My pioneer rear USB has a little cable which has been routed into the cubby. It originally had a female USB termination (so effectively just moved the USB port from the rear into the cubby) now it has an apple connector.

Yep, there's a firmware update you can do plus you need a cable from pioneer and one from apple too, to make it all play. Start here if you're keen.
