  1. Just went and checked the oil level.... the dipstick is hard to read as there doesnt seem to be any clear markings on it.... i wiped it and taking it back out there was warm oil all over it.. seemed plenty! Started it up just to see if it did the same and it shot up to 90psi then down to 50 as it idled.... so seems back to normal on that front. Which is confusing. Will still top up the oil.... but surely if it truly were low oil the symptoms would be more consistent
  2. Because ive never had any issue like this before and it disappeared after one rev! Feel like a ****ing idiot now though thinking about it, am glad it was only a 2 mile drive. Have a good 4 mile walk to halfords though....
  3. So, started up my 350 this morning and it was the first time id come to start it and it was coated in ice! I was parked on a slight incline facing downhill. I start it up and notice the oil pressure is at zero whilst the engine is idling... i leave it on thinking it just needs to warm up as the car defrosts and the red oil light pops up, a rev of the engine takes it off and brings oil pressure up to maybe 10-15, the it drops again. This happens twice over the course of around 3 minutes, i was driving it carefully due to the ice, and after i started moving the pressure crept up to around 30 psi after around 3 minutes of driving. This was at 2000 revs. Am just wondering what would have caused the issues i encountered this morning. I plan to go check the oil levels once it has cooled down, and go to halfords to top up the oil levels if necessary. Am just a bit confused as from what ive read on here everyones 350 seems to have a high oil pressure on start up in cold weather!
  4. Del Boy quotes really don't help when making any sort of financial decision.... but I'll stick with it none the less!
  5. Awesome! You're only 7 miles away from me as well so that's convenient! Will be in touch some time soon. Think it is best to just go for a full P3, can never be too cautious
  6. Hi, Know this if one of a few threads ive made now asking for advice but am just extra cautious with my 350 so want to make sure everything is perfect! Basically, it is due a service, but the service history seems different to how the schedule should be : 2003 GT 2004, 4k miles : oil change 2005, 7.5k miles : minor service 2006, 11k miles : oil change 2007, 14k miles : P3 major service 2008, 21k miles : P1 minor service & oil change 2009, 27k miles : P3 major service 2011, 32k miles : P3 major service 2012, 34k miles : oil change & minor service Since I have only bought the car recently, I'd like to have a comprehensive service to ensure everything is up to scratch (especially since the last service was just over a year ago). But am a bit confused as to why it has had quite a few P3 services since 2007 in it's life according to its history. It is currently at 39k miles. Should i ask for another P3 service? Or would this be pointless as it's last one was 7k miles as just 2 years ago. And would i be right in saying we're looking at about £250 for a P3? Also, what is the general consensus on getting it done at a nissan garage? Is there any merit in having them done by the specialists? Or does anyone know of any decent places to have a good honest service done in the Berkshire/Surrey area?
  7. looked at a few videos on YT and that seems fairly simple! Will bang the subwoofer when it next cuts out to see if it seems like the sort of issue they relate to in the fix, and if a good hit fixes it will get taking it apart and hopefully get it sorted! Have only had this 350 for 3 weeks and 2 ****ing electrical problems.... first the window motor reset switch and now this damn sub! Thanks for your help!
  8. if i were to go down the route of getting replacements, etc. then i figure i may as well upgrade the whole lot to something better than bose! Was more wondering if this was a common problem that had any quick simple fix to it
  9. Hi, Saw a audio specialist today and talked about setting up a better audio system in my 350gt. Looking at £800 for 2 x 10" subs with custom built fitting and enclosure, along with a 500w amp and sound proofing, this would take the input from the speaker cables to get aroubd the bose head unit issue. Looking more like £1250 to get a new head unit in there all inclusive The main reason im thinking of doing this is because the bose amp keeps popping then cutting out! Is there any way to fix this, or cheaper way round upgrading the audio set up in these cars? Since halfords seems out of the picture as they wont touch them
  10. Nis-no will have to do for me, has a great loud exhaust on it too which must have cost a fair amount so i can't complan!
  11. Mmm, wanted one with a low mileage as I made that mistake with my last car! Had a new clutch a fly wheel recently fitted, as well as the electric window motors (even though the right one is now going auto up, then half way down, so looks like ill need to get at the motor reset switch some time soon!) Have full service history, and all the documents and it seems like the previous owner took good care of it, so am happy that its come from a good home
  12. Bah! Thats a bummer! Well I've changed the title now so at least that's genuine...
  13. Aaah, well, thats a bit annoying, but i like the look regardless! It was just under £8k, with 39,000 miles on the clock
  14. In terms of whats nismo, the listing said the skirts, rear & front were nismo. But there seem to be so many different versions out there i found it difficult to determine what was what. In all honesty I don't know the answer to your question, maybe someone who knows more about the kits could shed some light on this
  15. Have been on the forums for a couple of weeks now finding out more about the 350's, bought one a week ago but have been so busy at work I just didn't have the time to post up any pictures! Was originally planning on buying a ferrari kit car a few months back, but when i saw the 350 (and had countless people tell me how much I'd regret getting a ferrari copycat) i fell in love and certainly don't regret it! The power and sound of a 350 is amazing, with good looks to boot! Here she is :
  16. Did see that online, but don't you need to remove the whole door panel, disconnect wires & cables, and unscrew a fair few screws to get to the actual motor reset switch? I've never liked removing panelling on my old car because of all the wires and the fear I'd **** stuff up even worse, and am apprehensive to go in there on this nice new one. Is it really quite a simple job for anyone? Or does it require a bit of know-how?
  17. Hi, Bought a 2003 350 a week ago, which had had new electric window motors fitted on both sides recently. 4 days into its use, whilst i love the car, the drivers side window is now going straight up, then dropping half way when using the auto up feature. This also means that when i close the door with the window up, it doesnt drop then rise that little bit to stop the window coming into contact with the seal. I've read up about the problem, and can see it appears to be an issue with the window regulator switch. Have also read about some technical service bulletins released, and have investigated 2 that would relate to my issue : I know the fact these motors were fitted after may cause an issue, but I'm working off the assumption that that is something i don't need to tell Nissan if they were willing to fix it... as i could just claim ignorance as ive just bought it. So my question is, will these TSBs still be valid on my 2003 350z? Could i get this regulator issue fixed for free by Nissan under one of these TSBs
  18. Just as an update for this thread to anyone who may be interested in this... I bought the car today, via bank transfer. Because i planned to do it on my mobile at the time, with lloyds i sent the seller a tiny amount earlier in the week to set him up as a receiver on my banking app. On the day, i sent another small amount to his account as a precaution to check it would go through immediately (as it did), and then later went to pay on the following amount in excess of £7k This payment was flagged by lloyds as being suspicious, and it took 30 minutes on the phone with them answering strange questions (some relating to info relating to me i have never disclosed to them, and in my view they couldn't know without access to some sort of wider-spread database). After the long phone call though it did all get sorted in the end! Expect a thread with pictures to follow when i get the opportunity! Thanks for all the advice (and arguments) given in this thread!
  19. Just found a 24 hour number for lloyds and they said a £2,500 limit is for phone banking, but online it is £25,000! So looks like thats where the numbers may have got confused, and all should be fine! Thanks for all of your advice and am glad i'm not the only one paranoid about travelling with all that cash! Hopefully come Sunday I'll be posting up some pictures of my new 350!
  20. For payments up to £5000 mate. I bank with Lloyds too. I had that issue when I bought my 370Z. I went mental down the phone as internet banking was saying no. Ending up speaking to a manager and he gave me a work around. As I had Phonebanking, which is the old service before Internet banking was the thing, he could set up the payment for me that way over the phone and it would be approved for a higher transfer limit (£25000), then I could log onto internet banking and the payment option to that new person would be there and I could do it that way. Got there in the end but it was the key fact that that option of the call back payment set up is limited to payments of £5000, per day. wargh, just when i thought i was in the clear! Is it something that needs to be pre-arranged then for over £5000?
  21. But, if you travel up with the intention of viewing, paying and driving away, in one visit, a surprise 24 hour delay with ruin that. Let seller know your intentions (of driving away that day if cool) and clear everything up prior with Tina and John at your bank before leaving. Have already viewed the car a couple of weeks back Just phoned up his bank (halifax) and they say they have a £2,500 limit for sending and being processed same day, but in terms of receiving it simply depends on my bank (lloyds), so whatever they're happy to send, halifax can receive as soon as it is there! So maybe this £2,500 thing is a mis-communication, as it would appear from what everyone else has said in terms of their transactions working fine through one off bank transfers! Guess it all lies with my bank now then, lloyds customer service is closed at this time so will wait till tomorrow to call them and check! Fingers crossed they'll give me the answer i want!
  22. Hi, Am buying from a private seller and we were looking at ways to pay. Would rather not carry a large amount of cash on me, so was planning on doing it via bank transfer (Faster Payments) online, which i believed would mean the money would be in the sellers account within 2 hours max. He said he called his bank, and for amounts over £2,500, via online banking, they said it can take 24 hours to clear, which is odd since it says on the faster payments page the maximum limit for lloyds FPtransfers is £25,000. He lives quite far away, so need to get it all tied up in one trip really. Was looking into CHAPS payment as an option (where you pay your bank £25 to make a same-day transfer, yet this would be done on a saturday, so finding an open branch may be difficult, as well as the working day issue) But was wondering whether anyone on here has any experience in this field, and what method is the best/safest? Was considering just splitting the amount into 4 x £2000 payments if the £2,500 limit was an issue (not sure whether anyone can give any advice on whether that works!?) I'm not sure whether I'm being overly paranoid with not wanting to drive a long way to someone's house with over £7,000 on me in cash!
  23. Afraid my price range means i need to try to stick within the £8.5k maximum mark to get one at a final nismo stage (since insurance post-mods will be costing me around £1.3k), hence why I'm being quite stringent with regards to an unofficial kit! Would rather a pre-2006 one too as £500 p/a on road tax would bring me to tears each year!
  24. Called up RT performance and they said around £400 for the kit, then £700-800 for fitting and painting... which seems quite fair! Would people on this forum recommend just buying a standard 350z gt and getting the work done myself, or holding out for the right one to come up? Am weighing it up, as it seems that throwing in a spoiler, alloys and exhaust system the work may come to about £2000.
  25. Hi My search for a nismo 350z has been slow so far. I recently contacted a trader, and they said for £1,500 they could supply, fit and paint a nismo bodykit on a car if i bought it from them... but their prices & mileages are a bit too high to justify me doing it through them Does anyone know of a place which could do all these things in one lot for a set price? Seems when you source a bodykit yourself, you leave yourself open to varying fitting charges, as the difficulty isnt known to the fitter, so figure it'd be best & easiest to have one place that can do it all, and know what they're doing!
