  1. It depends what the light patches are; If it's just where the door cards are dirty then a dressing won't help matters; a weak APC sprayed on, agitated with a suitable brush and then wiped clean with a damp microfibre will be the best way to clean them. Once dry you can then dress. If it's just faded plastic, then a dressing as above is the answer - although I find a plush microfibre or brush dabbed on to apply rather wiped on finds its way into the dimples better.
  2. The blue stuff is the same 3M tape used by detailers, it's low tack, water resistant stuff unlike the white variant - it can be bought from places like Polished Bliss (on my phone so can't currently provide a link) and is a fair bit easier to follow a curved line than normal masking tape but still takes some concentration. However I have never used it for painting so I don't know if there's anything better for that about.
  3. To be fair, it's the same argument so it's not really another debate...
  4. Yet again, promises of what will be (possibly, perhaps, if the tech develops that way and is actually brought to market) at theoretical price points which theoretical permanence claims. Try and do that Euro journey NOW and see how long it'll take you. It might not cost you a penny in fuel (I have no idea if Europe offers free charge points at all, let alone how common they are there) but it'll cost you a hell of a lot more in lost work days!
  5. What you do is this; Tell the Mrs to put her feet up. Offer her a brew and put the kettle on. Start "tidying" the lounge whilst the kettle boils. "Notice" that the TV needs dusting whilst tidying. "Accidentally" knock the TV over with enough force to break it. When she starts to complain about what you've just done, play the "I was only trying to help" and "I was trying to do something nice for you" cards. Result; 1) The TV no longer "works fine", ergo NEEDS to be replaced. 2) You'll never be asked to do any dusting (or potentially any tidying) again. 3) You never got round to making that brew either.
  6. Plenty of better known, more proven brands about, to be honest. If you're willing to pay a detailer, go to a certified guy and opt for the GTechniq CS Black or Gyeon Q2 Mohs+ treatment for ultimate, long term protection, or I'm sure Ricey can suggest the best CSP products and how to use them (or just pay Ricey to use them, he seems quite handy with the Nano Sealant. ).
  7. Essential? Really? As in you can't possibly survive without one? I sincerely doubt that, that will ever be the case. Considerably more desirable I'll give you, but essential? Never.
  8. Detailing isn't just cleaning though, even to an anal degree
  9. Again I really cannot see the advantage of using your watch over your phone, it might save a second, or two. My life is really not so busy I cant get my phone out. Or the advantage over a contactless credit/debit/Oyster card for that matter. Especially in the example of the London Underground... I just don't "get" it either.
  10. Well, you can put it on any car legally. You just can't legally be on a public road at the time.
  11. It'll almost be worth it then...
  12. I can just see the headline now; People of the internet in difference of opinion shocker. Meh. Some people find the 350Z boring to drive; so f*****g what.
  13. Many. None useful (or even related) to this though. In fact some of them aren't even suitable for the public... Sorry, not very helpful I know, but then what else would you expect from me?
  14. Not used any of their stuff myself, but there's plenty of reading material on Detailing World about them if you fancy spending an evening trawling through it - the only opinion I've formed so far is amusement at the claims that UNC-R "does not suffer from hard water spotting" but the first suggestion for other products is their water spot remover. I'm not convinced by their sales claims (not saying they're bad products though, but I'd be doing a bit more research on them before shelling out that price for them). I presume it was the painter that recommended those products? Also, Veilside z seems to be mistaking "detailing" with "valeting".
  15. That couldn't possibly happen - you may not be able to see from the pictures because it's so well finished and the fixtures have been cunning well disguised, but that there bodykit is glued on with rivets don't you know!
  16. And therein lies Apple's core (sorry!) market; people who need someone/something else to tell them who & what annoys them...
  17. What concerns me most is that before this thing existed, somebody actually thought* this should exist. *I use the term loosely.
  18. The AS rep will only give you advice about AS products and even then it's often just the sales pitch rather than impartial advice. Whilst most of the products are very good I'm not sure they'd be the best to ask for general advice. Chemical Guys will be a similar situation in that they'll give you their sales pitch... Unfortunately they don't seem to know what they're selling even! Try and find out conclusively what Blacklight actually is/does for example. I wouldn't trust any advice gleaned from CG personally. For general advice, you're best off asking a detailer like Ricey or Polished Bliss - both of whom are incredibly knowledgable and honest and will help you out no end when they have time - or post up on here, you'll get varied options at the very least but there are some knowledgable guys and girls around here (somewhere... I'm told )
  19. Three. The rest are just Ekona in disguise.
  20. Or to go for a semi-permanent coating instead of wax (or even under wax, if you feel like wasting product...). Or a respray, of course.
  21. There's little need to do this if you're going to clay/decon to be honest as the clay/tar remover/fallout remover will strip any old wax anyway (hence why there's not many about aimed at removing wax - more now for reviving coatings though I'll grant you). The same goes with polishing, that'll remove old wax too.
