Yep, I imported them, it didn't take long at all (of course this will depend on the seller). Nissan items are very expensive £250 each iirc - which is why I thought I'd try out a cheap copy first to see how they last.

Yeah, I have various mic's but in this instance I just used a very cheap lapel microphone, like this: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/electret-miniature-tie-clip-microphone-yw71n Just zip-tied it to the offending end (I did both sides), ran it into my video camera, drove around for a few mins and listened to the results on the computer afterwards. (yes, I used to be a sound engineer/producer )

front lower compression arm iirc ex: http://www.ebay.com/...fits=Model:350Z Of course, I'd advise checking that it really is those which are causing the issue.

That would have been great pal but yeh your a fair distance away. It deffinetly sounds like its coming from the rear. It couldnt be the boot knocking could it. I know on my leon cupra r which i just sold had abit of play on the lock mechanism so everytime i went over a bump it banged. As soon as i put some insulation tape around the catch it stopped. I wonder if theres any issues with the same sort of thing on the boot on the zed. I doubt it though?? Hopefully another owner near you that had the banana arm knocking sound, as the sound travels in the car in a strange way, I could have sworn it was rear driver side ! It's just worth considering though, I even taped some mircophones to my banana arms to check (which is when I realised it WAS them in the end). Mmmm are these on the front then? How noticeable was the knocking? Also can you remember how much it cost to replace them fitted? Yep, one end you can replace the bushing, the other end you can't - and for me it was the sods-law end (actually I had Superpro bushes so I knew it wasn't that end straight away). It was very noticeable. Like a slightly hollow rattle, knocking sound - for me particularly over smaller bumps in the road. Once over 40mph I tended not to hear it anymore, just low speed driving. I paid around £70 per arm (new items from ebay - not genuine Nissan items, just copies but 1 year later, no issues), and it took around 30-40 mins to have them fitted by a mechanic that hadn't worked on a 350z before (after seeing it done, it's something you could do yourself if the bolts aren't knackered), so fitting was around £50 (I had an oil change as well).

If you were nearby I'd hop in the car with you to see if it's the same noise I had. (I took my car to Abbey as well, and they couldn't be 100% sure that it was the banana arms either - I'm presuming because it had just started and wasn't badly worn yet).
-
Just to give another pointer... When I had a knocking noise, I honestly thought it was coming from the rear but it turned out to be the 'banana arms' at the front ! (the previous owner had done the droplinks only a few months before) Even trying to do the advised Nissan check on the arms didn't reveal an issue, I just decided to replace them (imported new ones from the USA-ebay) and it fixed the issue

First thing use the SEARCH function & what is your BUDGET !? But just quickly for you.. I've just had new lines (hosetechnic from Clark Motorspot - brake & clutch lines), EBC standard discs, and EBC Yellowstuff pads, as well as Motul RBF600 fluid (both for clutch & brakes). These feel good to me but note, I've only just had them fitted and need to get a track day sorted out soon. The only thing is that I'm going to get someone to see if my system has been bled correctly, or if something else is amiss as it's still a bit spongy unless double tapping the brakes. No fade on a few spirited drives. H-dev sell kits http://www.h-dev.co....oducts_id=25346 They are recommending Performance Friction discs and pads if you are doing a fair amount of track days though. £1,307.69

I like the idea of that, especially as I've just moved into London (Stratford) Oh dear.. Your car wont have wheels for very long lol. im not far round the corner in east ham/upton park Cool, we'll definitely have to catch up at some point! (my insurance didn't increase as much as I expected but if I feel it's dodgy, I can leave it back where it is now )

Glad to hear really good things about KMC, it's going to be my local now (about 35miles away) Does anyone know if his place is open on Saturdays ?

Depending what I decide to do in terms of where the car will be, I'm thinking of getting a car cover for it (too much birdy plop around here!). However, I'd like to get one that I can secure to the car so that it doesn't blow away, nor get pinched Cheers ! This looks good, of course with the price tag (£170.04): http://www.cover-zon...-car-covers.htm (Note I've got a Nismo spoiler)

Actually isn't as bad as expected, in fact miles from it ! Will post up once all done.

It wasn't me but I'm in Nam as well with a black 04

Your fuel sensor will be dirty, it's very common and it causes the car to show as empty with still a load of fuel in there. I've usually about 15 litres in there when the DTE shows 0 miles. Ah cheers, I found the main how to thread, so will look into it.
-
I'll have a look for the thread. Well you can continue using their fuel, I won't
-
I wouldn't use their fuel at all (unless no other option). But more importantly, how the hell did you get that much fuel in the tank ? I can only get 43 liters in the ruddy thing !!! (filled up from near empty yesterday)

Suspension enhancements - is this the correct order?
RobPhoboS replied to Dynamic Turtle's topic in Suspension
Yep, I felt the difference once I put new banana arms on that currently don't have the superpro bushes in them (need to get it done). The steering feels slack compared to before -
There is one at the end of May as well...
-
It's more expensive but I'm trying to work it out now. How many tanks of fuel there and back do you think it is ? (4 ? I'll have around 75miles from/to london)
-
It's the first time for myself, heading over on the thursday - although still trying to work out whether I should cross at Dover-Calais - or Portsmouth to Caen ? Any tips ????

I'll be there, rented out an apartment in the town.
