i think the good garage scheme is just something a garage can buy into so that they can put its name on their company. A good garage shouldnt need it like you said biscuit its word of mouth and providing a good service thats important

one of my friends friends is a manger for kwik sh1t; he keeps trying to persuade me to bring the jag there for tyres and other work, because he can "do me a good deal" I cant break it to him that I'd rather wash me car with pebbles than let a kwik monkey near my car. especially because you need a special machine to do the wheels upside down as I have rare 20" BBS split rims.

When I used to work on the same industrail estate as kwik fit I took my GTI there to get a nail removed from my tyre. Saw some little twit hooning it around the carpark after. Was not impressed at all and they were'nt apologetic either, safe to say i'll never go back.

My local KF is fine. The Zed went there a couple of times, no probs with them at all.

Also the pads are guaranteed as long as you keep the car so a good deal of its a keeper

Couldn't anyone do that? Say Kwik fit. They do free inspections on brakes. No obligation to buy.

Your right BBK, you dont have to buy their rip off 4 x Discs and 4 x Pads @ £380.

but when they quote you £72 to fit the front pads only, which is what's needed

and then refuse to do the front pads unless you agree to their full recomendations when the cars there..THATS A RIP OFF..!!! :thumbdown: :thumbdown:

Well some are rubbish, some are good. My one is good. Never had an issue before. But then again, I go in knowing what needs to be done. Wouldn't let them do work on my zed though. Did on my last car.

 

Oh and they usually try to fit pads and discs at the same time, so you can't blame them for the brakes messing up. If the discs are within a certain limit, their company policy is not to replace just pads. Its all because of the blame/claim game many people like to play, I'll sue you etc. Avoids them getting sued. But they also offer the lifetime replacement warranty included for free to counter act this.

BBK. Kwik Sh1t only give you a guarentee if you still own the car when the pads ware out, if you sell the car

this warrenty is not transferrable. My cars normally do maximun of 6000 miles and then get changed

(not that I would ever take my car to Kwik Sh1t for anything having read the comments on this post.)

My sons car is a 1999 Golf which gets him to Uni and back in Sheffield,

the brakes at Kwik Sh1t prices will out last the car and cost more than the cars is worth..!!! :thumbdown:
