  1. yeah, it would be phenomenal when its working, but i just dont think that would be very often... i considered one when i was thinking about a zed, but after having bad experiences with other early nineties sports cars, i decided it had to be something modern. TVRs are awesome, no doubt about it, and the sound they make is , but i dont think i could live with one day to day, an S2000 would be a way better bet these days.
  2. me and a mate bought an old 328i and trailer for track use - the original plan was that everything was a 50/50 split - we did 6 days together, and shared the driving on the day as equally as possible. Luckily we were in the situation that the car was so cheap that if we did bin it, we'd just split the losses and buy another one - we didnt have anything in writing though. In the end we had to sell it as my other car at the time was costing me more and more money so i could afford to keep it going, also (although i didnt say this) my friend was charging out petrol at a business rate per mile - admittedly he was doing all the towing, but if i was doing any towing, i would have just charged for petrol, rather than petrol plus wear and tear on his car. Another point was he was keen to buy things that i was less keen on - such as new tyres for the trailer, new ratchet straps and a couple of other bits and bobs. I'd do it again, but as i say, make sure you both know what you want before you start, and also i'd plan out what days you'd wanna go and how many days you'd be doing a year, so you have an idea what the costs are going to be.
  3. Well last nights episode was a good one - everyone doing what they do best in my opinion A good crazy race for Hammond, a decent car twin test from Clarkson, and then another decent duo from Clarkson and May on the demise of SAAB. And once again, it was about cars! Only thing for me which was a bit weak was the guest, not being a huge Dr Who fan, but who really likes the SIARPC segment anyways?
  4. 12" width! Yikes thats wide and a lot of stretch with only a 265 tyre! Still very good price for someone!
  5. Ok, the standard BOSE CD changer is doing my head in - completely unable to play cds, and radio just has too many adverts! However, with the amount of faff in taking off the dash, finding all the right leads and getting an HU to work with the BOSE amp and all the steering wheel controls, i dont want to do it myself. Can anyone recommend a decent ICE installer in or around coventry? Would stretch to birmingham to get the job done right!
  6. just a point... aren't the reflectors there for a reason? is it an MOT fail to have them wrapped?
  7. work best or suit best? 18s work best, 19s suit best
  8. Annoyingly i'd be right on your route living in Leamington spa, and well up for convoy, except im driving up to scotland the day after for a week, so cant make it! even more annoying im missing the wales meet as well, bad times! (But 1000 miles up to scotland and back will be sweet lol)
  9. hmm seems a bit much for me for a 2003 import, even if it is only got 26k on the clock - but low mileage is not a reason for poor servicing, check to see its been serviced every year regardless of mileage - id say £7200 tops, as older imports can drop to below £6k now but on the plus side, i love the bodykit - someone do a replica in the UK, that rear bumper is
  10. Thats the one! Might see if i can find myself a new desktop background
  11. standard size is 225width on an 8" rim, and then 245 width on an 8.5" Rim, 255 would fit a 9", or a 9.5 with a bit of stretch I think a 275 or a 285 would need at least a 10" where was that site that had a whole load of pics of zeds, along with their rim tyre and offset values?
  12. Good work! question is, are they good roads, or motorway commutes? although you're probably finding as well as i am, cruise control and a long 6th gear make motorway drives a joy as well!
  13. but its just soo good! seriously, if i dont drive my car for a few days i get withdrawl symptoms - have to admit ive been out for a drive on a sunday afternoon for no other reason than because i havent been for a drive that day Maybe, just maybe... i'll walk into work once a week when the weathers nice. but only when i know i have a nice long drive on the weekend to make up for the lost days driving.
  14. hmmm, doing the same as you, and i have been pondering the same thing... two ideas ive had... use a different oil, for example 0w-30 as opposed to 5w-30 - hence gets warm quicker and helps with the short journeys or... as the handbook says, switch to 'hot' spark plugs that are more suited to short journeys and lower running temps? and another basic one from me... i've noticed that appearing to have a full tank week after week encourages me to just 'go for a drive', so now i only fill it a quarter of a tank at a time, which enough to go to and from work for like, 3 weeks! also you save 50kgs of weight, which contributes to better fuel economy anyways!
  15. pop down the road for the first midlands meet in a few weekends time
  16. Well it was way better than the previous week! Quite enjoyed the Ferrari and Bentley on ice, and that was actually about cars, and the final bit was hilarious, instantly recongnised it as Abergavenny which was nice!
  17. most frequent thing i get asked in my car is 'stop overtaking everything'
  18. eeep yep that would do it! if it does that at 8 degrees i'd have loved to see how quickly it span up at minus 2 last week!
  19. ah fair enough... well, its worth a repost. Looking forwards to Chris harris every wednesday, will keep me going until racing starts again! Have you watched any of the 'TUNED' videos on the drive channel? its very american, but still quite watchable
  20. its a great drive round the elan valley, brings back memories! Very much looking forward to doing it again soon!
  21. autocar did the same test, for some reason... although i do like chris harris... back in 10 minutes!
