  1. I've mate who fancies a 2003-06 CLK or C class, it would be his first dip into a prestige marque. I've already mentioned that older more expensive cars, though cheap to buy now, can be hit with bills for expensive parts. He's not interested in a BMW or Audi or Lexus. He's not into going fast, so not really that fussed for AMG stuff, just wants a bit of luxury and a classy looking older motor rather than a cheaper, more modern hatch. Would probably be a petrol with a 3ish litre lump. Any views on these very welcome, I did have a spin through the Merc owners forum but found many threads asking for buyers guides, but not much actual info beyond checking arches for rust. Thanks
  2. Courtesy of Zmanalex: From the workshop manual for a N/A car. NOTE IT IS CRITICAL THAT THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE BE FOLLOWED EXACTLY! IT IS TIME CONSUMING, HOWEVER, ESSENTIAL! 3.1 Remove bleader in the stock upper heater hose. 3.2 Fill radiator and coolant recovery reservoir with anti freeze coolant. It should take 10 quarts (11.365 litres), including reservoir. It is important that the coolant is poured through the radiator filler neck at less than 1.5 quarts (1.7 litres) per minute, in order to allow air in the system to escape. 3.3 When the engine coolant overflows the at the bleader, re-install the bleader 3.4 Warm the engine to the normal operating temperature with the radiator cap installed. 3.5 Run the engine at 3,000 RPM for 10 seconds and then allow it to return to idle speed. § Repeat this action three times. 3.6 Stop engine and allow coolant temperature to drop below 120°F. Use a remote electric fan to assist in this process. If necessary, refill the radiator and reservoir up to the filler neck. 3.7 Repeat steps 3.3 to 3.6 at least two more times (it may take more) with the radiator cap installed, until the engine coolant level no longer drops. 3.8 Check the cooling system for leaks with the engine running. 3.9 Fully warm the engine and listen for the sound of coolant flow through the heater unit, inside the car; while running the engine from idle to 3,000 RPM, with the heater control set at several positions between cool and warm. Repeat this action three times. 3.10 If any sound is heard, continue to bleed excess air from the cooling system, by repeating steps 3.3 to 3.6, until the coolant level no longer drops. Thanks Alex for posting this up
  3. Matt, a PM might be quicker or give Ewen or Rich a bell on 01330 860999 Good luck
  4. Cheers iv asked the question, will have to see if they get anywhere near the eBay item price. I take it you have had no experience with those ones. No I haven't, TBH I tend to get mechanical parts off here and bulbs and wotnot off eBay.
  5. You could try Clark Motorsport, Horsham and Cougar Storee, all on here, for new parts.
  6. Too many near misses to dare flashing one of those torches around...
  7. The reviews on auto trader for reliability aren't as horrific as you might expect for an Alfa. They look gorgeous too.
  8. Go with what you feel bud, there's loads of choice.
  9. Hi Assuming a post meets the rules of the sub-forum in which you're posting, it is approved as fast as possible. I've not found yours yet but if it's not up from yesterday, suggest reading the red text in the swap shop area and considering if the post you done meets them all. Thanks Stu edit - beat me to it

    Plasti Dip

I hadn't noticed until now (thanks for that Flex) I was already blown away by Blue Steel. Sorry for off topic OP, that photo just couldn't be ignored. If you go for it with the plastidip the prep work needs to be good, you can start to see some stuff dotted about on the web moaning that it has had a go at the paint/lacquer underneath and you don't want any damage if you decide to remove it (http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gd-general/256038-severe-damage-caused-plastidip-w-pics.html was the top hit on Google). But as with any horror story like that on the web you can never be sure if there were other factors at play like wrong thinners, impatient removal, etc etc.

You sure you don't want the video? Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk Just upload straight to pornhub, I'll stumble upon it eventually I wish mod powers extended to changing your avatar and locking it I'm off to find an admin!
  13. Have you tried Horsham Developments and RS tuning? Fairly limited options if you need Uprev and TDI have ruled themselves out.
  14. Do keep us informed of any changes please.
  15. Every 50th or so time my Pioneer skips track on steering wheel volume up, not enough for me to get in a twist about it.
  16. I'm not advocating it, just pointing out F1 isn't just a meritocracy, there's been plenty of pump drivers purchasing a seat.
  17. You don't need to be good enough, plenty of bought seats have happened in the past. Just bring along a truckload of sponsorship (a thick brown envelope probably wouldn't hurt).
  18. I just updated it via the App Store, took an hour so including download, everything worked afterwards, then did another backup. It wasn't a painful process, not sure what issues you've read in the mixed reviews, seems to be ticking over nicely for me. Think I had this handy but it took care of itself. http://www.macworld.com/article/2986158/operating-systems/how-to-install-os-x-el-capitan.html PS - I didn't leap from Snow Leopard straight to El Capitan
  19. Think the long term solution is going to be to buy a SAAB. He's not keen on Audi, 3 series, Lexi, or even a Zed
