  1. I was more curious by the amount I know cars are often written off for very little these days though. I almost bought a Cat C (by mistake) not a 350z by he way, it was only because i did a reg check that i found out. It actually wouldnt bother me too much buying one, but from that experience unless you were very lucky you could not find out why it was written off, so although they are checked to come back on the road, unless i personally knew what was damaged and repaired i would never feel comfortable.
  2. Been doing some thorough searching for Zeds this last week or so and surprised by the amount of Cat c & d's on the market, some even trying to command not much less than not written off. I havent really searched for anything else so not sure if its a common theme of the market.
  3. Well this might be coming sooner than later. The Rx7 went for a health check before paint as i had some suspicions which were confirmed, water seals are gone (comparative to head gasket), not bad though, it did 20k miles at anywhere between 400 & 500hp. So she is being broken for parts and soon as i have the cash in my hand, will be searching Looking forward to a change, although i know it wont be the last 7 i have
  4. Can I be the first to congratulate you ........ ;) Sorry for the hijack, but i recognize that avatar, are you on pwc.com?
  5. Was that off Driftworks?
  6. I have put so much money into Rx7's, which i have thoroughly enjoyed to be fair, but now i just want a car i can get in and enjoy perhaps with some light fettling over time. I would imagine with all my projects there has been a 50/50 split with time spent doing and time spent driving and appreciate you will never get your money back. The sad truth with Rx7's at the moment is they hold a higher value as parts than as a whole, they are often returned to standard and the aftermarket parts sold on. Perhaps this is a sign of the economic times or perhaps a sign of the popularity of the car, its been discussed a lot in that community. I would certainly not be spending £5k ish on a new supercharger kit and then fitting for example. If i were to buy a base car i would be looking at 2nd hand fi parts. I know many importers who are bringing in from Japan with the sole intention of breaking and that seems to span the whole jdm model range, skylines, supras etc etc I have seen that and hopefully not to upset any Zed owners, if i had £18k burning a whole in my pocket it wouldnt be spent on one. I appreciate it is an awesome car and must have had 1000's and 1000's spent but it wouldnt be for me
  7. Could you elaborate on the "risky" bit please, are we talking, too much stress on engine, driveline components etc Not so much to much stress but MORE of course. If it`s not tuned properly it`s not likely to last 5 minutes. You also need to factor in other upgrades such as suspension, tyres, brakes. Making a stock 350z pushout 400+ hp is ok but if you actually want to drive it all the previously mentioned parts are a MUST, I have done 5 Rx7's buddy, so know the pitfalls and extras that are never considered over and above the engine work. A curious question but any thoughts and views on whether the auto box would be able to withstand the same 400bhp ish mark. It may seem odd but i have my reasons, its not set it stone that i want an auto however

  9. Sorry, this is what i meant
  10. Hi guys, first post outside of the welcome page, thanks for a warm welcome What would or should i expect to pay for a fi'd z? Coming from Rx7's, i know the price can vary massively for single turbo conversion (i guess an equivalent mod on them. cost etc), so what sort of prices are we looking too and from
  11. They are def not a daily driver, lol, although some guys use them I definitely couldn't but it'd be a very nice weekend toy! Its a good time to buy one, but that seems the general theme with most cars. I suppose they are holding up well for a 20 year old car, but the general feeling is they will at some point become an appreciating classic (of sorts). Most nice or fettled examples are going down the breaking route and shells being given away or scrapped. i am sure one day if i do get out of them i will think, wish i never sold it, look at how much they are worth now

  13. That one self destructed, running a single turbo at a shade over 400bhp, i broke it for spares. I then had a pretty much standard one as a stand in and now onto my next one which is an ongoing project and not worthy of photos yet, lol. I am just having a health check on it before it goes or doesnt go to paint pending on the health check. It has an HKS Ta45 turbo, 505 hp at 1.1bar.
  14. I then had a Fc cab, but no photos, featured in Japanese performance November 06. This was my third.
  15. Your probably not wrong, but maybe to cause some early controversy (in a polite way), it will have a lot to live up too, the Rx7 is an awesome car, hence why i have had 5. Before i bought this one my options included the 350z amongst others, but at the time i couldnt justify the price, but they have come down significantly since then
  16. Dorset is the home of "The Bitch" FI, NOS, Water Meth etc etc - Hopefully he will stumble on this thread then, or maybe its a she
  17. Thanks for the warm welcome I am sure i will have some questions, but trying to find the answers i am sure have been asked before via the search button. If there are any fi owners in the Dorset/Hampshire area it would be great to have a chat
  18. A quick hello from a possible newbie to the Z world. Considering my options to get out of Rx7's, i have had 5 and perhaps looking for a change Lots of info on here which is great so will be scanning around for the next few weeks.
