SHEZZA
Ok, its getting to that time of year where we think about digging out the posh wheels from the attic or garage. (although the snow is still falling in most parts of the country) Either way i need to do the spring shop and top of this list is Wheel Wax or a synthetic protector! I'll be applying to a polished 'dishy' rim type wheel so the more gloss that better! So come on and tell us what your using, feel free to post up pictures too. More importantly, what are these wheels you speak of ?

I just purchased FK1000 too after seeing this thread so it better be worth the £8 over Poorboys £8?? Where did you get it from? It should only be £4 more. ilogikal1
TBH I only spent 5 mins looking but Poorboys was £12.50 delivered and FK1000 was £20. Ah, fair enough then. Poorboys is typically about £14 and FK £18 (plus postage, where applicable obviously) from most places. That place is obviously offsetting the cheap Poorboys with the FK. If it's any consolation, you get nearly twice as much FK as you do Poorboys, so price per gram it's worth the extra. Also, FK is more than twice as good. And it has a shark on the tin. A shark!

Spatt
Got my FK today. . Tin is huge! Enough to last a long time. Hope the performance is good. It looks very similar to simonize wax I just hope the application isn't as tough.

Aminul
I recommend taking the wheels off, giving them a good wash with a pH neutral wheel cleaner, agitate with a brush etc. After that, clay the wheels, but once you've clayed them, throw that piece of clay away. For a really good protection, I'd recommend putting on some AMMO SKIN. pricey, but VERY VERY VERY good! can also be used on paint as a sealant. But if your looking for something to just apply after cleaning, poorboys wheel sealant or Chemical Guys wheel guard are both very good products. rabbitstew
What's there? Looks like too much to read..I'm lazy A test showing Poorboys lasting less than 4 weeks whilst FK1000P lasting 10 weeks... before I accidentally killed it with fallout remover. My argument here is that they say you need to use more than one coat of Poorboys for best results, but FK1000P does only need the one In reality, I may have to give this FK1000P a try Me too.. ive just ordered some. I use poor boys atm, and usually give the wheels about 2 or 3 coats (depends on how bothered i can be). My time is very precious atm, so if this fk1000 stuff can do it in one coat then awesome. Also apparently is good for bodywork so may give it a go on that too.
Guest
Well the Poorboys just ran out so after reading this have gone for the FK. Added bonus, did ya know there's a shark on the tin!!!!!
rabbitstew
I used the FK last week for the first time on my wheels and got good results so plastered it over the whole car Saturday morning. The shine was amazing and so easy to apply. Went on/off so easily it made me wonder why I struggle with other stuff. Sods law it rained the next day but the rain just beaded straight away. 4 days later and the car still looks good. Result!
SHEZZA
Thread revival. I've just bought some FK 1000p for my recently refurbished LMGT4's Would I be right in thinking I need to let them fully cure before applying this. Cheers
roscopervis
Yes indeed. The paint needs to gas out fully before applying any kind of protection. Ask the refurber for his advice as to how long that would be.
ioneabee
does that apply to both paint and powder coating ?
Tinyflier
does that apply to both paint and powder coating ? Powder coats cure through the baking cycle so can be sealed/treated straight away. I had mine fully refurbed (powder coated by The Wheel Specialist) in March 2013 and the next day gave them GTechnic C5 treatment and each 12 months thereafter. Dirt, grime, brake dust falls off with simple soapy water mix and they are still immaculate and shiny all over (including the inner barrel) David
ioneabee
I had mine refurbed by them too (in Swansea) I'm due to take them back shortly as they are all scratched !!! - not Kerbing or anything I've done other than washing with a wheel brush - ad they will re-do them they won't say what they think might have gone wrong
Jay Kay
I bought some autoglym spray on stuff but haven't used it as I'm worried about coating the disks. I guess its a wheels off job?
Ekona
Nah, just spray it on from a distance and don't go too mad with it.
