Maybe the spigot bearing got damaged when they fit the new clutch? That can cause a noise. If it's getting quieter could be wearing down as they are soft, chatter would be a side effect of a single mass flywheel. see - http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/71699-i-cant-bear-this-noise-any-more/#entry1069161

Was the slip light on as well? If so it sounds like traction control kicked in - (that would be the engine cut) The code should not relate to the slip light really?
