  1. i always thought it was pronounced dol-geth-lee? good roadtrip, i did a roadtrip with my 300zx in april, some spectacular scenery! Any more photos?
  2. there was a little post literally the other day! http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=53359 different track, but the general practice will be the same.
  3. zedworld are really very good. Used to have a 300zx and only ever took it to them, always a very good service. nice to know they work on 350s as well, be nice to take it to the same place for servicing!
  4. love them! Professional shots always look the nuts - wish i could shoot a car that well!
  5. wouldnt worry too much if you can get it sorted - i think a Uk GT car with 58k was a steal at 7k, all the ones ive looked at have been closer to £8 - 8.5k. theres always the inevitable things that will need doing straight away.
  6. reducing unsprung weight can make a little bit of difference to bump response, but not a lot... imo i've considered this for my wheels, but lightweight alloy ones can work loose, and the alloy is softer than steel. one other thing to note, is that the conical taper on aftermarket alloy wheels might be different to stock wheels, so id have to say if they're stock wheels, i'd stick with stock nuts.
  7. local enough to get there any back under my own steam. I only ask as i know that the javelin days are expensive for one driver, but cheap for a second, plus it'd be hard to get your moneys worth i reckon if you go on your own. tbh i'd be quite interested in even just coming along as a passenger - what date were you going over there for? back on topic though, id start the day with no bungs, and then put them in if they ask you to. I personally dont believe a car can ever be too loud - if you ever watch a GT1 race you'll realise that loud is good! been on a day with an s2000 running a straight pipes and while he did get black flagged for noise, it sounded awesome (could clearly hear it wherever it was on the track lol)
  8. You wouldnt hear the exhaust much through a helmet anyways! Very Jealous of you going to Cottesmore - I've been trying to find a mate for some time to share entry and fuel costs with, but to no avail! if you want someone to share entry and fuel costs with let me know lol
  9. hmmm, would make sense if a Japanese car show rigged it to make the japanese car win, although they gave the M3 a sporting chance. Just looked at the grid, and the s2000 has a better power to weight ratio than a 350z?
  10. Watch out for the agressive drivers. Depending on the trackday some organisers are better than others when it comes to dangerous driving. Rules for overtaking are usually only on the left, only on straights, and only with the person being overtaken giving consent really. If anyone tries to out brake someone into a corner they will be black flagged. if someone is being a knob, have a quiet word with an organiser if they persist. Cadwell park has a few good overtaking points, you'll probably overtake quite a few things on the park straight. if on the other hand you find you're holding up other drivers (unlikely to happen to much in a zed) but dont get stressed out and try and move over too quickly - hold your line through the corners, and then indicate right on a straight to let them past. other things to note, the track dries at different rates - out in the faster open bits the track can be nice and dry, but under the trees can still stay slippery quite a lot longer. errm, anything else? Probably only do 5or6 laps at a time, its quite a long track and you dont want to overheat. Always do a cool down lap in top gear, to get some air to the brakes and they'll last a lot longer. and when you get back to the pits, don't put the handbrake on otherwise the pads will stick to the discs. Check the levels of coolant, brake fluid, oil and tyre pressures throughout the day. So much knowledge to impart! other obvious stuff, dont try and turn in whilst still on the brakes as the weight transfer will make the back endvery light and more liable to spin,, and if you're not heel and toeing on the downshifts, watch out for bringing the clutch in as you're turning. My mate shifted from 4th to 2nd for a tight corner and locked the rear wheels, causing a spin! Anyways, stay safe and drive within your limits and you'll have the best day ever! Track driving is immensely good fun
  11. I love a bit of best motoring! Yep, the porsche was annihilated - and thats the s version! good work on the zed!
  12. my insurance dropped from £720 quid for a 1.8 MX5 to £630 for a 300ZX TT. Very strange! I was amazed it was that cheap, did they not think a 23yo with 300bhp, RWD and no TCS might be a bit more risky? What gets me is that performance RWD cars dont have to have decent tyres on to be insured - single biggest difference to how a car drives is the boots its wearing!
  13. Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I'm based in the Midlands so will try and get along to a meet just to have a nose around at some point. Cheers Brillo
  14. Thats pretty steep for £115k! Got to wonder if you're getting this for the man who has everything what he already has! On a related note, i can strongly recommend a remote control helicopter for a boys toy - best birthday present i ever got!
  15. Hi All! This is a very early message as im still a long way away from a 350z but i thought as i'll be using the forum for advice i'd say hi. Basically the plan is to save over winter and then splash out for my 25th birthday in march of next year. Anyways, bit of background for you - had an mx5, but found it a bit too small and cramped and slow, so last september i swapped it for a 300ZX TT. Which was PHENOMENAL. And i mean really, really awesome. As you'll no doubt know, they have the whole shebang, leather seats, cruise control, a stonking 3 litre twin turbo V6 up front. had lots of work done on it including apexi induction, japspeed decats and custom exhaust, plus a zedworld ecu chip so it was pushing a good 340bhp. Only problem is, the clutch went 3 months into ownership, it needed £700 worth of rust repair to get through an MOT, and then a conrod snapped. My own fault for buying a 21 year old car Currently in a honda civic vtec, but its nowhere near as good, so its got to be a 350z. looking for one with GT pack, in blue, probably a 2004 and i'll have about 8 grand to spend. Anyways, all the best for now, I'll be back in 6 months! Cheers, Brillo
