  1. Cool project on a cool car. Hope there's nothing bad lurking inside, should be a fun thread to follow. Good luck
  2. When you said "kill" swicth, I thought you meant the engine, not the occupants
  3. It's renewal time again and Elephant have come up trumps New price is £580 with all mods declared (but not replaced in the event of etc etc). Given I hadn't owned a car myself for years before the Zed, I'm quite pleased with how much the premium has dropped off coming up to the end of year 2 Yr 1 - £920 Yr 2 - £695 Yr 3 - £580 Nearly 40% drop after two years. I know you don't really know about your insurer until you claim, but up to now I can have no complaints.
  4. Nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
  5. When my tech fitted mine he had some double walled silicone hosing lying about, which was marginally wider and fitted spot on. Might have been SAMCO.
  6. The problem is as I see it; According to insurance companies younger men may be worse drivers but this is because when they have a crash it's usually a big one/possibly at high speed/writing off the vehicle and involving a claim. Whereas younger women drivers "probably" have a lot of accidents which aren't recorded in insurance stats due to no claim being made. Does that make younger women better drivers then younger men? I don't necessarily think so. Basically everyone should start on an even keel regardless of gender. Gender stereoypes aside Insurers don't care who is a "better" driver, they care who is statistically more like to make fewer claims. So driver A (male or female) with 1 bump per month which they don't claim for is a "better driver" than driver B with one write off in 3 years, but no bumps. The idea that everyone gets treated equally is a bit naive, although I get the principle you're driving at (and agree with it). Insurers are managing risk, so if you happen to fit the riskiest profile (young male driver), you get the risky premium. It sucks, but it's the only logical way to run a business.
  7. Subscribed! This should be epic. Good luck
  8. That's nearly as quick as an Astra VXR
  9. A mate told me to check out a forum before buying the Zed, and I fully intended to drop in for some free advice and disappear, but then I started to read some of the builds and before you know I'd gone fully blown zeditis. The unusually helpful people (for an Internet forum) were just the icing on the cake. I'm staying even if the Zed goes Why is there no option "to hear SMD's sleazy stories from back in the day"?
  10. Looks spot on. Can't really be your first one surely???
  11. Chanel No. 5? Perhaps a more masculine fragrance for Stanley. Boss bottled or chip fat and cigar smoke?
  12. Cool choice for a "sensible" car
  13. If you can afford it, you're passion about it and you'd be happy with it - buy it! It's not about "are your current photos good enough?". If we all thought about things like that we'd own Micra's (to get from A to B ) instead of Zeds and eat corned beef for the protein instead of steak.
  14. I dremmelled out the door grills, it's thick sound killing stuff, which helped the sound a bit. Not sure doing the same for the tweeter grills will help, as it's so cloe to your face? Could it make the sound even brighter? Best results I got in the end was a long time playing with the fader and the EQ and the levels and the crossover on the amp. If I was going to do something more, it'd be more dynamatting.
  15. Brought my Tarmac tee on tour, today in Baton Rouge, Louisianna. First stop of the sportsman's tour was the gun range and second stop was the racetrack. Tee shirt performed admirably and I not only won the karting but broke into the top 10 lap times. Race proven
  16. Just got the roof up for a while on account of some Alabama Hot Rain (34c) and thought I'd do a little review of Florida, as we've just left, and I can relax without being bettered by wind and scorching sun Miami was good, expensive and touristy but well worth a visit. Miami Dolphins game ruled and the cheerleaders and are a different level of hot. The view of Downtown Miami from South Beach is tremendous at sunset. Got to put my Tony Montana shirt on and drive round like I was in Scarface and see the sights The Keys were terrific, again touristy but it was cool to see the overseas highway and Hemingway House and generally hang out. Tampa was great, much better than I expected, quite cosmopolitan compared to some places along the way Busch Gardens was brilliant and I got to see a parent screaming swear words at a child (Brits as well ) The Camaro SS has been great fun, not the most nimble and the sound is hugely disappointing, but it's a great cruiser on highways and the AC is freezing (thank God). It felt like a big car until we got to the South and pulled up alongside an F250 truck!!! Naturally in this beast the thing we've seen most of is gas stations! At 18mpg with two thousand plus miles to cover we do a lot of fill ups, but it's only £45 a tank so far in gas stations I've seen: - A man spark a fag - Pigs feet for sale (as a snack) - Someone asked me to say hello to the Queen - Cheese flavoured popcorn - Peanuts served in a bag of water I got to stay in the world's worst motel in Gainesville (video to follow, if I ever find wifi again) and also see a College Football game (Gators v Wildcats). See a gator up close. Ride an airboat. Found the Blackpool of USA (Panama City Beach). I've eaten all manner of burgers (Wendy's is the best so far). I'm still hoping to fire a gun and go fishin' and go to Medieval Times! Biloxi, Baton Rouge and New Orleans next.
  17. I'm in Tampa later this week, wonder if they'll have any 6s left, could be a good price. I'd like to see the plus in the flesh, but not really sure if I need an iPad replacement
  18. I get what you're saying Dan. I felt the same way about going to Cristo Redentor in Rio (I'm not religious it was something I just al ways wanted to see, for as long as I can remember) it doesn't have to be rational It's mental that a smartphone has more computing power than everything they used to send people to the moon back then, and I just use it to browse the forum and send messages
  19. Where was the moon? Must have missed it. I was too much excited by the shuttle
  20. Picked up our Camaro SS rental, had a drive over to Kennedy Space Center [sic] good fun so far, I remember it being a bit more impressive last time out, but that was before I owned the Zed Sadly not orange Seeing the space shuttle was amazing! Saw 3 Zeds too, two nicely modded 50s and a stock 70.
  21. Unlucky, way to lose 25bhp At least it's not ginger
  22. IIRC the terminal/plug needed some modding with a Stanley knife when I did mine, but it's not a rewire, more of cutting a bit of plastic off.
  23. I can't complain about the Cosworth ones I've had.
  24. Wow, that looks flawless. Do you own a steadicam?
