  1. This has been a LONG time coming, I've owned my zed for a bit over 4 years now and the previous owner has tinted the rear window, Im presuming he has done it himself as its a p*** poor job, air bubbles and creases in the film. Ive heard horror stories before that when you remove tint film from rear windscreens that it will break the wires in the heating element. Is this true? what is the best way to go about getting it off? hair dryer or just rip it off?
  2. I hope that doesn't mean you've been out racing vauxhalls all day!
  3. All those on the barry boys site who slag off other cars and flyer them are scum. whats it got to do with them if a car is modded to anything other than their taste. I agree with the focus owner fair play to him. It seems to me that all those doing the 'baiting' have been bullied all their lives so now turned into keyboard warriors and trolls to try and make up for it. Quite tragic really.
  4. I've seen this before, it has been posted up here when it first came out. Bloody clever stuff imo. would like to see this implemented, probably not for another 15-20 years though in normal cars.
  5. If your after a really good grease then I thoroughly recommend Wurth HHS 2000 it sprays on like wd-40 so it penetrates all the places it needs too then after 30 ish seconds the solvent evaporates to leave behind a conventional high temperature grease. Easiest place to get some would be ebay. If it is a knocking your hearing then I can't see any grease helping.
  6. Do you have proof of postage from the Post Office? It is a bit silly, but it does mean that buyers can leave negative feedback, if warranted, without the worry of getting negative back. It happened me before, I left negative feedback for a bad seller and got a negative back, even though I paid instantly in full which is all I can do. Really should have sent recorded, especially around Xmas where packages go missing all the time. Sorry to say you are stuffed. Only a recorded postage option will stand up if he makes a claim against you - unless he has a history of doing this in which case you have a slim chance. It's not fair but some people just wait for this sort of thing so they can take advantage. Alternatively he may be telling the truth although I have to say I post loads and it's over the years only 2 things have gone missing. Nope, I got someone to post it for me because I was too busy with work. Thought this might be the case, first time it's happened in 9 years so ah well! Thanks all Stinker mate, its a shame its happened but look at it the other way Its only £27 and not a few hundred. Lesson learned the hard way I'm afraid, at least you won't do it again.
  7. I personally would give the 996 a wide birth, there have been quite a few well documented issues of them having a porous engine block and leaking liners. Porsche may make some fantastic engines but they had an off day with this one.
  8. I was in the same boat as you a couple of years ago when the cold weather hit, I bought a halfords own brand that was in the book in the shop. There was a choice of 2 I chose the bigger one and it's been fantastic. I could run my stereo for hours and it will still start the car easily and never run flat. I have no problems recommending halfords own batterys
  9. Thank god for that! I've been eyeing this up and I've got absolutely no use for it. Saved me a few quid whoever bought it
  10. Thats a question I've never seen before. to make them squeal you need to remove the pads and remove the anti-squeal shims and also clean off all of the copper slip grease. i can't see it damaging anything just making a bloody racket!
  11. http://bit.ly/JyUyAe Now get smashing
  12. Just call out the RAC or AA etc. they have tools to unlock the doors so you might be able to open your bonnet (i say might because of your cable) and jump start it etc. If your not a member you can pay a one off fee of £150ish to have them come out. going by what you have just spent on a new jack and what you will need for buying and fitting a new bonnet release cable then your probably at that mark already.
  13. I'm just about to try Muc-off only £10 for a big bottle and has some good reviews on detailing world
  14. Not sure, might need to test that too Im interested either way!
  15. if they clear the HR will they clear the DE with a plenum spacer and not need the washers to pack it up like needed on the OEM?
  16. Its not really a mod but I spent this morning changing my cam cover to fix the oil leak, cleaning both upper and lower plenums and the throttle body. I've eaten my dinner off of dirtier plates! Cant beat a bit of preventative maintenance. She's purring like a kitten now. Heres a bit of a 50/50 Ive got a set of rear LED lights on their way to me, I was hoping they would have been here today but nothing yet. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
  17. i personally use Gtechniq c6, i think its fantastic stuff and only have to reapply every 6 months.
  18. its easy, there is a bleed nipple on the slave cylinder which is bolted to the passenger side of the gearbox. just open the bleed nipple and drain it all out, then clean the bottom of the reservoir pot as there will no doubt be a bit of dirty residue in there. Refill with RBF 600 fluid. Get someone to sit in the car and pump the pedal 5 times and hold it down, then open the nipple to pull it through, check the fluid and top it up as required. keep doing this until there are no more bubbles and all the air is out.
