  1. Have moved back down to Portsmouth now, and wouldn't want to take my zed for a service at most of the garages around here! I know there are a few forum members in the area, could I get some recommendations of a good place to get a decent service at a decent price in the area?
  2. Need this last pipe gone before I move in a week! Surely somebody wants it! £30, + postage if needed! Otherwise it'll be going to the rag and bone man that pesters my street with that horrible tune blaring from his van every saturday morning!
  3. Any takers on the less shiny one? Am moving in 1 week so would rather get rid of it before then. £30!
  4. 1. How many other penis-numberpate threads have you started elsewhere? Is it a hobby or an obssession? 2. So, having read all the helpful advice that people have taken the time and trouble to offer you, for which you are clearly so grateful, what are you going to do about your small 'penis' problem? 1) this is my first and last penis post! 2) I am toying with the advice of either a) dealing with it, selling it, or c) turning my 350z into a giant penis. All of these have been suggested, and carry equal weighting in terms of their ability to deal with the scenario
  5. Wow.... this is the least helpful forum ever for penisy numberplate related problems!
  6. Yeah, sounds fine.... do you mean this morning?Or any morning?
  7. Thanks Randy. I'm really pleased that the moment someone mentions penis plate and you need to find an example, my car springs to mind! My spacing is illegal. Have I ever been stopped for my plate, looking like it does? Once. And that's in the 12+ years I've had it. But in those 12+ years, I've also been stopped by the police (routine checks etc) and none of those have mentioned it. I'm not hiding the fact it's 'L14 NDD' with silly font or randomly spaced number plate screws, but it IS spaced illegally, and I know that. I put the fact I've only ever been pulled for it once down to one thing - LUCK.(This is me not just tempting fate, but smacking it over the head with a big stick - who's gonna put £5 on the fact I get pulled now ). Every time I overtake a police car, or there's one behind me, I'm aware I've got a naughty plate and half expect the blue lights. If you're happy with that "Will they, won't they?" every time you see the feds, then go for it. At the end of the day, you've got a ginger car, 19 inch wheels with a big spoiler on the back. Most people will look at it and think "P*nis" regardless of what your number plate says anyway... I can tolerate and appreciate the 19 inch wheels and the spoiler comment.... but it is LE MANS SUNSET!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't get me started!!
  8. It sadly isn't as directly identifiable as penis to qualify it for a 90k price tag, but have had a fair few mentions of it. The tipping point for me was meeting with another 350z forum member today who was buying a part off me.... it has played on my mind so i asked him the first word that came to his head when looking at the plate, and inevitably it came up! I have ordered a plate with a lot more spacing between the 2 groups, and I'll see how it looks and whether i get any more penis comments after the switch! I'd ideally not like to be pulled over by the cops, you'd think if ANPRs are that damn clever then they wouldn't have any issues reading around different spacings..... think it's the inability to read it that will ring alarm bells, not the recognition of additional spacing. Either way if there's no points involved then it is not the riskiest of moves to make. Dont want to go back to my original plates too as I have spent too much time and money caring for my paintwork and bodywork to have people look at it and then realise it is a 53 reg
  9. Would much rather drive around with ATTACK on the back of my car rather than penis! Have done a bit of internet reading, and although nobody seems 100%, it looks like it is only a £60 fine, with no points, and that's if you get unlucky enough to come across a copper who actually cares I'd like to think I could laugh my way out of the situation if i was pulled over by explaining my plight and reason why i chose to change the spacing!
  10. So.... Long story short, I've managed to buy a 5 character personal number plate that looks like this P* N*S The Asterixes are the non-relevant characters The first word that jumps into a lot of peoples' minds is penis.... Having been oblivious to it at the time... and only realizing after numerous people have spotted it and brought it up, i have concluded that this CANNOT continue, as it really is quite embarassing! The way i see it i have 3 options : Get rid of my numberplate and waste £250! Get a JDM or even chargespeed ( have been so tempted to get one of these!) rear bumper so that it fits a square number plate where the P* would be above the N*S Adjust the spacing inbetween the P* and the N*S to distort the link, and create a better separation. Due to finances at the moment..... option 3 is by far the most attractive, but I am wondering about the legality of it. As opposed to "P* N*S" it would be "P* N*S" Would this be legal? It would in theory be the same width as the characters in a traditional 7 character reg, but instead of 4 characters, space, 3 characters..... it would be 2 characters, 3 spaces, 3 characters Anyone have any input? And also... would the fine be just a £60 deal.... or would it entail points as well? If i get 3 points then my insurance will rise by around £700 with my current insurer.... so would probably not be worth it....
  11. Japspeed pipe sold. Other pipe is still available. Can package it and have someone arrange to have a courier collect it from my workplace if that is of any help to anyone £35
  12. Am based in Newbury Hassan. Another forum member is meant to be collecting the Japspeed one from me on Friday, I will keep the thread updated as to whether the sale goes through or not. The other downpipe is still available
  13. Whoops.... could've got myself into something weird there! Sorted Replied, will have to look into postage options though, since i'd ideally rather they were collected to save hassle
  14. Japspeed pipe sold. Other downpipe still available for £30. Am willing to package it and have a courier collect it for postage if necessary Have now got a cobra y-pipe on my 350, after trying to get rid of a rattly sound from de-cats, but having been through 3, i now realise that its probably another element of the exhaust or simply decats themselves that are rattly by nature, the cobra one has improved the rattle though, only bringing it on at about 3.5k revs. So for sale are my 2 other y pipes cluttering the garage The first downpipe was bought on ebay for £130. It is japspeed branded, and was on my car for 3 weeks. When on my car, it had a rattle to it very similar to that that you'd get if it was rattling against a heatshield. Whilst I am unsure whether the rattle, that came at around 2k revs is caused by the part, or the fitting, i am inclined to believe it was the fitting as having had it removed, the part seems sturdy and not rattly at all. £60 The 2nd downpipe has been on my 350 for about 3 years. I swapped it out as it started to have a bit of a rattle at 2,000 revs, it seems to be coming from one of the flexis on it. £60 for the new shiny Japspeed one £35 for the older one Collection from Newbury (Berkshire) ideally. If you're not happy with them, or there are any issues, then I'll happily sort out the problem
  15. I was under the impression that it didnt have a cambelt so am baffled as to what that squeak could be then as it sounds identical to one. I check my oil every 2 weeks after i realized the importance of doing it 8 months back.... so my oil level is always fine. Ill keep an eye on the pressure gauge going forward and see if it libks in to the light. The pressure is always high at 3 quarters idling after startup and then rests at around 20 when idling and warmed up
  16. When starting up my car from a cold start, the engine oil light will stay on approx 1 second after all of the other lights go off. Not sure whether it is related or not but i also get a cambelt squeak on cold starts Is this anything to worry about? Am taking it to hdev for a service in a week or 2, but just want a general idea as the last surprise i got after a service was a £800 bill for other stuff!
  17. Had a japspeed downpipe fittes to replace my old one that had flexis that would rattle horribly after 3000 revs. The exhaust sounds a lot better now... but theres a weird new noise.... sounds like a metallic rattle at 2 rev ranges of about 2k-2.2k then 2.5k to 2.7k. Its only at this range in any gear, the exact same noise each time...... any ideas? should i chase down the people who supplied the part or the people who fitted it. Another thing maybe worth noting was that i saw water dripping from where the 3" single end of the y pipe connects to the back of the exhaust..... is this ok or is it a sign of something wrong?
  18. Are both the same size? Or is there a front one and a rear one? As my rear badge is a lot smaller
  19. Hi, was just checking my car's fluids and noticed the coolant was below the minimum mark, there wasnt a lot left in the reservoir. Its a closed system, so can only assume the worst as im used to with the zed.... leak somewhere. Any ideas what could be wrong... as surely if it was a leak it would have depleted a lot sooner than 6 months. My temperature gauge always sits at around 40%. Looks like there is greeney blue fluid in there probably more green that blue... am i safe to pop to halfords and get any green coolant fluid to top it up until i can get it looked at/to monitor any leakages.
  20. Have been thinking recently whether I'm doing my engine or transmission any harm by using 6th gear if i'm doing 62-70mph (of course I never go above 70!) This leaves the revs at around 2.1-2.5k Is this speed ok to do in 6th? Or should i always aim to have the engine running at around 3,000 rpm, as sometimes it does feel a bit sluggish doing 60-odd in 6th
  21. @clarkemotorsport : yes, it is the original y pipe i believe @blaqkaudio91 thanks for the tips, dont really have a way to jack the car up on my own, so may have to leave those checks to the professionals
  22. Yep, flex pipe is the one! www.himni-racing.com/images/Exhaust%20flex.jpg hopefully it is just a simple thing like you had with yours then! The exhaust is fine at low revs, but goes pretty rattly at higher revs! May take it to an exhaust shop and have them do an inspection
  23. Had new tyres fitted and whilst the tyre shop had the car hoisted up for tracking i asked them if they could have a look for what could be causing my rattley decats. He had a quick look and then showed me where he thought it was coming from. There are two cylinders underneath that have a sort of criss-crissed/woven metal texture to them i found this picture of them online www.vividracing.com/catalog/wm.php/images/jicypipe.jpg He tapped one and it made no noise, but the other made a noise as if sonething was loose inside if it. He said it could be as simple as someone taking it off and removing a bit if debris inside. Could someone tell me what part this is called? And whether this would be a likely cause of a rattling dirtbike noise at high revs? Also, any idea on how much it will be to put it right
  24. Hmm, after a bit of digging about having realized i don't even know what kit it is on my car.... ends up i think it is a full veilside V1 bodykit! http://nissan350zbodykit.com/350z-veilside-v1-body-kit-side.jpg
  25. Yeah, that's the place! With regards to other peoples' posts : the spoiler i believe it is a veilside V1 spoiler Rear lip wise... I could not say!
