  1. So, I'm thinking I'm just going to have to go for the Cobra system. I say "just" but it must be a decent system given the amount of people who seem to have it. Why does there seem to be a debate over whether it fits import Zeds or not? Surely it should or it shouldn't, one way or another? I ask as my car is a 53 plate import and would most likely cry if I bought a new exhaust and it didn't fit!
  2. I see. Would you have any recommendations for a similar sort of sound that you'd get from either the Apexi or the Invidia? I don't think I could justify spending £650 on the exhaust and then another couple of hundred on a Y-pipe. Part of me thinks I am destined to end up with a Cobra or Scorpion system as it appears I'd be looking at around £600 for backbox, mid pipe and y pipe with one of them! Although that is getting into the sort of price range that you can get a Buddy Club or Mongoose/Blueflame system for.... My head feels like it is going to explode!
  3. Thanks for the reply. Don't know why there is apparently so little about the Apexi N1. Does "N1" mean something in particular that makes you think that the Invidia would be similar? There seems to be even less on that one than the Apexi if thats possible! Do you know anyone else that has one? What would that price include? Cat-back or just the back box and centre pipe?
  4. Hello folks, Been looking for a while now and the amount of literature on here about the various exhaust options is overwhelming. My Apexi N1 exhaust is shot to hell with rust. Looking to replace it and the Y-Pipe. There doesn't seem to be as much written on here about this exhaust as there is on other ones. The receipts I have from the previous owner prices the N1 at just over £400, however, I can barely find one for double that cost now. Granted it was 2007 it was fitted but surely it can't have doubled in price?! The bottom line is, I can't afford to spend £1k on a new system and so wondered if anyone would be able to advise me of other exhausts that produce a similar sound to N1 as I absolutely love it. So yeah; 1) is a new N1 really £800-900 or am I being stupid and looking in the wrong places? 2) What similar sounding alternatives are available if so? Apologies if the answers to these questions are already buried on the forum somewhere. I've looked and looked and am going square eyed! Thanks, Gordon.
  5. Ah I see, can this "feathering" happen on just on tyre? And also, would it result in such an extreme result? This wear is right at the top of the sidewall and is actually like a ridge the whole way round, not just a case of a worn edge with tread slowly getting thinner. Basically looks like the tyre has been put on a lathe!
  6. Nope, that's definitely not the case! Just need to know if anyone has had a similar problem and if so, what fixed it. Rather know now than spend £200 on a tyre and alignment then find out that there is something else amiss!
  7. No spacers as far as I'm aware. Seems strange though that it is only on one side. And I think whatever is rubbing on it must have not been doing it the whole time I've had the car as the tyre would have burst clean through by now if that was the case.
  8. Hi guys, quick one for you... Since I bought my car a year ago, its had 255/35/18 Toyo T1R's on the front and 265/35/18's on the back. I get the feeling I've read somewhere that the original sizes are quite a bit smaller than this? Makes me wonder why I have wider ones. My Zed has the standard Nissan 18's on it rather than the RAYS or anything else. The reason I ask is because I've just taken my offside front down to the local tyre place to have a puncture fixed and when they've had a look at it, there is a worryingly worn rim around the inside. I wouldn't say its merely uneven wear, it actually looks like a ridge of rubber missing the whole way round, as if something has been rubbing on it. As a result of this, I'm in need of a new tyre which is incredibly annoying considering the amount of tread left on it. People seem to have mostly good things to say about the Vred's so I'll probably get one of them to replace it. I just wondered if anyone else had had a similar sort of problem before I go putting a new tyre on to find the exact same happening again. Could there be anything catching the inside of the tyre? And if so, what? I checked the other side and this has only happened on the offside. Anyone with any knowledge they could impart on me, please feel free, it'd be much appreciated!
  9. thanks mate, was really good getting photos done by someone who knows their stuff! My knowledge of photography is somewhat limited to say the least. They would be even better if I had the Chargespeed rear bumper I so desperately want but that's a long way off yet!
  10. Hey guys, not really been active on this forum since I joined a year ago, had a hell of a lot going on recently and haven't really had a chance. The Z has also been feeling a little bit abandoned over the past year too I think, turned into a workhorse that never got any time spent on it! However, I've got slightly more time to spare again now and yesterday, after a good clean and wax, I managed to get a photoshoot of the Z done with some cracking results! At the moment, all I've got is a Facebook linky which I think everyone should be able to see... http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 6347688948 They were taken by a lad called Sam who works from the same station as me who has been into his photography for years but has just recently started doing shoots. He is trying to build up a bit of a portfolio at the moment and has been shooting cars for free (like mine! ) to get his name out there before starting charging. Feel free to have a look at the photos through the link above and go onto the actual Facebook page from there. You could even "like" it if you feel so inclined. Also, if any members up my neck of the woods fancied getting their own car done, you can easy get in contact with Sam through the page and I'm sure he'd be happy to shoot some more lovely Z goodness! Cheers, Gordon
  11. Wow, getting done at 41 in a 30? They are harsh down your way. I'm a cop and I know that you'd be very unlucky to get done at that speed unless it was in an area/street where they are particularly cracking down on it if there has been complaints about it etc. Bad luck, but I suppose we all live and learn. And enough of the Police bashing everyone, I get enough of that at work from the public, never mind on here in my time off!
  12. Ahh right! Good to see that it's been well taken care of in the past by an owner that knows what they are doing! Looked really nice in those photos actually. And it's good to get an explanation of the story behind the plate. In fact, when I was doing insurance quotes prior to buying the car, your FTO still comes up on quite a few websites when you put the plate in! Got the car back from Alex today, between him phoning to get the go ahead to start work and him phoning to let me know it was ready was less than an hour! Got a standard JDM bumper fitted at the moment hopefully only as a stopgap before going Chargespeed Absolutely fantastic service from Alex, clearly knows these cars like the back of his hand and it is obvious to see why he is held in such high regard on this forum. I think it's pretty safe to say that I'll no doubt have dealings with him in the future. Cheers, Gordon.
  13. Yeah I knew it wasn't completely standard, I thought it was just a standard bumper though with the valance bit added onto the bottom. As I say, I'm not overly keen on going back to standard as I think I'd take bad after getting used to it as it was but I will if I have to.
  14. That's the kinda response I was looking for! Nice active forum with plenty of helpful members Right here goes...some pics to let you see what the story is. Here's some taken on my phone just after I got the car about a month ago. And here's some photos of the current state of the rear bumper Good to know I've got an expert locally too, I'll send you a PM Zmanalex. Hopefully get through ASAP to get a bumper from you. The timing of this happening has made it a bit more difficult to get fixed quickly. I go away on holiday for 10-11 days on Thursday coming so would ideally like to get something bought at least by then and possibly get it booked in somewhere for spraying and fitting for while i'm away! Cheers, Gordon.
