  1. Was looking at my discs earlier... and saw this odd dip on the inside of one of the discs Www.imgur.com/pRlEVwj Surely this couldnt be due to the dirt shield as otherwise it would be all around the disc... anyone know what could have caused this... and whether it is dangerous? Am meant to pay them tomorrow, but will hold it back if this is something they could have caused.... just cant work out how they could have caused this
  2. So i go to pump up my tyres and put the first one from 26 psi to 35 psi.... go to do the rest and cant get the metal cap off them no matter how hard i try... have used plyers a 10mm wrench and wd40 and those ****ers are not budging.... anyone know a remedy for this? Or is it a case of an expensive visit to a tyre shop?
  3. 24.5 diameter from my measuring tape! Will go for 35 all round then, as long as it wont do any harm!
  4. Have noticed my front tyres are looking a bit deflated, know i cant refer to the manual as theyre not stock Have seen the sticky saying to put them at 35psi and work my way up... but what sort of signs should i be looking out for to let me know ive got the right sort of psi? Should i bring all tyres to the same psi or is it recommended to vary it between the front and rear? They say 50psi max on the tyres.... but think that is a bit overkill!
  5. Thanks for all of your input guys! This looks like it won't be a cheap endeavour! Now I have my car mechanically sound to the expense of 4 figures.... I'm now letting the zeditis flow through my blood, and have booked to have £420 of work done on ICE this weekend.... That leaves me pretty skint until the end of the month now! May have to hold back on the DA machine for a bit... but these light swirls are really bugging me! They're so un-noticable but i just pick up on the smallest imperfections (have a few stone chips that are KILLING me every time i look at them.... ordered some touch up paint but am too scared to use it at risk of it looking splodgey!) Is it worth just buying some polish and pads from halfords or something to give it a go by hand? Just to tide me over so I don't go mad! Would a good polish also help to blend in any touch up paint i were to dab onto the small white paint chips?
  6. Can't feel any scoring on the inside of the disc so looks all good! Feels like the dirt shield is pretty bent all over, especially after they corrected their work! It's distance from the brake disc ranges from about 0.5cm to 2cm now! Hope that wont cause any harm
  7. Took it back to the garage today.... as people said, it was the dirt shield! They've put it right.... could any damage have been done during the 15 miles i drove it in the bad condition? Don't want to find out later down the line that this has been a costly error
  8. Not sure if they're the right way round as i didn't fit them so can't really tell... can't see any scoring on the discs, nor metal filings. The sound is constant however, not just when braking, but when driving, and it is very pronounced. Think I'll take it back to them tomorrow after work.... but just want to verify first that this is not normal (?) as i know that they'll do the typical mechanic thing of "just give it a few days and it will be fine"... but i don't want to risk damage or brake failure just because they don't want to admit fault
  9. Feels fine from what i can tell, i can feel a sort of "cut off" rough thin plate behind the discs, that is cut off around where the brake calliper is. There seems to be ample space between this and the discs
  10. So just had new pads and discs with anti squeal shims fitted to the front.... have had discs and pads changed on previous cars so i know they will make a sound as they wear in.... but these seem to be making a REALLY loud sound constantly. Have only driven it 10 miles (and from my in car camera see the garage had a bit of fun "test driving" it for about 3 miles) but the noise is very loud and sounds like metalic... is this all normal, or should i be worried?
  11. Every day i drive to and from work on a 30mph road, and encounter 1 speed camera there, and one coming back. Earlier today i was driving down that road, and where as i always ensure I am at 25mph when going through them..... for some reason I just don't remember ensuring i was at that speed for this camera! I am pretty sure I wasn't speeding through it.... I'd notice, wouldn't I? The flash should be pretty noticable! Now I'm pranging out, and my in car camera had run out of memory so i can't check the rear camera to see if there was a flash! I'm 99% sure I wasn't exceeding the speed when i went through it but am just uber worried since I didnt make a conscious note to watch my speed like i routinely do! Just looked at how it would affect my quote percentage-wise on admiral.... and they would currently give me a year for £1282, a speed awareness course takes it up to £1750 and a 3 point speeding offence takes it to £2,000 My year's premium is £710.... so using those percentages it would go up to about £1,000 for a S.A.C and £1,200 if i got 3 points. .....hiking up a premium by about 70% for a speeding ticket seems a bit excessive! Has anyone on here had to delcare a speeding offence, what percentage did it put your premium up by? I'm 22, so know i fall into the high risk category.... but a 70% increase just seems insane!
  12. If you want to stop your bose sub from cutting in and out in the meantime, then this should sort you out worked great and only takes 10 minutes. Even with the sub working though it is still shite
  13. Bought a microfibre kit as well but i only use that for waxing! DAMN IT!!!!! I was raised around people who used sponges to wash their cars..... i just thought it was the done thing! Now I feel really guilty for what I put my zed through
  14. Wow.... love the yellow & black contrast.... looks pretty amazing bar the front bumper... thats it's one downfall in my opinion, other than that it looks pretty "bad-ass", wouldn't even recognise it was a zed if i saw it on the street!
  15. Will go for a DASpro6 then.... what is an extra £50 when you're talking about a £3,000 re-spray!! Would be surprised if it is my washing causing the swirls, as all i use is a sponge and shampoo! But maybe I have been using something too rough, or pushing too hard. Have read up about polishing, and would i be right in saying it will get rid of these marks.... but in the process will be removing some of the clearcoat? With the frequency I like to wash my car.... I'll have no clearcoat left if polish chips away percentages of it each time!
  16. So when i had my old hyundai coupe.... my idea of a car was was putting £2 in the jet washers at shell every 2 months and calling it there. With the zed, I've found myself spending 2 hours every 2 weeks hand washing it, then waxing it Want to start polishing it as well, as there are a couple of light circular marks in the paintwork (probably from me waxing it so much!) that show up in certain lights. Figure for waxing and polishing, a dual action machine would be the best bet, especially seeing as i have little experience was thinking of going for a kit like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/TecTake-Professional-Eccentric-Polishing-including/dp/B008ZCR2VA/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1393510202&sr=1-2&keywords=dual+action+polisher what else would i need if i bought that? or would that pretty much have me all sorted for the "low" price of £95 Is there much risk with DA machines of damaging the paintwork in the hands of a novice? That also scares me a lot
  17. I have the exact same thing!! Sounds it is coming from somewhere infront of me... like the air vents that blow up on the windscreen, have continually tried to pinpoint where it is coming from.... but simply cant, and nothing i do seems to stop it! you mention you think it could be a drop link, am having all of my drop links replaced this saturday, so will let you know if that solves it
  18. My bad! Well at least thats sorted! will go in hunt of the other thread
  19. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4ad0f06f7f 76k miles, azure blue 2005 GT pack, with service history.... asking price of £3.5k Know I overpaid by about £500 for my car..... but this is less than half the price of what I paid for my kitted 53 reg with 38k miles Assuming this would be a scam, or something dodgey otherwise that surely wouldn't still be for sale
  20. From what I can see online, models later than 06 have some hope in getting CC, since their ECU is better equipped to deal with it, but it is not an easy job at all, and will require a fair bit of "messing about" behind the wheel and with the pedals with dodgey wiring, etc. IMO, unless you are DESPERATE for cruise control, it seems a bit pointless! I only use it when on the M25, or in a average speed zone.... have tried it elsewhere but on roads where there aren't average speed cameras.... Its a lot more fun just to drive a car the way nature intended In terms of stereo controls, they would be achievable, and are a lot more simple since you'll only need to be communicating with the stereo setup as opposed to the car's essential electronic systems! Here is one guy's success story/guide on how he added stereo controls http://my350z.com/forum/body-interior-exterior-and-lighting-diy/77855-diy-for-steering-wheel-removal-and-steering-wheel-audio-control-unit-install.html
  21. As a further update to the suggestion that this is a bloke magnet... I was driving in a multistorey car park today with the window down and one of the NCP (bastards! £6.40 for 2 hours and 10 minutes....) guards poked his head in as i was looking for a parking space and engaged me in conversation on how "sweet" my car was.... i obliged by revving the engine (which with decats sounds AMAZING in an enclosed space!). Seems at least I'm not alone in attracting the wrong kind of attention! The ebay listing for the car i bought had pictures of 3 hot girls posing around the car at a car show..... WHERE IS THIS CAR SHOW.... AND WHERE DO I SIGN!? There must be some grounds for me to sue for false advertising! If i were to sell this car the best I could muster up would be four 40-something blokes spread across the bonnet!
  22. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/39792-retro-fitting-cruise-control/ http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/37298-cruise-control/ Going from them.... looks like you're out of luck in terms of the cruise control. Wiring isn't there, and there could be issues regarding the ECU
  23. My boot struts dont hold the boot up and I do have a heavy spoiler on it... never realized you could remove the weights.... That link and every link I have googled for some reason says I do not have permission to view the page.... is it in a secret forum or something!?
  24. Hmmm, i dont really want to but i may have to join a few of you on the paedo-front... as i didnt spend all this money to NOT get laid! Will give it a bit of time to see... but failing that will make a note of the users posting the "suspect" posts and we'll arrange a day trip to a school or something
