ostego
When i first bought my zed in December 2013, planning ahead for my renewal in feb 2014, i ran some online quotes, declaring all mods (alloys, body kit, spoiler & exhaust), my 4 years NCD, 4 years experience and age of 22, and was looking at £1,200 for the year.... every other company wanted £3,000+ Have just had my renewal with elephant for £700... which i class as a total bargain, since the prices online from them since i purchased the car fluctuated from £700-£1300, so i got it at it's lowest (well... they asked for £770, but got it down) Just a bit perplexed as EVERY company outside of the admiral group want £3000 plus.... but then all of the admiral group give a considerably good deal considering age, NCB, etc. It cost me £560 to insure my 1.6l Hyundai last year 3rd party fire & theft.... and only an extra £140 to sort me out with a 3.5l V6 with cosmetic mods fully comprehensive I think it makes more sense for them to give a reasonable price... as obviously zed drivers are very careful, i take a lot of pride in mine and would be far more inclined to drive an old banger like an idiot and crash it than i would in a zed! I nearly cry if i see a small stone chip on the paintwork.... would never cope if i saw it smashed into a tree! A lot of people on here seem to be with either admiral group, or the specialist insurers, but was just wondering why the rest of them are so extortionate
Flex
I think the CEO drives a Zed Always cheapest for me too!
chirag1988
I got the cheapest quote from Admiral too and with the multicar when I added my polo on it came down by another £170! I've just spoken to them about adding the cobra exhaust on (getting it fitted this week hopefully) and they said only £38! (i was expecting a lot more!) Scott TMN
Same here for me! With elephant! Always seem to come out on top! I'm 22 with 2 years ncb. Like you mods listed and my was just over £800. Unfortunatly because of my age the specialists are all 3k+
370Ad
Its just the market they target. For example my mum owns a lexus and they do not offer very competitive quotes at all. There isn't one company which has the best rates for all types of drivers/cars unfortunately!
JetSet
While Admiral were the cheapest by £20 for my coupe for some reason the renewal quote on my wife's roadster almost doubled, well over £700. Sky were able to cut that quote in half . Pete

marzman
They are crazy cheap for me too. Im paying about £450 for the 911 and £300-something on my beemer. Also through a clerical error i believe (me changing cars too often and them getting confused!) they've managed to give me 2 lots of no claims, so i've got 10 years on each car.

I am sure that clerical error will be noticed at some point.... but you should be ok as long as you don't mention it on the Internet or anything silly like that
Zhorno
Insuring the mods is cheap but they don't pay out for them in a crash with admiral Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Stutopia
Cheapest by a mile for me, I had no NCB though as hadn't owned a car for years, so the 10 month plan was a win. Even with the 10 months, pro rata'd up they won. Decent about mods too.
iwanprice12
I seem to have cheaper quotes as well with Bell (Admiral group). They always ask for more on the renewal quote, but last year, 25 y.o, 4 yrs no claims...1 accident (not at fault) and it was £490. I was paying £630 the previous year on a 1.9cdti sri Astra. Hopefully, being older and wiser my insurance will reduce when due for renewal in June...cross fingers!!!
Vik54
yup they were always the cheapest for me - however when it came down to legal cover and pursuing a biker that ran into my back end they took two years to admit that as I am in Scotland it was not 'financially viable' to pursue using the the Scottish legal system - which means their inhouse solicitors are not up to speed with Scottish law. They even tried to change the claim from a 'no fault' to a 50:50 (retrospectively , two years after the event). I fought them and kept my NCB and they had to keep it as 'no fault' and refund the full excess I had paid on repairs. Feckin chancers would never use them again. rtbiscuit
admiral for me are about £50 cheaper than Sky can even get close to. but i pay the £50 more and use sky as i have cover for like for like parts (admiral require you to list them, but will not replace with anything other than OEM.) i have an agreed value with sky (admiral will only pay market value for what the guide books quote) sky should honour the valuation from the owners club or be pretty close. nothing wrong with admiral, used them for many years, even did well by me for a crash i had with them. but for my current car, they would not be the best option in the case of an accident. they would look after me, but i would lose out. Ricey
Corner the market and make a smaller profit on many units.......take the niche market and try to make a larger profit on less units. That's why big companies can be cheap , small companies are expensive and the odd anomaly in between like Sky and Livingstone remain based on a calculated risk.
