  1. Just a quick update, I stuck my head under the front one today and I unclippd the plug and joy of joys there was loads of slack so I dropped it down and wired in my extension there blew a fuse the first time as I had the radio on so the lighter was live! Quick fuse job and all is good cheers for the help!

    Accident

Sounds nasty. I'm never going to do that lean in start manoeuvre ever again. Hope you start to feel better soon
  3. Nice exhaust dude, sounds lovely. I know that road.... lol
  4. A flashing LED means that ones about to fail too. Never checked on a Zed, but in my previous 2 cars most of the exterior lights were on 1 fuse though.
  5. This is what I bought too! but I want to hide everything away. Il have a dig around the front Cig lighter to see if I can get this out and tap into the wires there.Cheers for all the help
  6. Hmm looks like a lot of plastic but doesn't seem too difficult, cheers il give it a shot when the parts arrive! That is of course unless there's a easier to get too 12v feed. Il have to dig up some wiring diagrams and see if I can tap into the wires further along the car, surely they travel through the central part where the handbrake is... Or, is the front one any easier to get access too? SuperStu, yeah I guess I could but I do actually use the Bluetooth in the car for calls so I wouldn't want to upset that really.
  7. Hey all, I'm trying to hook up an iPhone charger using the rear cig lighter as a power source. I still want to be able to use the actual outlet so I want to remove the front and wire in one of those extensions behind the scenes and then plug a iPhone charger into that so I can then route the cable into the central cubby hole. I have had a dig around but I cant seem to find an easy way to get access to the rear of the cig lighter but I figure there must be a way, just wondered if anyone has done this before at all or if anyone knows how to get the front off. Cheers all
  8. The reset procedure is on the first page. I did this today too. First time I tried I had the iron waaaaaaay too hot and actually removed the copper tracks from the PCB so I have to revert to tracing the tracks and soldering on some connecters further along with the iron on half heat!
  9. had that on my Celica. The one there without the 3rd centre post is the JDM version, the UK one has 3 legs and is a slightly different shape. IMO... leave it on the Celica.
  10. They do seem a lot more complicated nowadays than in the past. My previous cars were great, tiny gaps where you could only get 2-3 fingers in and the metal retention clips were inside the light unit where you couldn't see. But the Zed takes the biscuit with having to remove the wheel and half the arch liner to change a bulb...
  11. I doubt there's enough room from the top. There's just about enough to get the bulb out!
  12. Makes me laugh how the button labelled ESP turns off the TC but not the ESP... And thanks for clearing that one up, so therefore ive never has the ESP step in
  13. If this is relevant I don't know, however, the dome lights are 31mm festoon bulbs, the boot light is the same 31mm festoon, the sun visors are 29mm festoons, all can be changed in less than 5 mins total (but id advise against doing what I have done using LED's in the sun visors. Far too bright...
  14. I cant see this holding up for very long on the front of a Zed to be honest. This stuff is cut-able and peal-able. One stone chip and the wind will probably start lifting it from the car...Maybe its OK for the bottom of the bumper like people seem to do but seems silly for an entire car.
  15. Yep, as above, the dash lights are a very fiddly soldering job, everything else is a case of plug and play LED's, very simple with an hours worth of research. The most expensive will be the reflector LED's I suspect however.
  16. I always find the Zeds ESP (assuming that also triggers the traction control/slip light on the dash) very easy to trigger, especially in the wet, even on 1/4 throttle doing 20mph, it will give a little then kick me back in line.
  17. I also did the lights on the sun visors. Theyre 29mm festoon bulbs. I think mine only have 4 LED's on them but theyre super bright as you would expect. i used a plastic trim remover tool to get the lens off as its a little thin so be careful if you go for that.
  18. hope its not the same as mine, notchy from 1st to 2nd and then grinds when entering 5th. Im saving the pennies for a new gearbox, again, from Alex as nissan wanted £700 in parts + the cost of labour just for a box rebuild...

    Metal Tag

i always wondered this too, i just figured it was of some relevance and hid it away in a drawer.
  20. worth it for such an epic plate I agree with mkost numberplate laws, but spacing is a stupid law, as-long as the text doesnt overlap ofcourse.
  21. Like it! im workjing on some but doing the drilling from the back-side of the reflectors insted of cracking them open. Mine will be controlable however they wont dim with the headlights. Looks good though mate
  22. Bullet, best idea ever! Will, come to think of it, there is! pop off the wheel arch liner on passenger side, look below the headlamp and theres a big bottle full of washer fluid with what iirc looks like a motor attached too it and an electrical connector. mines already dead, im guessing motor is dead as i cant wash my lights (and it upsets me that this is broken) but you could just unplug this. Just remember to re-activate it come MOT time. I have yet to find a fuse for the washers as that was what i intially suspected was wrong with mine!

    Creak

mine does this too. Droplinks or the bannana arm are the usual suspects i need to get round to changing mine.
