Hello Everyone - New Potential Buyer 350Z

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I thought I would look for a reliable, honest and fun Forum to join as I know I will be buying a Nissan 350z :) and very soon!

I am currently driving a Ford Fiesta ST and have had it for over 2 years now, I've decided to move on from this and find something more stronger/faster and different. I think this was the best choice of car for the money! I'm amazed of the value of these cars now, Not too pricey not too cheap shall I say. I think it's the value and what you get out of these cars that's attracted me to them. Not only that, but I have a mate who has a grey 350z and wow, it goes like a rocket. Considering I'm coming from a 2ltr 150BHP hot hatch, it's going to feel really different for me.

Not only I'm saying Hello to you all, I would also like some advice before I make a purchase! You guys know EXACTLY what to look out for and I was hoping you can all guide me?

I'm looking to purchase either a dark Grey or Orange GT version preferably.. Maybe with a bit of noise but not overly modified! I'm from the Berkshire area down South. So If any of you lovely people know anyone selling within a 100 mile radias of where I am, do let me know as I would like to see. I am viewing an orange one in London on Saturday but it's not a GT version (slightly put off in a way) no heated seats, probably no full bose sound system... I Love the full wack!

Thank you all and have a good evening and weekend!

Pete.

Welcome to the forum and have a great time driving the Zed when you get it, it will definitly be a change from 150hp to 300, and from FWD to RWD.

First off me personally would get a GT model and manual, its really really worth it!, i would have got one but they ware not avalable here in Iceland, what is your budget?

Second have a read over these guides:

And another thing look for one with good service history thats important and ask what kinda gas he has been running it on!

http://www.350z-uk.c...6-buyers-guide/

http://www.350z-uk.c...tential-buyers/

Then there is this thread with FAQ

http://www.350z-uk.c...-must-read-wip/

http://www.350z-uk.c...-zed-on-95-ron/

Then if you need OEM parts which are almost always very expensive at the dealership i would message ZMANALEX OR R35LEE, they are traders on here and have much better prices.. :pmzmanalex:

For tuning and aftermarket stuff, you can check out the professinal trader section, lots and lots of good trader there who ofter give discount to members.

If there is something you need to know dont be afraid to ask on the forum (would do a search first though, so the same topics are not reapeating here over and over again)

Think that is good for now, and you say you dont want it overly modified, just wait for the Zeditis to kick in, then you can never stop

And if you are thinking about a exhaust, saw that you mention it in OP.

Personally i would recommand Invidia Gemini, its a true dual system instead of a single one, so that will make more power(you get most out of it with a good tune, but if you are going to modify some more i would do that first and then tune it all at once), sounds very good, not to loud, and it wont blow your wallet up, think even Tarmacsportz.co.uk has them on discount sale out this month, for around 800 pounds shipped for the whole system.

If your instreasted he is a trader on here and you can message him!

Other popular mods are:

Plenum spacer (motordyne company is really good there, will add to your power/torque)

About the intake, the OEM one is really good so i would just throw aftermarket filter in the box, and dont do all the CAI stuff)

De-cats which are just a straight pipe and will eliminate your cats, both power and weight reduction, but if you want to pass MOT without a hassle there are also Hi-flow cats, which add a little to the power, less restritive cats.

PS. Order a stubby antenna as soon as you get the car(Antenna from s2000 are good i have heard):D

All these things you can buy often with discount from the traders on this site!

2ltr 150BHP hot hatch

I always thought of the old ST as a lukewarm hatch

Just messing with you mate...welcome to the land of Z! I am from Berkshire too so may have seen you around.

Whats the budget? Can throw some decent examples up here if we know that.

Thank you everyone for your absolute warm welcome!

Sorry It's been a while responding, been working all day as ya do ;)

My budget is between anything decent below the 8.5k mark so if anyone has any goodens going that hasn't been messed around with (too much) including proof of history I will be very happy :D

I will get looking at all your articles including the rules of the page.

I do believe I have come across your website Myfairlady ;) was on there not long ago and I would be honoured to pop down and see you collection of Z's!! Give me until February, this is when I am roughly aiming to spend the money on a 350z as I need time to prepare my current car and sell it, unless I find a Part Exchanger ;)

All the best everyone and thanks again!

Pete.
