First car was a orange mk2 astra with white gte wheels and a cherry bomb exhaust, I used to take it down a quiet dead end lane to practice my handbrake turns with my mate, after perfecting them I one day had 4 mates in the car and wanted to show off my new skills except with the extra weight when I pulled the handbrake nothing happened, the car shot straight forward i hit the brakes locked the front up hit a 1ft kerb flush on and jumped it up onto the verge. apart from the loud bang I thought everything was ok until I got out to asses the damage! two buckled alloys and the front wheels about a 1ft back from where they used to be. Car was I write off. Lesson learnt.

Being just 24 my first car was a corsa and i ruined it but painting it a white/blue pearl, like how you see the vespas these days, i put 2k worth of bodykit on it (only paid £150 for the car) it looked hideous, great at the time, 1.2 8v 44bhp! used to try race everything, sold it to a friend for £900, he wrote it off within a week. sad times :(

X reg Mk1 Fiesta in white, before I had a license I used to drive it backwards and forwards up about 20ft of driveway and into the garage and then back out for ages on end.

Nearly wrote it off by hitting a tractor and plough the day I passed my test, then knackered the suspension by repeatedly going backwards and forward over a local humpback bridge but she kept going until I sold her on for the same money I paid, result.

Little did I know that due to crashing and blowing up everything I had subsequently I wouldnt actually sell another car for about 11 years afterwards

My first car was a 1971 Austin Mini 850cc which actually had a 1964 engine in it with the old "pudding stirer" gear shift. It cost me £20 to buy, and £500 to insure third party only. I had it for about 3 years, crashed it twice and repaired it myself. Did loads on it, had engine out, new clutch, rebuilt head, carbs, I fitted Cooper S disc brakes ("Normal" Mini`s pre 1984 only had drum brakes all around), roll cage, buckets, harnesses, alloys, adjustable suspension, cherry bomb LCB exhaust system, all the usual trick mini bits. I was always working on it and it was how I learnt all about car mechanics.

In the end the rust got so bad I scrapped it and swapped all the bits over to a newer 1980`s Mini. I remember I got £5 from the scrapyard for the bare shell, then sold the rest of the bits in the local paper. I remember getting £20 for the original 10" steel wheels, and even sold the old engine for £60. One of the few cars ive actually made a profit on when I sold it!

Mine was a 1.4litre Pug 306... only had it for 6 months before I decided I really needed more power! eventually sold it to my brother for £700 I think, a few weeks before the water pump went and I believe the car was scrapped.

First rwd car was a mk2 MX5 - few months after getting I thought i'd do some mad drifting exiting a roundabout... didn't have a clue what I was doing, back came round and mounted the verge backwards. no real damage other than knackered wheels and my pride, but did scare me straight about rwd cars and doing skids - immediately after that got some autosolo practice, and now I only go sideways on trackdays :)

1st proper car (after various heaps that I learn't to drive in) was a 2003 1.4 Clio. Good little car, but whilst staring out on a European roadtrip, the cambelt went. I was 18 miles from Bruge, and the car had only done 50k (at 4 years old!). €2100 later, I had a new engine built (after being stuck on a camp site for two weeks), got home for the cam seal to blow. Renault UK refused to help at all (even though the work was done by a main Renault dealer). Got that fixed, then two weeks later some stupid cow drove into the back of me while I was stopped at some lights in Brighton. Needless to say, the car was written off (I couldn't even open the boot, and the spare had to be deflated to get it out!)

After that, i went Jap, and never looked back!

Some interesting cars here! Back in 2005, this was my first car; stayed in for 6 months to save for it and when I took got it home it was too low to get on the drive

Then about 8 moths later I bought this, and kept the two for a bit before selling the Civic; 170+ bhp rwd at 18 teaches you a lot!

My first car was MK4 Toyota Supra.

Red G reg 1.4 Ford Orion with peco powermaster exhaust and ghia interior scavenged from scrap yards and a few of my mates write offs. I crashed it into the back of a van that had stoppped at a zebra crossing. oops.

Best part was 30 seconds after the crash someone i went to school with drove past in the other direction and while laughing at my misfortune failed to notice the car in front of him had stopped and smashed into it.

I had an F reg Vauxhall Nova 1.3 SR.

Was great until I saw an Orion smash into the back of a van at a zebra crossing. I stopped to see if anyone needed assistance until 30 seconds later someone smashed into the back of me....

That is nothing. ..I was driving my van one day...stopped at a zebra crossing and some c*nt in Ford Orion smashed into me

A reg fiesta.......I believe the phrase I used was 'let's see what Gower (my friend following behind in his escort) makes of this'........anchored on and the resultant smash wrote the poor thing off.

Whopper!
