  1. The Pheonix has been on axle stands since Trax. Took her out for a quick road test prior to Hunter realignment. First impression on start up. Deep throaty noise from transmission tunnel from the new gearbox mount which as I have aready a plated Kazz diff didn't seem unusual. Once I got up through the gears a few times and negotiationed a few tight corners I realised that the diff was not clunking as much, the gearbox was so much smoother to operate along with no vibration under hard acceleration and on over run. Very pleased with the overall result and looking to drive her after realignment. Please do not think these mods are for a daily driver as you will think you have swapped your beloved Z for a Defender!! As mentioned before being a stubborn bugger I took a flyer buying the Cobra Misano seats. They have only been fitted in the US due to the right hand Z floor pan being much higher. So as I'm not the sort of chap to be shot from a cannon at the Circus the challenge was on! The supplied seat base from OMP sat the seat far too high to avoid the bump in the floor allowing the seat rails to pass. This also meant that the seat sat too near the door so it would shut! I ordered another base, mounted the seat nearer the transmission tunnel, ditched the runners whiched lowered it even further and after an AJ/Buster slot modification bolted the seat directly in the position suited for me. The first Misano seats fitted to a uk Z! Nice to see the newly refurbished wheels!
  2. I went for the Hardrace mount but not driven the car since fitting. Bob and I finally got the Cobra drivers seat sorted today and am very pleased with the results. Road test and photos tomorrow.
  3. So sorry to hear this. Fantastic photo. Our thoughts are with you and your family.
  4. Sorry to see this. Hoping you can get the car repaired. For many a damaged car can be a way to move on to pastures new. Things are not that simple when you have had the vehicle from new and the game plan is long term ownership. Fingers Crossed mate.
  5. Good for you Hugh. Thinking you need a project car to fill all the surplus time you now have.
  6. Thanks Chris. Seen Busters welding. All the weight I’d save with the new seats he’d weld back on! Lol
  7. Cheers mate. Looked on google at a stripped out Z and think I may be cutting the hump out of the floor pan!!
  8. Worked on the suspension over the weekend. New rear shock replaced the leaking unit. Wondered why the car was shimmying/porpoising under hard exeleration! Nearside front upright lower ball joint swapped out and replaced. Thanks to Bob the Sledge for help with removal and Chris the press with refitting! Lol The Cobra seats were always going to be a challenge as I'd only seen these Chairs fitted in the US on left hand drive cars.I was told initially by GSM that they were too wide at the shoulders to fit into a 350z but after a meeting with the car,Gareth and a tape measure we decided that they could just fit. Passenger seat fully installed, drivers seat in but sits too high at the moment due to the hump in the floor pan but width is not a problem. Buster and me have a cunning plan to modify the seat base. Work in progress pics!
  9. The seat transplant looks awesome!
  10. Not much to add but I’d like to thank Lexx for his hard work and dedication to the best car forum in the Uk. I wish you well for the future mate.
  11. A busy and dusty week taking down a large chimney, but a large box arrived today which cheered me up!
  12. Fitted the white line anti roll bars and drop links this afternoon with Buster. The front one was a right pain as the Supercharger intake pipe and the remote oil filter braided hoses made removal difficult. Thinking the sarnie,Coke, donuts, coffee, crisps made up for it! Thanks mate. Gearbox mount and putting everything back together is tomorrow's job before a Hunter alignment next weekend.
  13. Silver Wheels in Ferndown Dorset. £312 all up including tyres off and on which I think is good value. Seats being delivered next week apparently. Buster popping over to help me fit the ARBs tomorrow afternoon.
  14. Decided to fully refurb the 5Zigen wheels. i bought them a few years ago in exceptional condition but after scuffing the two nearside ones on the Euro tunnel and a few seasons of shows they were looking tired. Very impressed with finish as I know Smoked Chrome is very difficult to produce.
  15. Looks like we have a busy couple of weeks mate!
  16. Welcome along BBZ. If you hang around hear for too long you will contract Zeditus. Best illness ever! Lol
  17. Hi mate. the gap between is quite large. Approximately 200mm. i just made do with the existing wheel liners with the help of some black cable ties! My car sits very low so you can't see them to be honest.
  18. When I bought my genuine V3 from Tarmac Sportz it came with an alloy extension panel which joins the undertray to the back of the splitter to make up the difference. May be worth a call to Chris to see if these are available separately.
  19. Hi guys I have some new chairs being delivered at the end of the month so my seats are available. 2007 hr Gt spec with electric and heaters. The car has covered less than 40k miles so as you can see they are in exceptional condition. Im looking for £400 and as they are rather bulky it's going to be a buyer collect or meet me half way scenario.
  20. Thanks guys for the encouraging words. This ongoing passion for the Zed doesn't make financial sense but I'm loving it!
  21. After yet another diverse and enjoyable season of shows, sprints,HillClimbs and track days the long winter of deliberation is looming. Ive come to the conclusion that our beloved Zed cars are getting a bit long in the tooth now and the new era of small engine 4x4 turbo cars have moved the game on regarding launch and gearbox technology in such a way that big power does not necessarily mean fast. How do I justify spending any more money on a 10 year old car rather than moving on? The answer is simple. The car has gripped me like no other. The Pheonix and I have come a long way together. This Forum is the best and friendliest out there. Not sure how long a large engine rear wheel drive manual car will be available. So call the men in the white coats as this is my plan. 1. Full interior makeover. 2. Arbs, gearbox mount. 3. Ohlins shocks. 4. New seats ordered.
