    Respray

Ah like the Clio V6 The cars i have sprayed are not in the 350z league though, they are older and where a colour change is accepted, sometimes almost preferred. I am asking what are owners opinions of resprayed 350z's?

Yes i know buddy, my last 3 rx7's were resprayed, the guy who does my paintwork is top notch, one of them was magazine featured so hopefully that speaks volumes for his abilities. I am really interested in one, maybe 2 of the original colours which is limiting my buying options and it seems some colours are a fair bit cheaper. Its just out of curiosity as to what z owners think

Out of curiosity ladies and gents, what are peoples opinions on the above subject? I am not suggesting anything like a flip or candy, but a different colour to the original options?
  4. I thought the modified bit was a given seeing as a twin turbo zed is also modified
  5. And its back: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2004-NISSAN-350Z-SILVER-/251234466680?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3a7ebdbb78 and i love the first line: RE-LISTING AGAIN DUE TO TIMEWASTERS/DREAMERS AND FAKE ACCOUNTS!!! Does he mean, my mates/brother/sister etc bidding it up didnt result in a sale, lol. I cant believe they actually think people believe lines like this, lol
  6. Was this one off Pistonheads, seemed lovely if it was
  7. Its not often as simple as that is it, there are often popular choices for good reason, support, parts etc doesnt always mean a not so popular choice is bad and seeing as there was no real mention of any faults i thought i would ask, seems to have rubbed a few up the wrong way so will leave it there.
  8. I did A search for Stillen didnt seem to bring up much at all, but thanks for your interjection, i am guessing you knew everything from day one No, I just did my own fecking research rather than relying on everyone else to put it on a plate for me I did a search under Stillen, four pages of not a lot of info as to "why", so, i thought i would ask.

  10. Unfortunately not, hence why i asked
  11. Well the time is getting closer, a few parts remaining from my breaking Rx7 so i am hot on the 350z trail. It looks like i will get a standard one and then fi at some stage, hopefully soon. I have been doing a lot of reading and searching, looking at others builds and the fi z list. No one running a Stillen on there though? I know they have to have that ugly bonnet bulge and if i got one, i think i would get my mate to fab me up something far nicer. But the question is, why are there not more Stillens? It may sound odd, but in my searches, they just sound stunning and dont want a silent kit or think i would just go the turbo route!
  12. I guess the problem with this kind of car (modified and huge £££ spent) is it is always going to pitched against what you can buy for the money. Sure it may be quicker than some more modern example as mention, rs4, m5 etc but its also slower than other cars that can be bought for less, rx7, skyline etc Personally if i had the original sort of figure asked i would be buying a Nsx (right on the cusp though), sure it may not be anywhere near as fast, stunning to look at though, but if i came to sell it a couple of years later, its still going to be worth at minimum the same money.
  13. Seen this on my recent search for a Zed. I guess the best i can say is, you cant blame a guy for trying. With what i have seen available sat there not selling i would say unless he finds one of those ideal punters with more money than sense he should be taking someones arm off at the "bids" (read friends bidding it up) he has if real.
  14. What exhaust do you have? There is a bit of knack with the statics, make sure the car is nice and warm, dont just bang it straight up to 4500k, build it slowly so you dont get any resonance and keep your foot on the clutch as to avoid gearbox noise Lol, you really need to hear his exhaust... Sounds like one i should avoid if hoping to hit db tests

  16. Fantastic info guys, sounds like you can get a nice system which easily meets most db levels Thanks
  17. Drive by or static buddy?
  18. Brands is anywhere from 102 - 105 static from memory
  19. You would be surprised at 4500rpm only a meter away, a buddies TVR was 104db (every 3db increase is rougly twice as loud), lol and his girlfriends standard Porsche 911 was 96db. A lot depends on tone as well.
  20. Done a search and not much mentioned about db levels for track enthusiasts. Going to try to attend some local meets to get some ideas but from here and you tube clips, i am pretty smitten with the HKS. Castle Combe will probably be the strictest i attend, 98db at 4500rpm static 1m away from the tip. Any ideas or personal experiences with track noise tests.
  21. Total newbie to this forum so not sure if my opinion counts but have been scouring the world of 2nd hand zeds out there for the last two weeks or so, even put a post up about the amount of cat c & d's i have seen. If only on a comparative to what else i have seen in the cat c & d bracket this seems fairly priced, plus you have the bonus of seeing the damage and its repair stage, something highly unlikely with any other cat c or d out there, which was mentioned in my thread when it comes to buying one. Is it worth it, only a potential buyer can tell you that
  22. I wouldn't be touching a Z anywhere near the 5k mark! Its the bottom end of the market for a reason. It really depends what you want the car for, if its for the engine and a bit of fun on the weekends an 03 JDM would do you proud but if your looking for a top spec car with all the goodies and a service history be prepared to pay 8k. Yes they are near enough the same age and the same engine but the spec/colour on a Z changes the price drastically. According to the info on here, jdm cars "can" have all the same equipment as UK cars. The only thing i have not seen mentioned is cruise control, it doesnt seem that popular on other jdm cars so dont know whether the jdm 350's have it, maybe someone could confirm?
  23. I think it depends on usage, if those 2k miles a year have been urban driving, stopping and starting, accelerating, slowing down and accelerating etc i would prefer a higher mileage thats been sat at 70 odd mph on a motorway. Trouble is there is no way of knowing i guess.
  24. A bit jaded with the whole car market at the moment, imho with any car it all comes down to if you, want, need or have to sell. I have seen some beautiful cars (varying) advertised at sensible money just sat there for months and the price comes down and down. Was just curious about mileage and if z owners feel it demands a premium Thanks
  25. Anything like an Impreza or Evo is built for the sole intention (from its rallying heritage) of being very quick point to point, so up to 80mph ish they are very fast, but in my experience once they hit 80 or so they hit a wall, they are also not geared for top end, more for acceleration, they are also as aerodynamic as a brick. I have driven various Imrezas, owned a wrx wagon and also an ra version (lightweight, different gearing etc), also owned an evo4, not much would get past you up to 80 ish and then they would reel you in very quickly (private road track of course).
