  1. Hmm, sounds like I just need to replace my gearbox then...
  2. best of luck, ask if you have any questions
  3. Build them them. The most complex tool I needed was a soldering iron. Entire thing only took: 1x Screwdriver 1x Soldering iron 14x 30,000MCD 5mm LED's 2x Clear reflectors 1x Tube of clear Silicone 2-3x Metres of wire pretty simple really
  4. @ Mattross - These are the ones I used.eBay link They come with resistors but if youre using just 1 LED, these are needed, as I found out, if you using 3 in series the LED's themselves create enough resistance. They are 12v 5MM diodes. @FUG - The fitment on these is perfect. Aside from the markings on the back that say made in Taiwan, if I had bought the car from new with these fitted I would have assumed they were genuine Nissan. @rtbiscuit - Cheers I cant remember now (im not driving to work this week, car sharing with a colleague) but I think you can still kind of see the LED's themselves, but the uneven reflector surface does help to break up the lights so it does spread out. Glad everybody likes them anyway. The original plan was to make and sell these, but its a good 10 hours work at least in each one set and £25-30 in materials, too much time! In all honestly, I suspect 99% of people can make these, the soldering stuff is fairly easy, just takes a lot of measurements to make sure your mid line and drill holes are perfect, a very small difference is glaringly obvious once the LED's are illuminated.
  5. As I said in my for sale post, against a darker colour my old ones would look great. Just didn't look right on my silver
  6. FML, haha I was moving them in my libraries, 5 mins EDIT: Fixed, sorry!
  7. Hey all, was going to post this in Electronics and I.C.E, but then also fits in Styling, so put in out here instead! Inspired by some other builds I took this on with a little advice from a few other members. My silver Zed originally came with some plastic, carbon looking LED's in the original reflector holes. I never likes these, I simply don't think a big black strip looks right on a silver car. So, off to eBay to buy some silver reflectors. these are available, genuine Nissan, for around £50, but seeing as I was going to butcher them I didn't want to waste that amount of cash, so I plumped for these eBay Reflectors. They arrived within a week which wasn't bad from America! My original idea was for 6 LED's, seemingly what most people go for. I started out by finding the mid point of the reflectors and drawing a line on the rear so I knew where to drill. The reflectors have a small, 3-4mm gap between the silver rear surface and the clear front, you need to drill carefully to avoid touching the clear front with the drill! The first time I did this I realised I had drilled 1 LED too high on each set, so, straight in the bin they went 7 days later I started again, took more care this time with my mid-point calculations, I then started drilling. Before I knew it I had 7 holes and not 6...somehow...but I decided this was fine and continued. This, was my original wiring plan. 7 LED's wired in in series. Joined together by soldering the legs. So (having not soldered for a while and being a little rusty) I spent 30 mins orso soldering this up on each reflector, whacked a 12v car battery onto them and ..... no light. Crap. I then slid the negative wire down the set of LED's, when I got to the last set of 3 they lit up , I assumed I may have wired the 4th LED in backwards, so proceeded to de-solder this one, check the two sets of 3 and solder in another led, finally....no light After 45 mins orso of swearing and wonder WTF was going on I figured it out. Resistance. The LED's ONLY worked if you had 1, 2 or 3. As soon as you attached 4, nothing. So, this was my solution. I later on dug the silicone out of the middle hole and wired in a single LED as I didn't like the gap! So, next was to seal everything, here is the start of the siliconing, I carried on filling this up totally with silicone and flattened it out as best I could. Basically I was just trying to stop water getting into the actual reflector lens, or touching the electronics. From here I left the silicone to dry for 48 hrs and then hooked these up to a battery, firstly to test they still worked, and secondly to burn test them. I left them lit up for 24 hours solid and then (using the little in-line controller seen in the bottom right of the photo) set them rapidly flashing for 24 hrs. The last thing I wanted was to have these things die after a few days on the car! So, then they sat like this for a few weeks. Eventually I worked out a way in my head I was happy to wire them in and a few days ago I fitted them. Photos are below. In the day they just look like normal reflectors, which I like
  8. Agreed, Bose ipod hack http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/45398-bose-phono-ipod-hack-guide/page__st__100
  9. Nope, not something I have heard, but id say if you hold the bracket and the noise stops, the bracket is probably your issue
  10. I never found any secret compartment. And oh, don't get me wrong, the car was terrible, I got rid of it after breaking 3 drive shafts, a suspension strut failure and the complete failure of 3 engine mounts (meaning the engine was literally hanging out, resting solely on piped and things) but is was a lot of fun to drive as it had a large amount of horsepower (for my 2nd car bear in mind) and not too much weight. It was however ruined when things like the 1.4 Turbo corsa VXR's came out as they wiped the floor with it! I do still miss driving it!
  11. Seems a lot of cars to me, Ive only been driving 5 years and Ive had... 1.4 Renault Clio RT (R Reg) 2.0 Peugeot 206 GTI (V Reg) 1.8 Toyota Celica Gen 7 (53 Reg) 3.5 Nissan 350Z (04 Reg) I kept the Clio and the Peugeot for less then 6 months each. The Celica Ive actually had since mid 2009 and the Zed is a month or two old I must say however, the 206 GTI is STILL the most fun ive ever had in a car. Yes, the zed is clearly the best one there, but the 206 was much more fun to drive Always wanted toe 180 BHP version of the GTI as well.
  12. looks awesome, one of my favourite cars in production right now.
  13. Flashing bulbs normally indicate faulty ballasts I also considered doing this, however, on pre 2006 cars, the High beams are reflectors rather than projectors. These done do well with HID lights as the beam pattern will be all wrong. plus, as smudgedon said, kits like this aren't meant to be flashed, significantly shortens their lifespan. On the more premium cars that have these, I BELEIVE the bulbs are always on, and a flash happens because a trap door type thing moves and lets the light come out and then goes back.
  14. I have already used those sensors in my previous car, the Celica. For the price I could never fault them, I even got the wireless version so was no wire between the control box and the screen, but firstly, I don't want to drill really, and secondly, I want a Chargespeed bumper in time and don't want top have to re-fit sensors into that looks like the only way for me to find out is to buy one and see for myself
  15. I know it's a lot of hassle, seemingly anyway, but I don't use the cubby and have heard mixed reviews on those sensors where you don't need to drill, plus this is actually cheaper! Only reason I don't want a HU is I like the built in Bluetooth, no matter how annoying she can be
  16. Hey all. Have been debating between a reverse sensor set-up and a reverse camera for a few weeks now. Ive decided on a camera for the sheet gadget-ness involved I have found a camera id like, same one BulletMagnet used, however unlike him, I don't have, nor do I want an aftermarket HU. I would MUCH rather have a screen inside the cubby on the dash. So, off to the bay of e I go. Click Me. One I was expecially looking at was Linky due to the fact it has the reverse guidelines. What im after is one that will fit into the cubby with the absolute minimum 9none if possible) of cutting or removing anything (obviously aside from making a hole for the wires to pass through). Can anyone who has done something similar advise which screen would be best, but solely on a fitment perspective. Of the top if my head, im thinking somewhere around 4-5 inchs would fit lovely, but don't want to waste time and money of something that just wont fit! I don't mind of course cutting the screen up, or sanding the bezel to make it fit, just don't want to harm the car at all.
  17. Waxybox day is fast approaching. I'm a little ashamed to say...im excited about it!
  18. I feel compelled to go and check mine now. Never seen a sump rust through, must have taken a whack by a rather large stone at some point to chip the paint and expose the metal to the elements.
  19. Id say you've been given false info. The cars came with 1 type of oil filter, I can hardly see the specification of this changing...
  20. Yep, I believe its facelift only, hold both buttons (with car locked for 5 seconds, this will de-activate the anti jacking feature (having to press unlock twice to unlock passenger door). Again, facelift only, no total closure setting as far as I know, but pressing and holding unlock for 3(?) seconds drops the windows down. Sadly none of these work in my pre-facelift model. The ECU did change from one to the other so that's prob why.
  21. Ermmm.... BAT 771E Im surprised that's even allowed..
  22. Im guessing these were an extra manual as for some reason this lot isn't included in my regular book or in any extra books I have (such as the warrenty booklet and such), useful to have this around anyway
  23. Check Wikipedia, and don't turn off cynical mode. Its 100% a rebadge of vpower. In other markets, from memory, America and Canada to name a few) vpower has been called vPower nitro plus since 2008. Its literally a rebrand. The DID used to do a nitro plus racing which was 104 ron but sadly got rid of that a few years ago. Ive also given shell technical a call on 0800 731 8888 , the RON rating is the same as vpower which is 99. I drive by 2 shell stations on my way home from work every day. 1 evening, its regular vpower, the next morning the forecourt is covered in nitro + logos and flags, somehow me thinks all the regular vpower didn't just disappear overnight. the ONLY thing that they've changed in terms of fuel mix is the lubrication stuff. Still, not that it matters, il always buy it.
