Welcome to the OC Love the red roof

When measuring the oil level it's always best to leave overnight. If you come back from a drive and try to measure the oil level I'd be surprised if you could get an accurate reading even if you waited an hour for it to settle. I bought a syringe and narrow hose which I can feed down the dipstick hole to help remove excess oil when the garage accidentally overfilled one of my cars.

https://www.carscoops.com/2022/01/700-hp-nissan-370z-blows-up-and-catches-fire-trying-to-catch-tesla-model-s-plaid/ Racing this Tesla did not end well for this poor Zed owner.

That interior looks in really good condition. Your son must be over the moon to have one at such a young age. Hopefully he can attend some meets. It really adds to the whole Zed experience and makes you feel part of the Zociety😁

How much would it be to kit out a G37 to this standard?

Cold start up YouTube clips of the 370z Scorpion seem to have a similar tone to mine on cold start up too. https://youtube.com/shorts/Y9d8-IoUSaI?feature=share

A few of us went to MSL for a Dyno day. Here's 2 clips shot with their phone. Same conditions. Same camera. One is a standard 370z. Mine albeit a 350z has the Scorpion Y-pipe and catback exhaust. You'll hear the difference on a power run and a few static revs at the end. Will give an idea of the difference over standard. Not the loudest by all means. Ssfv3ag4NlI

Looks like corrosion has forced you to treat yourself to short tails. I now wish my OEM 350z exhaust had corroded faster. I lived with the original exhaust for 15 years before MOT advisory made me replace with aftermarket. Sounds so much better I regret not doing it straight away

Welcome to the OC Sounds like you got some awesome relatives Any pics of your Zed?

I saw this come up and thought it may be of interest

Zeds are so old and rare now that I doubt many younger technicians at main dealers have worked on a zed in years if not at all. They'd probably be in the workshop following a YouTube guide

Battery died today. After 6 hours on the charger, still nothing. Although the old one the garage put in looked a bit small, it lasted 9 years so I just bought an identical replacement. A Bosch S5 005. Unclipped the surrounding plastic trim, loosening it and pulled it to the side. Despite it being a smaller battery I only just managed to squeeze the battery in.

Project Bankrupt/chopshop (Azurez33)

If anything should break any rules it should be how abysmal the OEM sidelights were. I reckon the original ones gave off the same output as the backlight on wrist watch! -
Love this pic. Makes the OEM rims like an aftermarket offering

Welcome to the OC Ensure you have a good read of the buying guide and common things to look out for. You certainly get alot of Zed for your money when looking at '04 to '05. Having used my '05 for nearly 17 years as a daily I can report my experience is they are reliable if serviced and oil level checked regularly. Servicing is relatively cheap at an independent but certain wear and tear items can be costly. I think the 2 unavoidable ones are tyres and a clutch/flywheel/slave cylinder combo if not recently done. I'm still on my original clutch but have a grand put away for the inevitable. Thankfully places like Tarmacsportz will be able to supply and fit you a new clutch kit with no bother. I'd put aside a good chunk for decent tyres too. To really enjoy the zed I wouldn't waste money on cheap tyres. It's a heavy car and you'll want to enjoy driving with confidence on our normally damp roads. At this age, most have already got aftermarket exhausts fitted due to rusted original ones. If not, again budget for a new or second hand one. The sparks should be replaced every 5 years, so hopefully an '05/'04 should have had that done in 2019/20 leaving you without the added expense of this. Good luck with the hunt and hopefully see pics of your own zed in the future

Welcome to Zed life. Hard to believe the 350z came out nearly 20 years ago now!
-
I never knew that. I'd be the one cursing that it didn't fit the front and not think to swap it with the rear.
