  1. As mentioned, I said I'd come back and post here as I'm sure there are plenty of people that don't want to go down the route of coilovers & all of the other potential parts (I've done it before ). This is purely just a preliminary quick blurt of thoughts as I've not had a chance to go for a 'proper' drive. So I installed them Thur/Sat, so my set up at this moment is: Bilstein B6 shocks Tein S springs Standard sway bar (with poly bushings) MPSS Tyres (this week will see other poly bushings fitted by Sly and a very much required alignment !) So once the old shocks were off, I compressed them to see how long it would take for the piston rod to extend - the front ones took probably 15+ mins hah, the rears probably about 1-2 mins. So obviously they were for the bin anyway about 20k miles ago I think. I've not had a real chance to push them as of yet, so I can only comment right this moment on initial impressions of typical daily driving. Which was driving from Surrey back into London. The ride now rebounds far quicker, so it feels harder but the actual sensation from this is more rounded, it's not harsh at all and certainly gives you a more confident feel. I've noticed that the tyres remain in contact far better than before, as a couple of joins on a bridge near here would slightly unsettle the car, it doesn't at all now. So far, so good and I can only echo what the other guys have said.
  2. How old are you lot, jeez. Look if he installs it because it looks good to him, fine he'll still supposedly get the benefit of what it's intended for... Bracing (not a harness point as it states). Heh.
  3. Scott_f91: IF your friend wants to make a few for that sort of price, I'd have one ! Pritchard: It's a shame that you can't use a harness but I guess it just act's as another bracing in the middle of the car ?
  4. It looks bloody awful (IMHO), I'll leave out my uncensored thoughts but I do like looking through the pics on BB every so often, good for a chuckle
  5. Just a quick question - does the bonnet open up higher than what is pictured in glrnet's photo ?
  6. Got to say that's in lovely condition, you've really looked after it I sorely miss my one as well, it's went to a Toyota collector in Belgium ! GLWS
  7. Possibly your rocker covers on the DE, same as my one. I have to top it up every few weeks (but I also noticed my old oil pan plug wasn't torqued at all !). So before replacing the covers, I will try this initially: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/94723-rocker-cover-grommets-no-need-to-replace-entire-rc/
  8. Definitely Motul RBF600 fluid, and I opted for EBC Discs, and their Yellow Stuff pads (bit dusty) but zero fade & have Hosetechnik brakes & clutch line. In the future, I'll change the discs to ones which don't have that horrible bit of corrosion on the surfaces. Don't forget to bed the new discs/pads ! http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/18649-how-to-proper-brake-in-procedure/
  9. Check out what's left of these utterly STUBBORN feckers
  10. I can forgive the spelling and grammar (largely) but I can't stand new forum members not using the frigging search ! Haha
  11. Well depending on your lighting in the shed, it'll be either of the last two which should ensure the white is close to white. Auto probably gets confused if you have day light surrounding the shed but strong lighting inside it.
  12. Right, I did the left foot on the brake whilst going over some cobbled surface. The noise stops when I did that. Which points me to the compression arm. However, now I have to figure out if it's the ball joint or the bushing, if it's the bushings no problemo as I have a couple of poly sets to try out (as it's currently the stock rubber one).
  13. I'll check them, they seemed ok to me, not split. I'll do a search for how to check them. Cheers
  14. It's just the white balance, if you can manually set it, just do that with a white bit of paper in front of it first, then set it.
  15. Hey guys I installed my new suspension yesterday, all parts are torqued as per the manual. I thought it could be the top mount but it's tight and seems good, as well as the suspension piston rod nuts. I don't have the cat exhaust shields, and tried without the strut tower bar. For the last couple of weeks I had the rattling after installing new springs. It was far louder and i assumed that it was the broken front left top mount (2 nuts were broken, so not holding properly). So it leads me to assume it's the compression arm again but they were changed on 20th April 2013. Just seems odd that the noise has only just started when I've changed the suspension (with another top mount). It's a similar noise as before just not as loud. I thought they would last a bit longer than that. I'll try to get an audio clip up.
  16. Sorted! Thank you Mark at Abbey for that, and of course grlnet!
  17. Driving down there now, cheers for the suggestion!
  18. Hey guys, I urgently need to get hold of a standard front suspension top mount for the 350z. Does anyone nearby-ish have one? I'm based in Farnham, Surrey. The threads are ruined on one, I have new nuts for another one if anyone can help.
  19. The jacking up unfortunately didn't work out, but I did chisel, hack and dremel out the one on the right! Revealing a pretty knackered not and obliterated nut. Now I'm trying to get the other one on the left out. The nut splitter fits but due to the flange on the nut it doesn't split it properly. Ukmail have screwed up big time, so I urgently need to get the top mount from someone today or tomorrow morning.
  20. You can test them by taking them off, compressing them and seeing how long they take (if at all) to extend. (try a quick search on Google or YouTube for testing broken shocks or something) Yeah the prokit is good if you want a 30mm or so drop. I don't want it like that for many reasons so did it with b6 and tein.
  21. Possibly this place: http://solid-fabrications.co.uk/
  22. Ah I spoke to that guy last year, I think I have his contact details. I'll find them.
  23. Ah, great idea about the jacking up part. Will have to give that a go in the morning! I really appreciate your help mate, I'm sure you've seen it all before ad well.
