  1. that and the number of posts stew has! I wouldnt have thought raising the limits would have caused that many cars to cruise at 90... certainly smaller hatchbacks and the like are pretty unsociable above 70, as to sustain 90 they'd be screaming along at 5000rpm in 5th, which would begin to grate after a while. My number one gripe is lane discipline on motorways, especially those who hog the middle lane so there is a queue of cars in the outside lane overtaking it. I am guilty of cruising along in the outside lane, but normally thats because its a fast cruise, and im always watching mirrors to see if someone going even faster wants to get past. how accurate are most cars speedos these days? because if the usual +10% +2mph is kept, cars would have to doing a true 90 before they were stopped, which with speedos normally being wrong by a fair few percent, would be an indicated 95-100mph?
  2. mmmm another reason to buy... i like a warm car!
  3. mmm thats a move im hoping to make soon! A vtec'd civic is good, but not particularly torquey. a bit of lowe down grunt would be better. Considered an s2000, but that suffers from relatively low torque as well - would have to be driven hard to extract power. a 350z is more of a sports tourer. Does it have any goodies? Can make out the tan leather, very nice!
  4. Welcome! if its your first rwd car and you're a keen driver, i would recommend getting some driver training to be more aware of controlling a slide should the worst happen. Or alternatively, take it down a track, turn the ESP off and see what happens. Other than that just take it easy in the wet - go into corners slow, neutral throttle round the corner, and then feed in the power once you're on the straight. its obvious really, but i managed to spin my first rwd car within a couple of months of ownership as well. havent spun since, so its lesson learned!
  5. god i would love one of those... if i could afford the insurance and the petrol and was man enough to drive one, that would be a dream car for me! definitely a weekend/ summer car though... maybe when i'm older i'll splash out on a Griffith 500
  6. im guessing budget is a factor here? Quick search on autotrader revealed 48 blue zeds for sale at the mo? hows about this one? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201135412579950/sort/priceasc/usedcars/colour/blue/model/350_z/make/nissan/radius/1501/page/1/postcode/cv313bf?logcode=p
  7. darn it, wish i wasnt having a flat warming that weekend! £40 for dyno runs is cheap as chips, plus you'd be in good company with a few porkers! Wonder if my friends would mind if i snuck out for a few hours?
  8. Poor Evora! somewhat creamed by the other stuff, its not in the same league, bless it.
  9. i didnt think it mattered, after all, the front and rear discs are completely different sizes and number of pistons. The front does a lot more braking than the rear anyways, hence the size difference. only problem i can think of is different pads would get to optimal operating temperature at different times if the compound differs a lot?
  10. yeah, fair point on the b16s... even with two of them thats only 220lb ft, even if it is 320hp. 220lb ft wouldnt move a hefty camaro very quickly - i just thought it would be amusing to try and run them in parallel in the same engine bay! That V16 hot rod is immense! Loving the pipework, and how low it is!
  11. could just be the dealer trying to make you buy new rear tyres? Look at Falken FK452s, a lot of people rate them as decent but low price tyres, and from my experience with them they seem pretty good
  12. i presume people have already seem the e46 m3 v10 thats been kicking around? thats a bit more conventional (still bonkers) must say, v10 in a subaru is a prettyfaroutthere engine swap - if i was swapping an engine, i'd take the heavy chevy V8 out of a camaro and see if i could squeeze in two B16a2 engines from some honda civics lol
  13. Niiiiice! Now thats a sleeper, liking the way its looking fairly standard on the outside, and you wouldnt even think it a turbo as it doesnt have the bonnet scoop or an FMIC. Looks hilariously fun drifting as well!
  14. as said above, you've done well to get such a good car at such a young age! did you buy it outright or on finance? still fair play as for insurance, have you tried masively limiting the mileage or increasing the excess to a high level? Thought about Advanced driving courses or fitting a tracker? at your age the cost of the course or tracker might actually offset the insurance difference maybe?
  15. that is very nice indeed! Theres a lot of good stuff coming out of gaydon recently - and a supercharged V6 in a smaller lightweight package, plus a little electric engine to quell the enviromentalists. guesses on the price? im pitching at £75-80k...
  16. any of these any good to you? http://www.madmotors.co.uk/bodykits-spoilers-14000/body-kits/nissan/nissan-350z.html?limit=50 The N-1 seems to be the one you're looking for?
  17. indeed, i do think it a bit weird that the stock exhaust collects to one pipe then splits again at the box - as i say, ideally it would be a true dual! i think nissan must have compromised the pipe for cost, i cant see any reason why they'd choose to have just the one mid section for performance or emissions. strangely they've gone for two cats, but one centre pipe! id have thought if they wanted to save money it would merge straight after the manifold, then have a single cat, so theres only the cost of one!
  18. That is incredible, that guy is a mentalist!
  19. single exit definitely looks unique on an NA... i rekon it should be one exhaust for each bank of cylinders, or one exhaust per turbo. if you convert to a single turbo setup then a single exit would be fine, but really for a V6 NA it should be a true dual exhaust setup. Thats in my opinion anyways!
  20. Not sure how quickly the traction control kicks in to tame any oversteer? if the rears are on the way out and it gets quieter towards the end of the day then you'll definitely have a chance to see what happens out of some of the tighter corners. You never know, you may see the need to go on a drift day - the Santa Pod Run what ya brung days are not too far away and they're cheaper on both entry fees and fuel. One thing to note tho, if you do kill the rears, be aware if you're driving home on illegal tyres, as the fines no laughing matter. You'll probably see a lot of entrants changing wheels when they start, and a lot of cars turning up on trailers! Take it easy first time round - you'll do a few sighting laps as you say, and then just build the speed up during the day - you've got all day, at the start the track will be quite busy so take it easy and watch your mirrors, but after lunch you'll be able to get in some good hot laps. Have fun!
  21. Was speaking to an owner of a silver 'vert, at the base of snowdon, anyone on here? And if so, did you make it all the way along the miners trail and back?
  22. Nice! The wheel spacers really help the stance, will have to get me a pair. I think the badges need to go back on the engine cover, the carbon looks great, but a little bare without the badges i reckon. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses!
  23. de mod it - modifications are a very personal thing, even if a buyer is planning on modding a car, its likely they'll be removing your mods first, as its unlikely they'll be exactly as they want it. plus theres a lot of very nice parts on there which could probably raise over a grand if sold to the right people.
