  1. you'll have to give us more detail that that... such as how much torque, how cold was it, and more importantly... what track where you on as you wouldnt have done that intentionally on the road, shirley?
  2. Cos they arent manufactured by the same company if Japspeed or Scorpion made a single exit it would be dirt cheap, but Agency and GReddy are just better! better metal, better welds, better fitment= higher price!
  3. also consider Cobra (who im going to be going with when mine goes) and maybe blueflame exhausts - Cobra do two y pipe back ones for £395 or £425, and blueflame do a cat back system for £640 ish i think.
  4. A spoiler 'spoils' the smooth flow of air moving over the car, which can reduce lift at high speed, making a car more stable. A wing actively generates downforce pushing the car into the road, giving the tyres more grip. For top speed you want to reduce lift for stability, but also decrease drag, hence why Le Mans cars run long tails to be as slippery as possible and have the wing set at a shallower angle of attack. For corners its all about downforce for extra grip, but this is at the expense of top speed as the drag increases.
  5. found this, thought id share. Memorable shots include an audi going backwards
  6. hmmm, my gf might not appreciate it if i take the car out instead of her tomorrow Although in this case its petrol getting cheaper, which the price of eating out will double overnight!
  7. certainly different! $250 is a bit steep though, although i can appreciate the machining that went into it. Doesnt look good with a short shifter though, and surprised it doesnt say what metal or thickness is - dont want to bend it with enthusiastic shifting!
  8. wow, this isnt quite how i expected this thread to go! seems to a be a resounding agreement that having a moment or even a crash certainly makes you a more cautious and aware driver. Although i would ask has anyone had a moment and feel more confident as a result of this? Probably more relevant on a track though if you are regularly running right on the limit.
  9. Wow thought there were just the 7 pages but that went on and on! Makes me appreciate the details that little bit more, plus interestin to see how things moved on from the 300ZX.
  10. just being deliberately obtuse on a monday evening, but hear me out, and it is relevant with so many new to rwd members, and the current poor driving conditions... At some point almost everyone is going to have to switch from driving FWD cars to driving RWD cars (unless you were lucky enough to have learnt to drive in an MX5, or something very old when cars were still rwd) and some of those drivers will have a 'moment' where the back tries to overtake the front in a misplaced stab of the throttle coming off a wet roundabout. The 'moment' might not necessarily be a crash, and it might not even be a spin, it might just be a wiggle of the rear, but even so, do you think having that first 'moment' makes you more appreciative of the RWD art as a result? From personal experience, after having spun my mx5 3 years ago i now know that grip isnt always there, and also that you can't go booting the throttle of rwd cars in the wet... so now when i drive i think i have a far better appreciation for the road conditions (damp/cold/just rained etc) and also of how a rwd operates, and where to be smooth with inputs, and tyre choice! I think if i'd have never had that 'moment' i might not think twice about these things, until i have a really big accident. To sum up, is it better in the long run to have overstepped the limits so you know where they are, rather than never having reached the limit in the first place? (and as a PS, after spinning my mx5 i decided some car control days might be in order, and not only are they great fun they do wonders for confidence if something does start sliding on the road you dont immediately panic )
  11. meh that was a bit rubbish... i dont care for the 'topgear tries to do something and intentionally does it badly' episodes... same with the scirocco commercial, the radio show and the art gallery one - all pretty terrible. Ryan reynolds was good though
  12. if it helps, i had white GTRs on my gunmetal 300zx... admittedly its a darker shade of grey, but might help? I really liked the look personally, might get my rays refurbed in white as homage!
  13. yeah my bad. that'll teach me to post quickly. But my point still stands, the Mugellos look nice, albeit not quite as nice as the real deal Linea Corse wheels
  14. They're made in Sheffield, so on a nice day you got a glorious drive over the A57 snake pass, get it fitted in the factory and and then back on the A628 - winner
  15. 625 miles on 2 tanks? easy.... reset the mpg before you start, my guess is 28mpg when you finish - which would be 101 litres.
  16. Hmm let us know how you get on if you do! Thinking of taking my zed drifting so might well consider adding a shim for more diff lock up myself
  17. Brilliant vid, thanks for that! Must be exhausting driving a whole lap of the Nordschliefe on the snow, constant corrections. Looks hilariously good fun though!
  18. Might do the three peaks with work if they go again this year, and they climb mountains at sensible drives. On another note, i am doing a roadtrip to scotland to climb ben nevis and then scarfell pike on the way back... was going to do snowdon as well so it would be the three peaks in a week, but added too much to the journey time and i've already climbed snowdon!
  19. Im going to try and be there, if i can persuade any of my friends to come along - theres a shocking lack of petrolheads amongst them considering they're all engineers. our plan is to drive down thursday and back on monday, via the chunnel.
  20. snow rubbing the paint wont be a problem, but any dirt or grit that was on the car or on your gloves will be... maybe wash it off with a hose?
  21. brillomaster

    Would ya?

dont see why not - could add a bit of individualism to a zed.
  22. or rather, how much tread/how many miles have the tyres done?
  23. Yep, been snowing for couple of hours now in Leamington. Which sucks as i've just bought a zed Hoping it miraculously clears by tomorrow?!?
