their abilities and no they are not ok to be on the road, obviously. New drivers abilities should be better tested, i already said that, so no, until they are able to prove they have the ability to perform more than basic tasks then they shouldnt be on the road. Older drivers, no if they cant drive or reaction times have diminished to that of a sloth, no of course not, retest at retirement age and 5 yearly. Drivers should be confident in their surroundings and road conditions, many arent and many are over confident. A thorough test should be introduced and a basic retest for drivers over a certain age to check valuable info like reaction times. I will give you an example, i look after a flat for a client, there is an old boy in the block, i timed him actually get out of his car, 3.32 seconds, if he cant even exit a car because his limbs just dont work, what chance has he on the road. Whilst it may appear like i am preaching, i am not and i am not saying everyone should drive round at the national speed limit whatever the circumstances, would you not like to see the roads a safer place?

I think they can look pretty menacing and purposeful, not a pretty car though, but then neither is an 86 imho -
If you havent got the confidence or ability to drive at the speed limit or be able to overtake etc etc, then you shouldnt be on the road in my opinion., your only putting yourself and everyone else at risk. This is the problem with the test, it doesnt acknowledge the ability to drive to your surroundings, just perform basic tasks in simple car control, overtaking, motorway driving, skid pan, driving at night etc should all be part of the test.

I think thats the nub of it, you can bring as much science to the party as you want, but its the above that counts and probably what driving you intend to do, or if you just want to look back as you walk away and think, shes a beauty -
Should be part of the test imho, along with many other things that actually teach you how to drive.
